Achilles
I gather my Myrmidons. They are the strongest and legendary warriors who ever walked the earth. They are unmatched in strength and bravery! My men are strong and faithful and only follow me. I need to witness this war for myself. I, being stubborn, must determine for myself whether I should get involved. I needed to see the faces of the men's lives in my hands, the lives I would end. It did matter to me. I doubt any of them might be able to beat me in battle, as I stood my ground against the mightiest opponents, and they proved to be vain compared to me.
"Let's march!" All the men banged their swords on their shields. I hope they understand the task. The chore was to assess the situation, and that's all. No blood shall be shed today. None.
The sun was hot as it beat down on my armor, causing sticky sweat to appear in my helmet. Although it was a short walk, it felt like it took hours. Hours of me wondering if this was the right choice.
I heard the bells chime. I felt myself growing impatient as we were miles away but could already see the beauty of Troy's defenses. They were ready.
"What is your business here?" Hector's voice was loud and demanded my attention. My soldiers laughed.
"Just spectators," I replied.
Hector laughed, cocking his head to the side. My gaze shifted to a beauty that resembled a goddess, the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. Her deep blue eyes were stunning, like the water surrounding us.
"Briseis, what are you doing here?" I heard the fear in Hector's voice. This girl was obviously royalty, so sweet and harmless.
"Don't worry, we won't harm her."
"She is my cousin. Please, this war isn't with her."
Before I could utter a word, a soldier lunged at Hector, and the loud clash of swords rang in the air. I watched in fear as the two men battled savagely, each strike sharper than the last. Who dared to defy me? My heart raced, caught between the chaos of their fight and the desperate urge to intervene and stop everything with my power, my authority. Then I saw him dead on the ground. Patroclus. Damn it, why? My world felt empty and dark. He was my cousin, and I loved him deeply. I felt madness running through my body and then my soul. Hector will pay, but not today. "You killed my cousin, so now I am taking yours."
As my Myrmidons surrounded us, I quickly grabbed Briseis and tossed her over my shoulder. Her cries pierced the air as she struggled against me, but my armor absorbed the blows she delivered to my back. I couldn't help but gently slap her ass, a moment of playfulness within the havoc.
"Hush now," I murmured, trying to reassure her as we began to walk away from the battlefield. The sounds of clashing metal and distant yells and cries faded into the night. It was taken over by the rhythm of my heartbeat and her quiet sobs.
