Nathan's POV
The guards left me in the room all alone, and I fell asleep without even realizing it.
When I woke up, the surface I was lying on was hard under my body. I felt the pressure around my wrists and ankles. I felt the chill from the cold floor running through my bones.
As I turned, my eyes wide open now, I almost jumped out of my skin when I saw what was in front of me.
There was a man sitting at the edge of the bed, watching me closely. He was hunched over, and from the look of it, he had been watching me sleep for a while.
I jerked back instinctively, scrambling toward the wall to put some distance between me and the man. My heart raced, and my eyes darted around for something—anything—but my arms were still chained, and I couldn't do anything.
The man only smiled after watching me. "Relax. You're safe." He sat upright and continued to watch me.
