"Wait, calm down, Kathy. Let's answer their questions first." Rhodes waved his hands, glancing at how quiet Michelle had become. He turned to her again. "You guys didn't torture her, did you?"
"Torture? I guess." Kathy turned to the girl, ignoring Verde's horrified expression. "Grandfather locked her in a nightmare to speed up interrogations. We don't care much about summoners who have killed civilians. If you want to spend time here with them, it's your call. Just look for me again if you're done playing with little girls."
"Why do you sound so angry?" Rhodes only held Kathy's arm firmly. "Did your dad get hurt? They're looking into New Pearson, right?"
Kathy only glanced at his hand on her arm. It was as if she could even bite that hand off if he held her tighter. She shrugged his hand off. "I'll talk to you when we're alone. Finish up here fast. You know where to find me."
