The moment I drop off the car, I rush towards the apartment.
I didn't realize I was so late, an hour until it's office time, fuck my life.
Ugh.
I rush to the stairs, making my way up.
I swear I will never drink again.
"Oh, Sierra?" I hear my name, I flinch, looking behind, and I see a woman, tilting her head as she eyes me. "Yeah."
"What are you looking so shocked for?" The woman chuckles, shaking her head as she approaches me. I blink my eyes, "Uh?"
"It's me, Aunt Michelle. Amana's aunt?" She says, I widen my eyes and gasp. Oh my god, it's her? I completely forgot how she looked. I know her. Duh.
Idiot me.
"Oh my, Aunt Mich!" I say, rushing to hug her. "What are you doing here?" I look at her, confused.
She flicks my forehead, "Idiot. This is the apartment I own, I was out of town, soI couldn't meet you face to face." She chuckles, shaking her head. I gulped, pressing my lip, "I thought you did recognize me from my voice from the time we talked over call."
"Oh." I mumble, embarrassed. "I didn't think much… Aunt Mich." I say, pouting, "It's Amana's fault! She said you are a distant aunt, and I didn't know you were distant!" I say, whining. She laughs, shaking her head.
"I am distant in the relationship, but close since I was close to her parents." She says, grinning, she looks around, then at me, "Are you just returning?"
I nod. "Um, I slept over with a friend." I say, embarrassed.
"I went to see you, but Alex said you were asleep." She shakes her head, and I gasp. He said that? Covered up for me?
"Oh." I mumble, "I didn't tell him…my colleagues threw me a welcome party and I got drunk." I say, embarrassed, "She didn't know my address, so she took me with her." I say, scratching my forehead, lying is terrible but fuck.
I can't tell her I slept over at my boss's house. Can I?
No fucking way, she will judge me.
Clearing my throat, "He is a good friend." I add.
"I came by to see you, I will be returning to the city since my son is having exams. I have to stay a while longer." She says, I nod my head, "Oh, yeah. You should, I will miss you." I say, smiling.
"Take care, okay?" She says, I nod.
"You too." I mumble, waving her bye. As she disappears down the stairs, I stand smiling, but suddenly it hits me why I was rushing before.
"Fuck!" I snap, running upstairs. I reach my room, opening the door, and I rush to my room.
"Sierra? Is that you?" I hear him, but I have no time.
"Alex, I am going to shower. I am getting late." I rushed inside my room, rushing straight to the washroom. I didn't hear a word, hoping he did hear me. I rush, brushing and cleaning up before I strip, showering.
Once done, I walked out. I had no time to apply lotion. I dry up and put on my dress.
Looking at myself in the mirror, I sigh. Such a mess, look at the dark circles, I am seriously not drinking again.
I hear a knock, "Yes?"
"Come on, I made breakfast." I hear him.
I walk out, grabbing my bag, drying my hair, "I am so late, Alex." I say, sitting at the table, looking at the plate with bacon and scrambled eggs. "Oh, wah." I grin, putting the dryer away as I start eating.
I hear him chuckle, "I will drop you off."
I look at him with my mouth full, "Okay~"
He chuckles, sitting beside me, watching me. "Seriously, I have been here for days, and this is the second time we are meeting." I chew silently and then look away, awkwardly. "Haha. I know, right?"
He shakes his head, chuckling.
"Aren't you going to eat?" I ask, and he shakes his head no. "I was hungry, I ate before you." I smile, nodding my head. "Thanks." I mutter, continuing to eat.
"Your work is that hectic, huh?" Alex asks, and I look at him and shrug.
I mean, half the time I am out of work but still stressed.
Doesn't matter.
"We are working on a new project, so it's kinda hectic." I say, chewing.
He nods.
"But what do you do, Alex?" I ask.
"Me?" He mumbles, shrugging. "I don't know… I used to do modelling, but now I am preparing to help my family in the business." He says, looking at me. My eyes widened. "You did what?"
He frowns, "Uh…I was once a model. It's been two years since I dropped it. I joined the business major and recently graduated." He says, chuckling, amused by my reaction. But all I could hear was him saying he had been a model.
"Alex, do you still like modelling?" I mumble, growing more serious and excited.
I watch him frown, leaning forward. "Uh, I am looking for a job, if it helps me go by for a while, I might?" He starts, "Why?"
I grin, "We are currently hiring, you should try." I say, all excited. I push the plate aside, feeling full, as my focus remains on him.
"Uh, I am not sure. I mean…it's been two years since I dropped it. I might not have it in me." He says, chuckling as he scratches his neck, "Oh, come on! Just try, it might be a good opportunity." I say enthusiastically.
"But, I left that path." He says, and I blink my eyes.
Right… he did say that.
I chuckle awkwardly. "Right, stupid me. I just got excited." I say sheepishly.
He smiles at me.
"Maybe, I can try." He mumbles, shrugging.
I smile, "Only if you want to… I just got too into my head to realize."
He nods, "I sure will think about it. When does the submission end?" He inquires, "Hmm, in two days, take your time." I say, encouraging him.
"Oh my, I keep forgetting that I am getting late." I jolt up, grabbing my bag.
"I will make sure you reach there in time." Alex says, chuckling as he follows after me, I lock the door, and he walks to the parking lot.
