POV: Female Lead (Ha-neul)
The sound of sirens echoed through the night as the ambulance pulled up outside the mansion.
Ha-neul sat beside Tae-sung in the ambulance, pressing a gauze pad against his wound. His face was pale, his breathing shallow.
"Stay with me, Tae-sung," she whispered, her voice shaking.
Min-jae sat across from her, his jaw clenched. His father's words still echoed in the back of his mind.
"There are forces at play much bigger than me… or you."
What had he meant?
As the ambulance raced toward the hospital, Ha-neul turned to Min-jae.
"Your father… what is he planning?"
Min-jae met her gaze, his eyes dark with uncertainty. "I don't know. But whatever it is, it's not over."
The moment they arrived at the hospital, the paramedics rushed Tae-sung into surgery. Ha-neul and Min-jae were left waiting outside the emergency room, the air thick with tension.
Min-jae ran a hand through his hair in frustration. "I should have stopped him."
Ha-neul placed a hand on his arm. "This isn't your fault, Min-jae."
Before he could respond, his phone buzzed.
Unknown number.
He hesitated before answering.
"Who is this?"
A deep voice came through the speaker.
"You're looking for answers, aren't you, Kang Min-jae?"
Min-jae stiffened. "Who the hell are you?"
"I'm the man your father is afraid of."
Ha-neul's eyes widened as she listened.
Min-jae tightened his grip on the phone. "What do you want?"
A dark chuckle came from the other end.
"I want to watch your father fall… and you might be the key to making that happen."
The line went dead.
Min-jae stared at the phone, his heart pounding.
Who was this man? And why was his father afraid of him?
Ha-neul swallowed hard. "Min-jae… what if this is bigger than we thought?"
Min-jae's eyes darkened.
"It is."
And they were about to find out just how deep this conspiracy ran.
