I am the happiest man on earth right now, I never expected such birthday gift from my wife or anyone else. I have been trying to acquire that Eclipse yacht since the last decade but I couldn't.
" Darling why are not sleeping" my wife asked. " I can't sleep because am so excited" I told her pecking her lips but the softness of her lips always draws me in for more. " You always find an excuse to kiss me" my wife said
" If I don'lt, who will? And you always take every opportunity to spoil me with gifts and I'll live all my life paying for them" I told her.
"We're married and that's what we should do for each other, my closet is filled up with clothes, bags, shoes accessories from high end brands of which some I've not worn and you still buy more, funny enough you take out the once I've used and those I didn't use within a year, why do you do that. I love those clothes you know" I scoffed
" My wife only wears the best" I said
" The best husband as well" she murmured
" I won't say am the best husband but trying to be a good and better husband by his Almighty might grace" i said but she was already breathing evenly indicating she's asleep
Since two days I've been working late, am trying to work ahead on some important paperwork that needs my attention for the period I won't be available. And for this two days Ethan Mark has sent me a friend request on Facebook, just yesterday my wife told me he requested for my contacts as he wants us to meet.
Ethan Mark and I were close buddies from childhood but he became selfish and self centered and he's mother influenced him more. He knew Vida and I were engaged to be wedded the following month but, he went proposing to her publicly to her that was the last straw I could take from him.
" Come in" I responded to the knock on the door
" Mr chairman the meeting starts in five minutes" my assistant reported.
" Hmm, take these am done with it" I pointed at the signed files. Some of these directors are not in support of me using attorney Frederick as the company's attorney. I don't care what they think or not I no what I want.
I stepped out of my office and got into the elevator with my assistant, then went to the first floor, where the conference room is, that wasn't the actual location but was on same floor as the chairmans office, it was changed few years before grandpa retired as chairman. Immediately I got came out, I saw Ethan Mark at the front desk, ' what is he doing here's I murmured.
"Ethan Mark" I called him and he sighed before walking up to me.
"What do you want? " I went straight to the point
" Can we talk somewhere" said Ethan
" And why will I do that" though I might have forgiven him but I've not forgotten, is that even possible. " I got a... You handle those directors" I had a change of thought about the meeting, I don't want to be angry that is why I asked my assistant to stand in for me, then signaled Ethan Mark to come with me to my office. It's best I go round up those files soon.
" You may seat, I got work so, I can't go out now" I told him
"It's okay" he said taking a seat
"So, why have you been pestering me young master Mark" I asked
" I know I've wronged you in the past, that am sorry about, I had no option than to come to you because what I want won't happen if you don't allow it" he said and I gave him the " what do you mean " look.
" What I mean is attorney Frederick has held my plea to the court on hold, she said you don't approve of her being my attorney in the case. I know our past encounter won't be forgiven but this is me asking for your permission please" he said and I am surprised to see the arrogant man plead, his children are important to him than anything, ha! it's not a good idea to let your enemies find out your weak point it might be used against you sooner or later' I thought within me.
" You seem desperate to have come up to me, what exactly put you to this?" I asked though I know the reason but I won't let him off. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed.
" You can keep it if you don't want to share I..."
" No that's not it. After I relocated abroad I was caught up with one of the rising actress who got pregnant, we got wedded to months into her pregnancy. But after three years I discovered she was a cheap slut, bringing different men to our home when am at the office or traveled for business trips. I confronted her with evidence and filled for a divorce but she has denied me custody of my kids but, she's using them as a means to extort funds from me. That's her country I might not win over her there but here and with attorney Frederick am sure of it". He said running his hand on his hair once more and habit I know so well when ever he's frustrated. I picked up my phone to call my wife but he call came through " Seems my missing rib knows my thoughts even from such a distance" I said when I answered
" Oh, I thought you're missing me so you called..... You haven't had lunch yet... Okay I'll be on my way.... No I haven't I lost track of time..... Yes attorney Frederick.... I'll be there... love babe". I actually forgot the reason I wanted to call her seems I'll tell her when I see her.
" Alright dude, do you mind joining us for lunch" I asked Ethan
" Have fun, am good... Thank you Victor" he said
"No probs" I said giving his shoulder a tap as we both got into the elevator.
