Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Personal Maid

·Mar 4ShareAfter the assassination attempt, security around the Daimyo's estate was increased significantly. Guards patrolled the perimeter in greater numbers, shinobi were stationed in hidden spots, and the samurai were more alert than ever.

While this was great for Kenta's safety, it severely restricted his ability to train his Boogie Woogie. The number of places where he could secretly practice was dwindling fast.

'So, now they decide to take security seriously? Where was all this effort when a random ninja waltzed into the estate like he owned the place and tried to kill me?' Kenta grumbled internally. 'At this rate, the only place I'll have left to train is the bathroom, and even that might be under surveillance.'

'Should I just tell about my ability to my family? It's an option. The only downside is my grandpa telling it to the Hokage which is Hiruzen who is best buds with Danzo. I am pretty sure that Danzo would get to know about my ability from Hiruzen. And that would mean Danzo trying to have me as a slave or well dead.' Kenta contemplated

'But since when have I been scared of consequences? I welcome them like an old friend, pat them on the back, and dare them to hit harder. I don't run from disasters—I stride into them like I own the place. I'm the kind of person who sees a 'Do Not Enter' sign and takes it as a personal challenge. I make mistakes with confidence, bad decisions with flair, and if there's a rule to be broken, you can bet I've already shattered it and framed the pieces as modern art. So, consequences? Please. They should be scared of me.' These thoughts brought a smile on Kenta's face as he finally made his decision.

'God had told me to be careful of my arrogance but it should be alright if the things are not even in my control. I will try to hide my Boogie Woogie as long as possible. If grandpa asks I would try to lie once if he doesn't agree then I would just have to tell him the truth.' With that decision made, Kenta went back to training.

As he was practicing Chakra control, his mother, Shizuka, entered the training grounds. Beside her stood a stoic girl who looked about ten years old. She had short, dark hair, sharp eyes that betrayed no emotion, and wore a kunoichi uniform with no village markings. She exuded an air of discipline and professionalism.

Kenta raised an eyebrow. "Who's the statue?"

His mother sighed at his bluntness. "This is your new personal maid and protector."

Kenta blinked. "My what?"

"After the recent incident, your grandfather decided you need a constant guardian. She is an elite Chunin, trained by your grandfather's personal shinobi. Unlike Konoha or any other village-affiliated shinobi, her loyalty is solely to the Daimyo's family. She is talented and capable. She would grow to be jonin or even an elite Jonin with time. She will accompany you everywhere and ensure that an assassination attempt like last time does not happen again."

Kenta's eye twitched. "So, let me get this straight. I now have a bodyguard who's also my maid?"

Shizuka nodded. Her tone had clearly stated that this was non-negotiable.

Kenta stared at the girl, who hadn't moved or reacted since the conversation started. Then he turned back to his mother. "She's not going to start dressing me and spoon-feeding me, is she?"

Shizuka crossed her arms. "If you don't behave, maybe."

Kenta shivered at the thought. "I take back everything. I am an obedient and well-mannered child. But why can't I have some Samurais as my protection."

Shizuka rolled her eyes, then continued, "Your status as a noble has changed, Kenta. Now that you have chosen the path of a shinobi, you are no longer entitled to the protection of the Daimyo's samurai. Samurai only give their loyalty to the nobles because they are someone that are in need of protection. On the other hand, Shinobis and Samurais don't see eye to eye. The nobles also would vaise quite a stir if you were assigned personal samurai guards like your brother."

Kenta groaned. "Of course. The moment I decide to do something different, the nobles take away all the perks."

'Damn nobles. If I had known choosing to be a shinobi meant losing samurai protection, I would've asked for a personal dragon or something ridiculous before making my decision. Bunch of scheming snakes.'

The girl chose this time to speak.

"My name is Sayaka. I will be your confidant, your ally, your sword, and your shield. My life belongs to you, and I will ensure your safety no matter the cost. Through fire, through storm, through the darkest nights and the bloodiest battles, I will stand by your side. No force, no enemy, no power in this world will make me falter. I answer only to you. Not even the Daimyo's commands override yours. Should the heavens themselves decree otherwise, I will defy them without hesitation. My blade is yours to wield, my strength yours to command. Until my last breath, until my body can no longer rise, I am yours."

She said all of this without blinking or changing her expression.

Kenta blinked at that, "Wow, okay, that was… intense. I was expecting a simple 'Hey, I got your back,' but nope—full-on dramatic warrior vow. Uh, do I need to sign something? Like, is there a contract involved? A ritual? Do I at least get a cool badge? Because this level of commitment feels like it should come with a membership card or something."

Kenta stared at her for a long moment as the only response he got was a shake of her head, "So... you're not a real person, right? You're a golem or something?"

Sayaka tilted her head slightly but didn't respond.

'Great. I have a guardian robot with the emotional range of a rock.' Kenta sighed internally. 'And she's older than me! I can't even make her call me 'big brother' to soothe my ego.'

"Well, Sayaka," Kenta said, rubbing his chin, "if you're going to be my bodyguard, I need to see what you can do."

Sayaka nodded. "You wish to test my skills?"

Kenta smirked. "Exactly. Let's have a duel."

Shizuka frowned. "Is that really necessary, Kenta?"

"Come on, Mom. I need to know if she can keep up with me. I can't have a bodyguard who can't even land a hit on me, right?"

Sayaka simply said, "I accept."

Kenta clapped his hands together. "Great! But let's do it in private. No witnesses. I don't want anyone else seeing what either of us is capable of."

Sayaka nodded again, showing no change in expression.

As they made their way to a secluded training area, Kenta couldn't help but sigh. 'What is my life turning into? First assassination attempts, now a robot maid bodyguard, and soon I'll be in Konoha. At this rate, I should start a betting pool on when I'll be fighting some crazy ninja overlord or a crazy ninja scientist.'
