Chapter 52 - Chapter 53: The Trap is Set

POV: Male Lead (Min-jae)

Min-jae wasn't going to sit back and wait for his father to make the next move.

This time, he would strike first.

He stood in his office, staring at the city skyline. The weight of responsibility, of protecting Ha-neul, of guarding everything he had built, pressed heavy on his shoulders.

But he wasn't alone anymore.

The door opened, and Ha-neul stepped inside.

"You called me?" she asked.

Min-jae turned, his gaze sharp.

"I'm going to end this," he said.

She crossed her arms. "And how exactly do you plan to do that?"

His lips curved into a dark smile. "By playing his game… and beating him at it."

Ha-neul sighed. "Min-jae, if you're thinking of walking into a trap, that's—"

"No," he cut in. "We set the trap. He thinks he's in control, but he's not."

She studied him carefully. "What do you have in mind?"

Min-jae grabbed a folder from his desk and handed it to her.

Inside were documents, bank transactions, and classified information—proof of his father's illegal dealings.

Ha-neul's eyes widened. "Where did you get this?"

Min-jae smirked. "He's not the only one with spies."

She exhaled. "And what do we do with this?"

Min-jae's voice was firm.

"We expose him. Publicly. In a way he can't escape."

POV: Female Lead (Ha-neul)

It wasn't going to be easy.

Min-jae's father was a powerful man, and cornering him was like trapping a wolf.

A desperate man was a dangerous man.

That night, Ha-neul sat in front of her laptop, analyzing the evidence. She needed a flawless plan—one that wouldn't give him time to retaliate.

A sudden message popped up on her screen.

Anonymous: You're making a mistake, doctor.

Her breath caught.

Anonymous: Walk away before it's too late.

She stared at the message, her heartbeat quickening.

Someone was warning her.

Or threatening her.

She quickly traced the IP address. Seoul. Close.

She grabbed her phone and dialed Min-jae.

He picked up instantly.

"Something's wrong," she said. "Someone is watching us… and they just made contact."

The silence on the other end was deadly.

"Stay where you are," Min-jae ordered. "I'm coming to you now."

Ha-neul took a shaky breath.

The trap was set.

But they weren't the only ones hunting.
