Both Bakugou and Kaminari were eager to watch a battle between heroes and a villain, looking to see if there were any pointers they could see and make note of.
"He didn't just…"
Denki didn't finish his sentence, his jaw wide open; Kirishima, on the other hand, could only utter a simple "No way"; however, the person who was more shocked than both of them combined was Bakugou.
In order to properly become a hero, you need a hero license; this is mostly because, a majority of the time, people need guidance in using their quirks, and not only that but saving lives entails more than just beating up the villain. There were a lot of intricacies that needed attention and care.
Bakugou, in particular, has always held the belief that he was gifted, or rather, he has always been told that he was gifted and his potential to be a hero was massive; because of this, he held the belief that he had the upper hand when it came to his peers who also wanted to be a hero.
What he just witnessed was evidence that there was someone who was in the same age range as him who was better than him, with greater potential to be a hero.
The young man closed his jaw and clenched it hard in silent fury; his journey to become a hero had just started, and it was clear that he was not putting enough work in.
It was at this time that Kamui Woods undid his cage and asked about the well-being of the civilians before turning to speak to Mount Lady about what just happened.
Bakugou, as well as the other two, turned around, planning to go home, when he spotted Taro exiting one of the alleys before slowly jogging in their direction.
"I hope you guys can keep a secret"
He said with a cheeky and confident smirk on his face, only further causing Bakugou to fume silently.
"Taro what the fuck was that, dude?!!"
Denki asked as he got close up to his face, the young man was both shocked and excited about what he just witnessed.
"Nothing, I'm just built differently"
Taro responded playfully, a smirk still present in his face.
"That was so manly, Dude; now I need to see how much you can bench press!"
Kirishima, too, exclaimed with clear excitement on his face; the redhead couldn't help but feel that Taro was a great motivation; he was sure to surpass him in the future.
"fighting villains without a license is illegal"
Bakugou reminded the group, quickly killing the mood and bringing them back to reality
"Yes and? I don't care"
Taro answered, his tone dismissive and uncaring about the fact Bakugou just stated.
"Actually you should care, you could be thrown in jail for that or get a heavy fine for that"
Kirishima supplemented Bakugou's point; he was excited for Taro, but the fact still remained he could get heavily fined or jailed for using his quirk recklessly.
"Come on guys, I'm sure he's gonna get a slap on the wrist; I don't think anyone was hurt aside from buildings that were already destroyed."
Denki uttered, feeling they were just exaggerating; Taro was a student, and as such, Denki found it hard that the police would do more than just a verbal warning.
"Whatever, I'm going home"
Bakugou said as he walked away, at this point, he was in no mood to play games with them; he needed to train and be better, Better than Taro.
"Oh come one Bakugou, that's gonna make the numbers uneven, if we're gonna be playing some games we need you"
Denki pleaded.
"I don't care! I'm going home"
Denki sighed in defeat, feigning a look of sadness; he was looking forward to wiping the floor with them at Smash Heroes, a superhero fighting game.
"Well, I still want to see your bench press… but my mom will probably freak out if I don't make it home after this incident"
Kirishima expressed that as his enthusiasm was suddenly washed away by that realization.
"Yeah same, sorry"
Denki concurred and sighed in disappointment. Taro, on the other hand, couldn't help but be slightly shocked that they were still living with their parents, but he realized that no one had the same privileges as him.
"Too bad, see ya later then"
He expressed before giving them a fist bump and they all walked away. Taro couldn't help but feel a bit sad but at least he made some friends, so that was good.
"I wonder if Momo did the same"
He wondered before slowly floating up and flying to his home, completely disregarding any eyes that may have noticed him.
....
Taro softly landed on the roof of a multi-story apartment building before walking towards the bulkhead, entering, and then making his way down the stairs.
The young man still felt a sense of disappointment and his desire to have a bit of fun was still unsatisfied.
'When are the real bad guys going to show up'
Taro was, to an extent, aware that he was reincarnated into this world. However, his memories were a bit jumbled and somewhat mixed up, and the only thing he knew was that this world he was in was that of anime.
Unfortunately, he couldn't really say which anime it was, and even if he did know, he doubted if he would know the plot, but at the very least, he knew there must be some bad guys to fight.
He also attributed his desire to have " fun" to being a Viltrumite, but unlike Saiyans, Viltrumite were not battle-hungry by their nature, not unless he's misremembering, so his desire to have fun may be his own.
"Well whatever, it's not like I need to fight someone, or maybe I should have just become a QMMA fighter"
He uttered that since he did not have much of a desire to become a hero, he was mostly attending UA for his sister's sake; becoming a QMMA fighter was a good way for him, people who could give him a fair fight.
He shrugged his shoulders and sighed, as he decided to shelve the idea for the time being. Maybe he will entertain it later or when the boredom gets unbearable, but for the time being, it was fine.
After having descended the stairs, he arrived before an elevator, which took him down a single floor before he arrived at the apartment that he and his sister shared.
The elevator directly led into the apartment, which was incredibly spacious and resembled more of a penthouse than an apartment.
As he walked in, he was surprised to see one of his classmates, it was Uraraka, and she was on the phone.
"Yes, mom. I'm fine, I wasn't even at the scene when that happened"
She said, with unhidden exasperation in her voice; her parents weren't the most strict in the world, but they did tend to overreact unnecessarily.
"I'm at a friend's house right now."
"Yes, I understand mom, I haven't forgotten"
Seeing that she was busy, Taro decided to float around her and make his way to the living room. He felt it was a bit rude to listen in on a private conversation.
Making his way to the living room he was greeted by the sight of the rest of the girls from his class, watching the news and talking about the recent villain attack.
[At present, the picture is just a blur as the cameras were unable to get a clear image, however…..]
The news anchor on the TV spoke, reporting on the events however, the TV was relegated to background noise as the girls had already begun a conversation regarding what happened.
"Do you guys think it's a vigilante? or is it a hero that we know?"
Toru Hagakure questioned her tone conveying her curiosity about the blurred picture of the hero that took down the villain that had been giving Mount Lady and Kamui Woods some trouble.
"I think someone that powerful would probably have a hero license already, I bet it's Hawks, he's the fastest hero in Japan"
Kyouka suggested while playing with her earlobe, twirling it around her finger like a rope.
"I don't think it's Hawks; He doesn't operate in this city, maybe all Might?"
Tsuyu stated, but unsure of her guess. She felt it was more possible that it was All Might than anyone else, but at that same time, he would stay and help out civilians instead of just disappearing.
"Speaking of all Might, do you guys know about that new reality TV show I MIGHT love"
Mina Ashido chimed in, inserting a topic that was completely unrelated to what was being discussed.
"What does that have to do with–"
"Oh my Gosh! I saw that. I watched it yesterday, it‐"
Toru whose eyes had lit up at the mention of the new reality TV show she's recently started watching was immediately interrupted, her words being cut off mid-sentence
"How'd you get here before me?"
Taro questioned with some mild confusion; he was certain he had, and the rest of the boys left the class before the girls.
"We took a taxi, you can fly. Why did we get here before you?"
Momo answered and also asked her own question, focusing the attention of the group on Taro who simply shrugged. However, before he could answer the question, the silence of the room allowed them to properly hear the news.
[Thank you for your patience, viewers. Thanks to our skilled technicians, we've managed to unblur the image and get a clear image, and by the looks of it, the hero that assisted Kamui Woods and Mount Lady wasn't a hero at all but a student at UA University!]
Hearing such news, everyone quickly turned their heads towards the news and saw the clear picture of Taro colliding with the villain.
Seeing the picture on TV they then slowly turned to look at Taro with curious gazes.
"No way!"
It was Uraraka that broke the silence, as she returned to living after having finished her phone call with her mother.
"Taro, that's crazy!! How did you do it?"
Mina Ashido asked; however, her words opened the gates as the rest of the girls bombarded Taro with a myriad of questions, with the exception of Kyouka and Momo, who simply stayed silent.
"How'd you do it?"
"Are you a vigilante?"
"How fast are you?"
"You could get arrested for that"
Unfortunately, before he could answer any questions, the phone in his pocket rang, alerting him that he was receiving a call, prompting him to take it out of his pocket and see that it was a call from his father. He answered.
"Hello, Dad"
The deep voice of an older gentleman sounded from the other side of the phone and caused the girls to suddenly go silent.
"That's not a picture of me you're seeing on the news"
The man said his tone, conveying his anger clearly; this caused Taro to frown.
"It was just a bit of fun Dad, there's nothing to be mad about"
"No, I didn't change my mind, can't I just use my quirk, because for some fun, it's mine isn't it?"
"But I wasn't, what's the issue?"
There was an audible sigh that left the older gentleman's mouth, one could easily tell he was pinching the bridge of his nose in frustration.
The father explained, having realised that yelling would yield no results. It's been barely a week yet his son was already causing trouble, he couldn't help but shake his head, it seemed like the boy was going to continue to be a headache.
"Fine, I guess I'll be careful next time"
"What! Dad wait–"
Unfortunately the call was dropped before Taro could say anything.
"Fuck!"
he exclaimed in frustration, already considering if what he did was a good idea or not. He never particularly understood why he can't just use his powers whenever they're his and thus as long as he doesn't hurt anyone it should be fine.
For some reason usage of quirks outside of hero work or specific jobs is frowned upon, it did not make any sense to him, or was it a plot by the government to maintain control over the citizens and maintain an old sense of normal in a world that's a different kind of normal.
"That's what you get"
Momo said with a smirk on her face, finding the cut in his allowance to be quite humorous. although she didn't think it mattered considering they got quite the hefty sum of money as an allowance.
"Oh shut up!"
Taro responded in frustration before he made his way to his bedroom, and his frustration only served to amuse his sister more. However after his departure there was an awkward silence that was left hanging.
"So, he doesn't want to be a hero?"
Mina was the first to speak and hearing such a question Momo couldn't help but feel a little bad for Taro as now their new classmates will probably feel insulted.
