Chapter 31: Aftermath
The control room doors slid open, and Izuku and Jiro stepped inside.
The room was still buzzing with conversation as the rest of Class 1-A discussed the previous battles. But the moment the two of them walked in, the noise died down.
All eyes turned toward Izuku.
Some were filled with shock, others with curiosity. A few, like Bakugo, simply looked annoyed.
Ignoring the stares, Izuku walked further in, his expression unreadable. Jiro followed behind him, glancing around before sighing.
"Well," she muttered, shoving her hands in her pockets. "That was intense."
Izuku didn't respond. He had other things on his mind.
At the front of the room, All Might stood with his arms crossed, his usual grin replaced with a serious expression.
"Young Midoriya, Young Jiro," he called out, his deep voice cutting through the silence. "Excellent work out there."
Jiro scratched the back of her head. "Uh… thanks?"
Izuku, however, simply nodded. He could tell All Might had more to say.
Sure enough, the Number One Hero's gaze lingered on him.
"We'll continue this discussion later," All Might said. "Young Midoriya, meet me in my office after classes. We need to talk."
Izuku's eyes narrowed slightly.
So, he wants to address what happened.
"Understood," he replied.
All Might nodded but didn't say anything else.
After leaving the control room, Izuku made his way toward the infirmary.
It wasn't exactly necessary Recovery Girl had already announced that Todoroki and Yaoyorozu would be fine, but still, he wanted to see for himself.
As he stepped inside, the faint smell of antiseptic filled the air. The room was quiet except for the steady beeping of medical equipment.
He immediately spotted Momo Yaoyorozu.
She was still unconscious, resting peacefully on the infirmary bed.
Guess I really overdid it.
His eyes then moved to Shoto Todoroki, who was already awake, sitting upright on his bed.
Todoroki's gaze flickered toward him, but he said nothing.
Izuku exhaled and walked closer.
"Hey," he said. "How are you feeling?"
Todoroki remained silent for a moment before replying, "…I'm fine."
Izuku rubbed the back of his neck. "Look, I know I went overboard. I just wanted to say… I'm sorry."
Todoroki's face remained neutral.
After a long pause, he finally responded.
"You were fighting to win," he said simply. "I don't need an apology for that."
Izuku studied him for a moment.
He wasn't sure if Todoroki was bothered by the fight or if he genuinely didn't care. His expression was unreadable.
Either way, he decided not to push further.
"Alright," Izuku said, nodding. "I'll check in on Momo again later."
Todoroki didn't respond.
Izuku turned away and made his way toward Recovery Girl's desk.
The elderly hero glanced up as Izuku approached, her wrinkled face kind but firm.
"I suppose you're here about them?" she asked, motioning toward the beds.
Izuku nodded. "Yeah… I just wanted to check in."
She sighed. "Both of them are fine. They'll recover fully by the end of the day."
Izuku exhaled, relieved.
"But," she added, giving him a pointed look, "you really did a number on them, young man."
He didn't deny it. "I know."
Her gaze softened slightly. "I understand that this is a battle exercise, but you need to be mindful. Going too far can have consequences."
Izuku nodded. "I'll keep that in mind."
She hummed in response, then waved her hand dismissively. "Now, off with you. Let them rest."
Izuku gave one last glance at Momo and Todoroki before leaving the infirmary.
As he walked back toward his classroom, Izuku's mind raced.
So, All Might wants to talk after school.
It was obvious what it would be about. His performance in the exercise.
The students' reactions, All Might's tone, Recovery Girl's warning, they all pointed to the same thing.
He had been too aggressive.
Izuku wasn't particularly bothered by that. Winning was winning.
But at the same time, he had to acknowledge that this was still a school setting. He wasn't in a life-or-death battle this was just training.
Still…
If this had been a real fight, holding back would've been a mistake. I should control myself from now on.
With those thoughts in mind, Izuku made his way back to class, preparing for his upcoming conversation with All Might.
The school day had ended.
Izuku stood outside the infirmary, his hands in his pockets, debating whether to check in on Momo before heading to All Might's office.
She was still unconscious when I last saw her…
He stepped inside, expecting to see her resting.
But the bed where she had been lying was empty.
Recovery Girl, sitting at her desk, looked up as he entered.
"You're looking for Miss Yaoyorozu, aren't you?" she asked knowingly.
Izuku nodded.
"She left a while ago," Recovery Girl informed him. "Soon after waking up, in fact."
Izuku blinked. She left already?
He had expected to at least get the chance to talk to her. Maybe apologize again.
But there was nothing he could do about it now.
With a short nod, he turned and left the infirmary.
As Izuku approached All Might's office, he mentally prepared himself.
Alright. This is probably going to be a lecture about "excessive force" or "hero ethics."
He exhaled, rolling his shoulders. He could handle a scolding.
As he raised his hand to knock, however.
He could hear All Might talking to someone inside.
Izuku's brows furrowed. Maybe Aizawa? Or the principal?
Before he could speculate further, All Might's voice called out from inside.
"Come in, Young Midoriya."
Izuku pushed the door open and stepped inside.
His footsteps halted.
The office was empty.
Except for All Might.
And a computer monitor displaying Hisashi Midoriya's face.
Izuku's entire body froze.
For the first time since transmigrating, his mouth actually fell open.
His father's stern expression stared at him from the screen.
There was no smile. No teasing.
Just a neutral expression that somehow felt scarier than anything else.
Izuku felt a chill crawl up his spine.
"Oh… shit."
All Might gestured to the chair across from him.
"Sit down, Young Midoriya."
Izuku obeyed immediately.
Before Izuku could even speak, Hisashi's sharp voice came through the speakers.
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING, IZUKU?!"
Izuku winced.
Oh yeah. He was in trouble.
"You put TWO of your classmates in the infirmary! TWO!" Hisashi's glare hardened. "Are you trying to get yourself expelled?!"
Izuku opened his mouth to defend himself...
"Don't even TRY to explain it!" Hisashi cut him off. "I saw the footage!"
Izuku shut his mouth.
All Might crossed his arms, his deep voice calmer but still firm.
"Young Midoriya… while I commend your ability to assess and control the battlefield, your methods were far too aggressive."
Izuku clenched his jaw. "I..."
"And you completely knocked Yaoyorozu unconscious before she could even fight back," All Might continued. "Tell me, how does that display heroic values?"
Izuku stayed silent.
Because he knew they were right.
He hadn't treated it like a hero exercise. He had treated it like a real battle.
Hisashi rubbed his temples. "Do you have any idea how bad this could have gotten?"
Izuku frowned. "But the school allows..."
"Don't talk back to me, Izuku!" Hisashi snapped. "Do you realize that Momo's family could've filed a formal complaint against you?"
Izuku's breath hitched slightly.
"They didn't," All Might added, "because they happen to know both me and your father personally."
Izuku's fingers tightened into fists.
"Wait… what?"
"They know you?" he asked, looking between All Might and Hisashi.
Hisashi sighed, his voice slightly calmer now. "Yes, they know me. And All Might."
Izuku sat completely still.
"Since when did my dad have high-profile connections?"
Hisashi continued. "I've been working in America for years, Izuku. I've met a lot of important people. Momo Yaoyorozu's parents. They're one of them."
All Might nodded. "They trust that this was simply a misjudgment on your part. But had this been any other student, had this been another high-profile family…"
His gaze hardened.
"You would be facing serious disciplinary action."
Izuku's mind raced.
He had never considered the political aspect of hero society.
To him, this was the anime 'My Hero Academia and kinda his new life.
But in a world where reputation and connections mattered where the wealthy and powerful had influence brute force alone wasn't enough.
For the first time since coming to this world, he realized his mistake.
His father's reputation had protected him today.
But it wouldn't always.
If he kept fighting like this, next time, he'd be on his own.
Hisashi sighed. "I didn't raise you to be reckless."
Izuku swallowed. "...I understand."
All Might studied him for a moment, then nodded. "Good. Learn from this, Young Midoriya."
Hisashi sighed again, shaking his head. "We'll talk more about this later."
Then, with a final stern look, he disconnected the call.
Izuku let out a breath he didn't realize he was holding.
All Might leaned back in his chair. "I trust you understand the importance of what we discussed."
Izuku nodded.
"Then that's all for today," All Might said. "You're dismissed."
Izuku stood up, still processing everything.
As he walked toward the door, his thoughts kept replaying the same question.
"Just how many connections does my dad have? .... Oh my god, Mom's gonna kill me"
