"Thank you." I mutter, climbing down the bike.
"You saved me again." I say, checking the time. Happy that I was about ten minutes early.
Alex grins, "Of course, what are friends for?"
I smile. "I am heading in. See you later." I say, waving him bye. He nods, waving back. I look ahead, walking towards the walk-in, "Sie!" I hear him, I turn around.
I tilt my head, he chuckles, "If you want, I can come pick up later." I widen my eyes, "Uh, no, I don't want to trouble you." I say, shaking my head with a smile.
"No worries. I will be busy around. If I am still around, then I will come. Do call." He says, gesturing with his hand, I no,d chuckling as I wave him bye, making my way in. I frown as I feel some people eyeing me.
They are watching, is it because I had a man drop me off? Are they gossiping again? I sigh, nosy bitches.
Blinking my eyes, I realize something.
Fuck.
How can I do that?
It's like digging my own grave.
I asked him to apply here. But, the main problem is… Luthien.
How can I lie to others just for his sake? I mean, will Alex even be okay with that?
I groan, "Miss Damaris!" I flinch, I turn around, and I see Amelia and Amy rushing to me. What got me gaping is the smirk on Amelia's face. Amy rushes to me, hugging me, "Aww~ Who was he?" She grins.
"Oh, my friend." I say, smiling awkwardly.
"Friend, huh?" Amelia says, I nod.
They nod, grinning with that suspicious look. "Let's go, we will be late." I mumble, walking ahead while they giggle, walking after me.
I sigh, I regret.
I hope he rejects the idea of applying, I can't afford to have him around.
The constant pressure to keep up different identities for different people is too tiring.
"Did you both reach home well?" I ask, trying to change the topic as we walk to the elevator. "Yeah, I had a worse hangover." Amy says, groaning while Amelia chuckles, "You drank way too much."
"I swear, I am not drinking again." I mutter, huffing.
"Right!" Amy says, pouting, "Next time, Sie, you should stop me from drinking too!" She adds, clinging to me, I chuckle, nodding my head. Amelia shakes her head, "Idiot."
Amy huffs, smacking Amelia's arm.
"Yah!"
Amy rushes to my side, behind her as she looks at Amelia, tucking her tongue out. I chuckle, shaking my head.
The elevator dings open, and I walk out. Amy rushes along with me while Amelia rolls her eyes, chuckling as she walks out.
"I wonder if Dean is okay." Amy chuckles. I remember he was even more drunk than Amy.
Amelia grins, "I bet he looks like a zombie. Last time he came here, with dark eyes." She says, laughing out loud as Amy joins her. I widen my eyes, chuckling, "He did?"
Amy nods, "If you are lucky, he will be upstairs, snoring on his desk."
I giggle as we make our way to the office.
"See!" Amy laughs out loud.
I looked around, finding Dean really sprawled across the chair, sleeping; he looked like he had a rough night. I chuckle, "Poor him."
"Yet he never says no to drinks." Amelia says, "He even makes a plan for drinks, dragging us along." Amy adds, shaking her head. She walks to Dean, smacking his back with her arm. Dean yelps, jolting up while Amy laughs.
"Wake up, Mr. zombie." She mumbles, pulling out a small bottle, "Drink this, you will feel better." She says, I look at them, brow raised, then at Amelia, who grins, shaking her head, hinting there definitely is something going on between them.
I smile, biting my lip.
I walk towards my desk, "Vier isn't here yet." I mutter, looking around. "Maybe he is running late." Amelia says, taking her seat opposite me.
"He is almost here." Dean says, gulping the drink.
I nod, settling down on the chair.
"Feeling better?" I ask, eyeing Dean, who stretches himself.
"Ugh, no shit." He grumbles. "Why can't there be drinks that make no hangover?" He complains, Amy shakes her head, "There sure is."
Dean gasps, "There is?!"
"Of course, water." She comments, laughing.
I chuckle, "Also, soda…juice!" I add up, Dean grumbles, rolling his eyes.
"Even tea, coffee!" Amelia adds, Dean groans, rolling his eyes, "Come on, now. Stop teasing me." We all laugh as he looks away, standing up.
"Oh, where are you going?" I ask.
"We were just teasing you." Amy adds, frowning.
Amelia nods, "To the washroom." He laughs, shaking his head, "I don't easily get offended. But should have seen your faces." He says, laughing at us as he walks away. I chuckle, but they roll their eyes.
As Dean disappears, Amy huffs. "He is such an ass, right?"
"But you like it." Amelia comments, she gasps, shaking her head as she makes a disgusted face, looking away, awkward. "No shit. That's ew!" She grumbles, looking ahead, opening her screen.
I giggle, looking at them. Amelia shrugs, "If you say so."
"What about you?" I ask Amelia, opening my screen in between, I face her. "What about me?" She asks.
"Don't you have a partner?" I ask, smiling. She chuckles, "Oh, Sierra doesn't know, right?" Amy speaks, chuckling.
Amelia raises her hand, showing me her ring, "I am married." She announces and I gasp out loud, "Oh my! Really?" I blink my eyes. "How old are you?" I inquire, intrigued yet startled by this sudden news.
"Hmm, twenty-nine?" She mumbles, and I chuckle.
"She has been married for a year now." Amy says.
Amelia nods, "Wah… congratulations, though it's late." I giggle, she chuckles, shaking her head. "So, our pretty friend is taken, huh?" I mumble, pouting while Amelia gasps, looking at me with a weird smile, "Shut up."
I smile, raising my hand, gesturing that my lips are zipped. She smiles, and I look ahead, getting started with my work.
This is fun, working with co-workers who are literally a definition of good friends.
