Chapter 21 - 21. A City In Chaos

After posting his findings online, Splendor slept like a baby. When he woke up, he remembered he had to check on Leticia. He quickly brushed his teeth and saw that the sun was soon going to set. He then went straight to Leticia's room. The moment he entered the room, he was surprised because there was already a man standing next to her, while she was still asleep. The man was staring out through a window, so Splendor did not see his face.

"I must agree, you have developed this place…it's unbelievable," the man praised.

"Okay… compliments appreciated. Do I know you?" Splendor asked, looking at Leticia from a distance.

The man sniggered, still not moving, and said, "Twenty years back, I was standing right here when she was born. I looked at her in that chamber through a glass and felt her cry weakening my joints. It was the day Leticia breathed her first."

The splendor listened carefully, trying to understand if the man was claiming to be Leticia's father. At that instant, the man showed his face, which had scars. The man looked very massive. A well ironed white shirt lined his bull chest and made it easy to see that the man had six packs. He had his hands inside the side pockets of his black trousers.

"I am Orionos, Leticia's father," the man introduced himself. Splendor felt the man's voice thundering in his ears. He wondered why he didn't feel the same effect when the man talked before he introduced himself.

The man's voice not only affected Splendor's ears, but he also felt even the air in the room condensing. His breath became heavy. He tried to accept that the man who was triumphing was Leticia's father. When he was trying to make himself believe, Leticia's mother came. He didn't believe the coincidence.

On realizing the man in the room with Splendor, Leticia's mom froze. That made Splendor believe that, indeed, the man was Leticia's father. For sure, there were many things he didn't know. Leticia's mother ran to her daughter, thinking Orionos had done something. She saw Leticia was still asleep. She then connected her eyes with Orionos' eyes and questioned his mission in the city. It seemed Orionos had been away for many years since he disappeared in the city.

People knew him as the devil slaughter. The tales, which were then enveloped to be reality, had the information that in centuries back, the devils lived and dominated. They killed innocent people by creating a population of their kind. To protect innocent people from vanishing in history, people formed alliances and trained to fight the devils. That fight continued generation after generation until Orionos' age came. He was trained since as a youth until he was a full grown-up man. Thereafter, he led people to fight, though in the end, he dreamed of having powers as the devils. He tried all means to get the powers the devils possessed.

When his dream failed to be a reality, he ended by having the magical powers that were far nearer to what he dreamed. Although they went comparable to what he wanted, he became stronger. He changed to be a beast, killing even the innocent people he was fighting for. He lost his cause. His wife, Leticia's mother, tried to kill him with a snake's poison, but she failed. He left the Skyling city to create his army and promised to come back to rule the city. When he left, Leticia and Mariana were young.

Orionos' return was a puzzle to be solved as Leticia's mother was asking herself if he was back to take the city as he once said. She tried to imagine the behaviours of her daughters when they saw their father and learning how beast he was.

"I don't have empty promises… it's happening now," Orionos said, and he chuckled.

When he said those words, the impossible happened at the SPD station. All cell doors opened. Prisoners saw an opportunity to escape. Chris didn't think twice. Along the corridors, fights were already erupting. Some prisoners were fighting each other while others were fighting the police. In that chaos, Kelvana found Mr. Kenneth and told him about Orionos. It seemed Mr. Kenneth already knew everything. Instead of straight aiming to escape, Mr. Kenneth led other prisoners, killing every police officer they saw in the corridors. The prisoners ended up having the police guns.

When Kort and Officer K reached the prison, it was already bad. They threw away their badges and stood aside to avoid being killed. However, the kick fell on Kort's face. She instantly fell to the ground. Officer K reacted, removing his pistol from his belt, but he was too slow. Mr. Kenneth had him at gunpoint and ordered him to be still. Kelvana had his gun at Kort, and he had thought he killed them by an explosion. However, he was wrong, so confusion swept through him when he remembered what he told Orionos. He didn't hesitate to pull the trigger at Kort. Luckily for Kort, Kelvana was out of the bullets.

Mr. Kenneth then pointed his pistol at Kort. Officer K went in front of the pistol and told his brother that if he wanted to kill Kort, he had to kill him first. It was when Mr. Kenneth blamed his brother for letting him go to prison, and there he was, protecting Kort. He hit him by the butt of the pistol and pulled Kelvana as they ran away. Chris suddenly appeared to Kort and Officer K. He also had a pistol. Officer K quickly removed his pistol and pointed it at him, and said, "If you do anything silly, I won't hesitate to shoot you. We are here for you."
