Chapter 55 - They're in the walls

His eyes fluttered open as he looked ahead up at the sea above.

"Hey, you. You're finally awake," Amais said, looking at the tall boy in front of him, who was now bound and squirming on the floor, helpless. "Shouldn't have tried killing me," he said honestly as he watched the boy.

"Don't tease the kid; look at him so sad and helpless." Elentera giggled, having a malicious glint in her eyes.

"He's probably more scared of you than me," Amais muttered plainly as Elentera frowned before grabbing him and biting hard into his neck and Amais winced, looking at her annoyed as she drank before sighing relieved.

"Ok, I forgive you," She said triumphantly fulfilled.

"I don't," he muttered, holding his neck as she smiled playfully; meanwhile, the boy spat in the language once more. "What's he saying?" Amais asked curiously.

"His hatred about vampires then this and that, mostly boring politics," she said honestly before grabbing a piece of angler and shoving it in his mouth. "There now, he's done," she said happily.

"It's raw meat," he noted as she chuckled.

"What better to feed a wolf than a piece of meat?" she said mirthfully as Amais felt bad before looking at the boy who ate it hungrily, tearing through it with sharp canines that were unlike Elentera's, being less sharp but they were built to crush.

From the North and she calls them wolves

He brushed off his thought for the moment to think of what they should do next.

"So we're taking him with us now?" Elentera asked, a bit annoyed by the prospect and Amais nodded.

"He's still your classmate, right? what harm is there?" he said carefree.

"He tried to kill you," she noted bluntly.

"Everything does," he said, brushing it off casually.

She nodded before facing the Northerner. "Gyr, Lu arag, arvor uf gary urmor gremr myre ravuruk om arakur turut, armon?" she asked mockingly to the boy, who was red with fury, as Amais was just left confused but could tell by the boy's face and her tone it wasn't kind.

"Stop teasing the," he paused. "wolf," he said, unsure what the boy's name was as she rolled her eyes, annoyed but giving a playful smile. He was unsure if she was mad or kidding. Maybe she was just teasing the kid or just really hated the North.

"What's his name?" Amais asked curiously as Elentera looked at the boy and asked him in which he responded gruffly.

"Zerara."

"Zerara, what's that mean?" Amais asked curiously but she shrugged, unsure.

"Something of the Northern tongue but that's long gone," she said honestly, leaving him curious as to what she meant but shrugging it off for the time being as he looked at the boy.

"We should get going; then maybe we'll find more of your classmates." Amais suggested.

"Sure, where to now, Amais? are we going to get lost again with your oh-so-great navigating?" She teased playfully as he gave a deadpan stare.

"It's great, all right, amazing even. In fact, how dare you insinuate my navigating is terrible? It was one mistake, I'll have you know," he said dramatically as she chuckled.

"One mistake too much, though," she said playfully and then grabbed Zerara, yanking him up as the three began to walk with the boy following soon after reluctantly but not wanting to be alone.

They walked through the bland maze they were going backwards from where the moose was Amais had guessed that they wanted to go towards the moose. At least he had guessed so from the bones. What if they were just in a completely different part of the maze, and he had no idea?

"Huh," he pondered, looking ahead.

"Hey, what's that look on your face, Amais?" Elentera asked.

"You were right," he admitted as a wide grin found her lips.

"We are lost then, huh?" she asked as he nodded.

"Can't you make portals, though?" he asked curiously.

"Usually I can, though there's a few problems Firstly, the only person who can go through the portal is me. Then there's the fact it's tethered to my room at the moment so I can go there but can't come back."

He looked at her confused. "Why not just go back then?"

She laughed at him and he frowned. "What fun is there in that? I'm having such a great time," she said happily before looking at him, feigning shock. "U-Unless you don't want me here, Amais," she said, feigning hurt as he shook his head quickly.

"Good, now there are so many different choices of where to go," she pondered curiously before smiling. "Here, let's go there, shall we? I have a good feeling," she said casually, choosing to go away from the bones they were in, happily marching.

Time passed for what felt like forever as they walked through the grimy, damp place. They passed many forks and watched creatures flee as they came near. It was boring how long they walked with nothing eventful. Nothing interesting until finally they heard clashing in the distance. By the time they were there, however, there was nothing. Elentera stopped looking at a wall, particularly a crack in it; Movement could be heard from behind it as rocks fell against something. The three looked curiously.

Amais stopped and stepped closer curious and leaned until his eye was to the crack. There was nothing, just darkness, which confused him.

"There's nothing there," he muttered honestly until the eye opened and he stumbled back, looking at the wall.

"There was an eye there," he mumbled as Elentera grabbed the wall and waled casually to it, her hand entered carefully and curled around the stone then, with some effort, ripped the rock as someone stumbled forward as dust and particles filled the air, a cloud formed as silver clashed between a male vampire who had white skin, white hair, red eyes, and quite skinny then a girl from the North who wore a wolf's cloak attached to leather attire and had orange eyes with large round pupils. The girl was gasping for air as the vampire took advantage of it, striking viciously as she barely parried with each dagger. Zerara went to intervene, but Elentera held a sword at his throat as the other northern girl caught sight; she faltered for just a moment seeing the other wolf as the male vampire went for the finisher. Elentera glared at him and he shuddered and then fell.

Tension was high now and Amais just looked at the wall; it began to heal already.

Why were they inside the wall?

Amais sighed tiredly and just watched curiously as the events played in his head. Boy vampire whined. Elentera scolded him. Girl wolf talked to Elentera; it was civil then they bickered. Soon the quiet conversation had quickly escalated as they spoke venomously to each other. But his ears rang as he could hear scraping on the walls. He was confused. he looked at the others, who were oblivious to the noise that didn't belong. But it didn't stop there. Then he heard water from a tap. That's what it sounded like as his eyes looked around him, trailing the noise.

The world narrowed as he heard what they couldn't. He could see what they didn't. Down the right hall they were in and round the corner at the dead end, he saw a knight. He wore pitch-black armour that was crude and worn out, damaged by creatures of all kinds in this horrid place. He walked, tinged with darkness, limping as the black dripped to his armour, then to the floor, and fell into a puddle that rippled, then tainted black. Whatever purpose the man came for no longer mattered, as he was tainted dark. He stepped slowly and stopped, barely visible in the darkness in the cloud of dark mist that seemed to follow. He turned his head; their eyes met and bore into his.

Amais's heart dropped. He didn't care about whatever political tension was happening as his fist met the wall and it cracked. The others looked at him; his actions broke the arguing and left only quiet as they thought him mad and maybe he was in this moment, but it didn't matter. His fingers grasped and pulled the crevices now in the wall, holding with a deathly grip as the feeling of dread crept through like a second skin. The others stopped their fighting as Elentera checked on him, confused.

"What's happening?" she asked.

"A bad man," he muttered as terror laced his voice.

"What can I do?" She asked calmly.

"The wall," he said honestly, not caring if he sounded like an idiot or anything right now. He could feel something was wrong. Something vile was approaching them and it made his stomach tight and heart pound.

It's the same vibe as the shadow.

He was too focused in his head to see the spectacle as a glowing blue radiant light blurred past him and the wall that was once there was gone.

"Is that good?" she asked as he grinned wide, nodding before grabbing the others and shoving them to the other side and about to do the same with Elentera but he stopped and gently tugged her along with him instead as the wall healed efficiently behind. It wasn't enough. The knight saw him and he saw it.

Elentera was still vexed as she looked at him. "Amais, why'd you..." her question would be left unanswered as Amais was now looking up at the wall where the barnacles were.

"Oh, damn it." he muttered

She looked at him confused. "What?"

He didn't speak as the barnacles emitted a vile sound that rang through all of their ears. everyone reached to cover the horrid noise, even Amais but he heard a faint singing as he listened closely. As souls of long past sang a song, a warning only he could hear.

The knight who fought to dark.

The knight who fell to dark.

The knight who succumbed to dark.

Praise Ranan who fought and tried

Who bide the time for us, who cried

Who walked of hope now steps of dread,

The holy image broken shattered;

By the abyss it bled

Beware the Abysswalker

"Just run and tell them to run. He's coming," Amais yelled to Elentera pleadingly, who looked at him skeptically, but his desperation was real even if it made no sense to her at this moment and she relented, nodding. As she said whatever she said, Amais watched them sprint, and he joined. Quickly, she cleaved through walls with her sword as they lasted a solid fifteen minutes before exhaustion carried the others down. Not Amais or Elentera, though she was sweating at least.

Elentera looked at Amais, who showed no fatigue even being undead. she wasn't immune to exhaustion even if it wasn't physical exhaustion "Jeez, Amais, how does that work?" Elentera asked curiously as he was zoned out. she punched his shoulder as he looked at her confused.

"SO are you going to tell me what you were scared about?" she asked as he nodded.

"The abysswalker," he said honestly as she raised an eyebrow.

"Like gravewalker?" she teased.

"Well, uhm, not exactly. I heard it from a guy with barnacles," he said honestly as she looked at him and chuckled.

"Whatever you say, Amais, tell me after," she said tiredly and slipped on the floor with the other three. But at this moment he didn't care; as he looked even now far away, it still saw him.
