I told Cairn I was going to come back soon once Angelo had woken up to give him my second inspection.
As I made my way to my tent I thought of how overwhelmed I was by everything. by so much had happened
"Where the hell were you?!" Maya demanded once I entered the tent. My body froze and my eyes widened as I realized I had forgotten about Maya. I hadn't come up with an excuse to tell her of why I hadn't returned last night.
"Angelo's condition was delicate, so I stayed to check on him," I lied to her. I was surprised by myself and how quickly that lie left my mouth.
"Oh, is that so?" she asked as her voice lowered, and she became sympathetic. "Is he alright? is his condition bad?" she then asked.
Seeing how she immediately calmed down I felt so bad that I had lied. Little did she know that Angelo was fine and I was sinning all night.
"He's fine now," I assured her.
