"THERE IS AN EMERGENCY"
As the man shouted, everyone rolled their eyes at him, some were annoyed by the sudden interruption, some were wondering what happened, while the new adventurers who entered before got scared.
Helga, too, was troubled by the unforeseen yell.
"THE TEAM SENT INTO THE GOBLIN'S GROVE WAS AMBUSHED" Helga had no idea what was happening and neither did most of the adventurers there, but the employees and the most experienced adventurers surely knew.
Some said things like "they are just goblins" or "why is this bastard shouting for some goblins" throughout the tables of the Guild.
Undoubtedly, many were underestimating the situation. As for Helga there was a bit of anticipation in her eyes, she probably thought 'even though there are only goblins some people are in danger'. Indeed there was an intention of running to help them.
Even though this mentality could be considered noble and courageous, it was just a naive view of the danger occurring and the world itself.
Driven by a good cause many lost their lives.
"THE SIMON'S GOBLIN HAS RETURNED" the man yelled.
Tension could be felt all over the hall, everyone's face was overthrown into a sense of fear and dread. Everyone went quiet for a moment. Everyone widened their eyes. And everyone understood why that man was shouting in terror.
Everyone except Helga.
She spent her entire life inside her house, without anyone except her tutor, no one else to talk to, no one else to discuss with, some knowledge of the world people could call 'common sense' was unknown to her.
That's one of the reasons why she decided to start her journey, not only to help defeat monsters and free the world from corruption, but even to travel, to discover what she never knew about all of the forsaken lands once were full of people living peacefully.
But even to her, someone with no clue of what was happening, the situation felt dire. Seeing all of those prideful adventurers shocked was new to her.
Some of them were desperate, some called that man a liar, no one believed what he said, or better, no one wanted to.
'What is happening? Isn't Simon's goblin just a goblin? But it has a name, and what does he mean has returned? Of course this goblin is a threat, but how could a goblin cause this mess?' Helga wondered inside her head, searching for the most logical answer, but she couldn't find anything.
Since birth, shyness had been a part of her personality, but was this the situation where she would have complained for being insecure for asking information about this goblin? of course not.
After all one thing that she hates is not knowing what to do and what's happening, with some knowledge of this monster she could understand why many veteran soldiers were worrying and start making some plans on what to do.
Not being properly prepared is the first cause of a loss.
The secretary was nowhere to be found so the only answer was to directly ask the adventurers. After scanning for a group that could answer her doubts, without only screaming at her face, she found a group suited for that.
Yes, they were scared, but they didn't seem completely desperate.
Two guys and a girl were sitting at one of the tables, wondering what would happen in the near future.
"Sorry, mind if I ask you some questions?" Helga said after approaching them.
An ash-blond haired guy that was relaxing at the table, raised his sigh and answered, a mix of emotions could be seen in his charming black eyes.
"Yeah… sure, anything for a distraction right now" sighing and making his head rest on his palm.
Now Helga had a proper view of this man's face, appearing not much older than her, he was still a teenager. Black hair reached his neck, even though they were messy, the entirety of his face was harmonical. Many would agree to call him handsome.
"Ahaha, of course come sit with us" to his right another guy talked, presumably in his late forties, his mouth was almost hidden by his beard. The man's advanced age was evident in his black hair which hid some small white strands. Appearing muscular and mighty, he was surely the tank of the group.
Helga was surprised by his kind behavior, was he not affected by the news? But then realization struck in her head.
'He is really kind'
That man was indeed affected by the news, but for the sake of the group, he decided to act carefree, even though it wasn't helping much he was still trying.
But something strange was in this man's eyes, this feeling crossed Helga's mind, but she couldn't understand what it was.
Choosing to let go of that thought for now, she sat down.
"I wanted to know more about this goblin, why was everyone scared? Is this goblin really that scary?"
The two of them looked upon her in awe.
"Wait, what do you mean? you don't know about Simon's Goblin?" the bearded man said still shocked, his left eye closed a bit due to the revelation
"Where do you come from? Inside a cave or what?" the handsome guy added with a bit of sarcasm and disbelief.
"No, I don't know anything, that's why I came here to ask, I want to know more about this matter before it's too late" with a slight determination in her words.
"Well, not many things are known about Simon's Goblin"
Helga turned her gaze to the handsome guy
"How come?" this question was obvious to come, how could such a feared monster like this one have not much information about?
"Because everyone who had the chance to fight him died… well except Simon"
"And who is this Simon?" Helga continued asking trying to understand something
"The one who killed this goblin, and yes, it appeared like 20 years ago or something like that, and it's a fact that the goblin died, because Simon was said to have returned with the goblin's head, but I guess somehow it got revived? who knows" answering more than he was asked, the handsome guy was simply saying out loud the questions he was wondering in his head.
Somehow she got what he was saying, many doubts were still in her mind but she understood that everyone in here had their own uncertainties.
"Is there something else we know?" she searched for more informations
"Well, yes but only about his physical appearance, it is said that he seems more like an ogre, a really huge one, many people thought of it by just a big ogre and they were wrong, many died like that, so probably the one who entered here before has probably seen the Simon's Goblin from 20 years ago to recognize it"
After hearing this, only one question wandered through Helga's mind.
"Is there a way to kill this goblin again?" with a serious face Helga watched them in search of some hope.
But there wasn't.
Both of them watched each other without answering her, not knowing what to say, or more knowing too well the answer…
Then the third member lifted her head from the table, watching Helga in disbelief and a bit of disgust. She surely listened to the conversation without intervening, until now…
"Are you really that stupid?!"
