Chapter 32: A Lesson in Consequences
Izuku walked home at a slow pace, the day's events weighing heavily on his mind.
It wasn't the scolding from All Might that stuck with him.
It wasn't even the fact that he injured his classmates.
No, what really lingered in his thoughts was Hisashi's influence.
The fact that the Yaoyorozu family had not filed a complaint because they knew Hisashi personally.
"How many connections does my dad even have?"
This wasn't something he had considered before. His entire focus since arriving in this world had been on strength, training, and staying ahead of the plot.
But strength wasn't the only power in this world.
Reputation. Politics. Connections.
Those things could be just as dangerous.
"I got lucky this time. But what about next time?"
Lost in thought, he barely noticed when he arrived at his house.
Stepping inside, he was immediately greeted by the sight of his mother standing in the hallway.
She looked… worried.
Izuku forced a small smile. "Mom, I'm home."
Her expression didn't change.
"Izuku," she said quietly, taking his hand, "your father is on a video call."
Izuku's stomach dropped.
"Oh no."
She gently pulled him toward her room, where the computer screen displayed a familiar face of his dad.
And he did not look happy.
The moment Izuku stepped in front of the screen, Hisashi let loose.
"IZUKU. MIDORIYA!" His voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a whip.
Izuku instinctively straightened. "Y-Yes?"
"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?!" Hisashi slammed his hand against his desk. "I barely finished yelling at you in All Might's office, and now I find out you just went home like nothing happened?!"
Izuku winced. "I..."
What the hell was I supposed to do? He thought to himself.
"Do you have any idea how BAD this could have gone?!" Hisashi continued. "You put TWO of your classmates in the infirmary! Two! If this were a real mission, I'd understand! But this was a training exercise!"
Izuku stayed silent.
"And don't even try to argue!" Hisashi snapped. "Do you know how much trouble this could've caused if it weren't for me and All Might?!"
Inko, standing beside Izuku, finally spoke up.
"Hisashi, yelling won't change what happened," she said, her voice firm yet gentle.
Hisashi exhaled sharply, rubbing his temples. "I know, I know… but damn it, Inko, he needs to understand the gravity of this situation."
Izuku took a deep breath. "I get it. I messed up."
Hisashi's glare didn't soften. "You better. Because here's what's going to happen next."
Izuku tensed.
"You're going to personally visit the Yaoyorozu family and apologize to both Momo and her parents."
Izuku's eyes widened.
Hisashi continued, "And I don't mean a half-assed 'sorry.' I mean a real, formal apology. You will show respect, acknowledge your mistake, and make sure they understand that this won't happen again."
Izuku nodded vigorously. "Y-Yeah! Of course! I'll do it!"
Hisashi leaned back slightly. "Good."
Inko crossed her arms, her expression unreadable. "And after that, Izuku, I think you should reflect on your actions today."
Izuku sighed. "I already have, Mom."
Hisashi narrowed his eyes. "Then make sure you actually learn from this."
The room fell into silence.
Finally, Hisashi exhaled.
"Alright. That's enough for now."
Izuku relaxed slightly.
But then...
"Izuku, leave the room," Hisashi said. "I need to speak with your mother privately."
Izuku hesitated. His mother's worried expression hadn't changed since he got home.
"What does Dad want to talk to her about?"
But he didn't question it.
"Alright," he muttered, turning toward the door.
As he stepped out, he cast one last glance at his mother.
Her face still held the same concern.
Izuku sat on the edge of his bed, staring at the ceiling, deep in thought.
Hisashi's orders were clear.
"You're going to personally visit the Yaoyorozu family and apologize."
And he had no issue doing it. He owed them an apology.
Momo had been completely knocked out before she even had a chance to fight back, and her parents probably weren't thrilled about that.
Tomorrow was Saturday, meaning he had the entire day free.
"I should just get it over with."
The only problem?
He had no idea where they lived.
The Yaoyorozu family was rich, which meant they likely had a massive estate somewhere in the city. But even if he searched online, he doubted he'd find a clear address.
Which meant… he needed to ask someone who would know.
His homeroom teacher.
"Aizawa."
With a sigh, Izuku reached for his phone.
As he unlocked the screen, he noticed a few messages from his classmates.
Kaminari: "BRO. That was insane. Are you even human?"
Kirishima: "Dude, I gotta admit, that was pretty badass."
Jiro: "You owe me an explanation. Call me."
Mineta: "Teach me your ways, master."
Izuku rolled his eyes and ignored them.
Instead, he scrolled through his contacts until he found Aizawa's number.
Tapping it, he pressed the phone to his ear.
The call rang a few times.
Then a tired, groggy voice answered.
"...What do you want, Midoriya?"
Izuku hesitated. "Uh… hey, sensei. Sorry for calling so late."
"Then why did you?" Aizawa muttered, clearly not in the mood for small talk.
Izuku got straight to the point. "I need Momo Yaoyorozu's home address."
A brief silence. Then
"Why?" Aizawa asked flatly.
Izuku sighed. "I need to apologize to her and her family. In person."
Aizawa made a low humming sound. "So, your parents put you up to this?"
"...Yeah."
"Hmph." Aizawa sounded completely unsurprised. "Figured something like this would happen. The damage you did in that training exercise wasn't exactly subtle."
Izuku rubbed the back of his head. "I know. That's why I'm trying to make things right."
Aizawa sighed. "Listen, Midoriya. You need to be careful when dealing with elite families like the Yaoyorozus. Apologizing is good, but if you say one wrong thing, you might make things worse."
"I understand," he said.
Aizawa sighed again. "Alright, I'll send you the address. Don't do anything stupid."
"Thanks, sensei."
"Whatever."
Click.
The call ended.
Izuku glanced down as a message notification popped up.
[Aizawa-Sensei: "This is the Yaoyorozu estate address. Don't cause trouble."]
Izuku exhaled.
"Alright. One problem solved."
Now all he had to do was prepare for tomorrow.
And hope he didn't screw it up.
