CESAR
"This is my company," I snap at Casey. "I can do whatever the hell I fucking want."
Her eyes narrow, fiery and defiant. "This has nothing to do with him. You can't punish Jasper for something I did. That's not fair. I'm willing to take the blame for whatever happened. But you can't fire him."
A cold smile spreads across my face. She doesn't know, does she?
I was never going to fire Jasper. I've been with him since day one, before any of this, before I even came here. Jasper knows my company like I do. I could walk away today, leave it in his hands, and not lose a wink of sleep. But watching Casey panic? Seeing her ready to throw herself under the bus for him?
That opens a door I didn't even know I could use. And it makes me smile harder. It makes her nervous. Beautifully, deliciously nervous.
