Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

I let a soft hum out as I walked towards Pallet Town, Sylveon walked besides me with one of her ribbons wrapped around my hand.

It was still kinda surreal to see forest like this still. Filled with exotic animal, Pokemon obviously. Sure there was the odd wild pokemon that attacked us, or the occasional trainer wanting to battle, but it was definitely nice and peaceful.

"Where are we going to again?" Sylveon asked and I stopped for a moment to avoid tripping over a weirdly placed rock and then answered her.

"Pallet Town, the home of Professor Samuel Oak. He's the man who punched your former trainer and got him locked up." I answered and watched her reaction carefully. She still wasn't a big fan of humans, but that's fine. So long as she didn't start pulling a Lance on them, it was ok.

"Oh! Can we meet him!?" I suppose I'd want to meet him too, collaborating on research notes would be cool.

"If he's agreeable to it." I replied as I casually grabbed an Oran berry off a tree as we walked by it and tossed it to my side as Sylveon grabbed it and gleefully ate it.

"Yay!"

It was interesting to be able to understand my pokemon now. I wonder how I can abuse this ability to fuck with the timeline for my amusement. Next time I meet up with Brock, I want to try and unlock Ash's aura abilities. I want chaos damnit!

I felt my smile grow as I saw a sign saying we were close to Pallet Town.

Oak let out a groan as he stretched after laying down for three hours observing some Pokemon on his ranch. It was still fun, but his body wasn't quite what it was when he was younger.

He was fifty years old now after all.

Maybe one of these days Gary would be willing to take over for him, but not for a while, he's still got a lot of growing to do. Blue was also an option, but he was still running around trying to chase Red off that mountain…

"Sir, there is someone you put out a request to keep an eye out for approaching. White hair, blue eyes and a Sylveon alongside him." One of the assistants said and the professor smiled as he made his way out.

"You know, it's quite small, but all the farm land, growing your own food and knowing your safe with a man like Professor Oak around is definitely a nice life." I mused as I walked through pallet town.

The people were very friendly, nice greetings and waving, hell one of them tossed me an Apple I was munching on, all from sheer kindness.

Maybe one day I'll make my own little town like that, a ranch with my Pokemon and my possible significant others as well. It greatly appealed to me.

I mean, it would be interesting to think about, but that's for the future after I've at least made top tier trainers struggle just facing one of my pokemon against their whole team.

Goals!

"Do you want-" Sylveon was cut off my a man waving in the distance, black shoes, beige pants, red shirt and a white lab coat… I want one!

It was Professor Oak!

"Hello there!" He greeted as I approached him and titled my head, Bill probably said I might stop by, because he wasn't surprised by my appearance. Thanks Bill.

"Hello there Professor Oak, it's a pleasure to meet you. Raven Inanis, this Sylveon, I gotta say, you're my hero for punching her old trainer." I grinned as I shook his hand as he rubbed the back of his head with his free hand.

"I must say, her fur is in marvelous condition, how do you groom her?" The professor asked as he looked down at Sylveon fur with a curious eye.

"Well I give her a bath at least once a week, or will be, she just evolved after we beat the Cinnabar Island gym. Then she spent five minutes avoiding the towel as I was chasing her, the scoundrel." I teased Sylveon as she rubbed up against my leg happily.

Shameless this little one is.

"I see, might I offer you refreshments and a meal at my lab, Bill said you had some very interesting research notes I would love to prick your brain about if you wouldn't mind." He asked and I internally thanked Bill again. Gotta buy him something nice.

Perhaps some life alert button for when he gets stuck in his costumes and linked to nearest officer Jenny office nearby.

Yes that would do.

"If you don't mind, I'd also love to pick your brain on some stuff." I answered and he smiled as he led me up to his lab.

"and that's how I believe infinite energy can be used to help with Pokemon struggling with evolution." I said as I finished my newest theory.

"Have you ever tried publishing these research notes?" The professor asked amazed.

"No, I don't have enough proof to publish it. I don't want to capture a bunch of Pokémon and make them evolve quickly simply for the sake of my research. Doing field research also would take too long, and my Pokemon and I can't sit still for too long without going insane." I answered as I gleefully ate another slice of pizza. It was really good!

"Does this connect with those Pokemon who require special conditions to evolve?" The professor asked and I smiled, it was always nice to have someone equally adept at theory work.

This man was THE Pokemon professor after all.

"I believe so, we know some Pokemon like Magmar, Electebuzz, Haunter, Kadabara, Feebas, Rhydon and several other Pokemon evolve with specific conditions that happen when trading. I thought on that, why is it they need to be traded and have a specific item on hand to evolve?" I asked as I held up a piece of pizza.

"It's because of the unique nature of the magnetic waves created when trading through bouncing between the towers and servers. However that doesn't explain why Pokemon in the older times didn't need the specific item or these man made magnetic waves. Then it hit me, the olden times had different terrain, the world was different, the rules of today didn't apply. Legendaries were much more active in the world. So who's to say their presence and own aura didn't cause these effects to happen naturally!" I finished off and bit into my slice of pizza.

"You might be onto something. It is rare, but we do still randomly find evolved versions of some Pokemon and can't figure out how or why they evolved." The professor said and I smiled at him.

"Exactly. So what if the unique items made are mimicking the original effects of the past, then because of that when the unique magnetic waves hit them, they evolve!" I said and the professor nodded in agreement.

"We'll have to test it, but I think you might just be right. If this goes through, you could be on your way to having junior professor status." Oak said grinning and I gaped at him.

"What's the requirements on that? To become a professor fully?" I was definitely curious. Professor Inanis or Professor Raven sounded good to my ears.

"To become a junior professor you need to publish at least five research papers with the backing of a professor. Then to become a professor you have to prove your research is proper and true. Then every five years you have to prove another theory to keep your license as an offical professor."

I had plenty of papers written and shoved in my bag right now, hmmm… I narrowed my eyes and grinned at the man before me, oh yes, I think I could definitely attain my junior professor status soon.
