Chapter 27 - Should I tell him that I lied?

I stirr, hearing a strangled cry of pain, I blink my eyes open and find her face contorted in pain, wide eyes. I jolted up, rushing to the bedside.

"Sierra." I call out, slowly holding her.

The frown slowly eases up, her breathing shallow and shaky. I take the cover off and walk to the wardrobe, pulling out a thin cover. With a towel in hand, I walk back to the bed beside her.

Poor girl, I wonder what she is running from in her nightmares.

I slowly wiped the sweat off her face, adjusting her properly on the bed. Once done, I cover her with the thinner one as I put the towel in the bucket, I turn the air conditioner on, enough to not make her sweat again, and walk back to the couch.

I groaned; my neck was aching.

The couch, ugh.

But the moment I lie down again, she starts whimpering.

I sit up, frowning.

I walk to the bed, lying beside her as I slowly pat her arm, hoping my warmth reaches her. "It's okay, Sierra." I say, voice low and soft, I smile, watching her breathing even out.

And I promised myself to keep a watch on her, keep patting her so she sleeps in comfort.

But I didn't realize when I fell asleep beside her on the bed.

End of Luthien's Pov

The next morning, I had a headache even before I opened my eyes, ugh.

Fuck, where in the world am I?

Blinking my eyes, I sit up. My hands hang heavy over my head as I try and massage my throbbing head. "Ugh, fucking hell…" I groan, leaning back against the bed, trying to steady my pulse that's been racing wild since the moment I opened my eyes.

I look around, realizing the familiar room.

His room, did he bring me here? I frown.

A blush almost crept into my face, but then I remembered how he treats me!

Huh.

I stretch my hands, yawning as I sit up.

The head can fuck itself, I need to return back. I look around, my bag lying on the headboard, I grab it, searching for my phone.

"Fuck" Another curse escapes my lip as a shrilling throb hits me, I drop back on bed, I hear footsteps approaching but I was too occupied with my head aching to focus on the approaching individual.

"Here, lemon water." I hear a voice say.

Too caught up in the pain, I disregard the person as I grab the glass, gulping down the water.

Please, God, let this work. I want no headaches.

Finishing up the glass, I hand it back, finally raising my head to see him. I blink my eyes, startled, and I look away.

"Are you feeling good?" He asks, I nod, and look for my phone.

I could feel his eyes on me as he stood still by my side. "And… did you sleep well?" He adds, I nod as I pull my phone out.

I gasp.

"Fuck." I mutter, under my breath.

"What's wrong?" He asks, but too caught up in the thought, I dial the number instead of answering him.

I wait for the line to connect, "Hello? Sie?" I hear.

I chuckle, embarrassed, "Alex." I mutter.

"Girl, you haven't been returning back. You, what are you doing? Where are you? And-"

"Okay, stop." I say, winching a little knowing I must have worried him, the tone seemed well too-ahem. "Actually, my colleagues gave me a welcome party yesterday."

"Doesn't explain why you aren't home." I hear him huff. "Where are you right now?" He asks.

I gulp, he is being too strict for someone who just recently knows me. Clearing my throat, "Um, I will be home now. I slept over my friends'." I say, slowly getting off the bed, and it was then I noticed him standing just right there.

The way he did before, my eyes trail up from his torso to his face, and I gulp.

Shit.

What's with that look?

"Do I need to come pick you up?" I hear Alex ask, "Uh, no. It's fine… I will take a cab home." I say, grabbing my bag as I stand, eyes on him.

"Okay, I will wait for breakfast." I hear him mumble with a soft chuckle. "Okay. See you." I say, nodding my head despite him being able to see me. I end the call, biting my lower lip, and I look at him.

Um, sorry for the trouble…" I bow my head low, standing straight.

I look at him, but he just looks away.

"If you want, I can drop you off." He says, I blink my eyes, "Huh?"

Luthien looks back at me, "I mean… next time I can drop you back." He starts, pushing his hair back, "To your boyfriend." He adds, I look away.

Fuck, should I tell him that I lied?

No. No, Sie…

You heard him, I am just another woman, he thinks that I hit everyone.

It's better if you don't waste your time with him; keep your distance.

"No, it's okay." I mumble, "I don't want to trouble you, boss." I say, rushing out.

I hear him running after me, "Sie-"

"Oh, Sierra! You up?" I flinch as Chris calls out loud, walking to me, frowning as he looks between us, "All good?"

I blink my eyes, "Yeah?"

Chris chuckles, then eyes Luthien. I clear my throat, "Um, I've got to go now." I say, bowing my head down to them both as I walk to the door, putting my shoes on.

"Wait, Sierra." I hear Luthien call out, I continue putting my shoe on.

"Let me drop you, Sie?" Chris asks, noticing the atmosphere between us while I look up, "I don't want to trouble you. Also, I can manage." I say, smiling softly.

Luthien sighs, pushing his hair back, "Whatever." He mutters, walking away, annoyed, while I look away, then at Chris. "Thanks for the offer." I say, smiling.

Chris shakes his head no, "Then, see you later in the office." He says, waving his hand while I nod. "Sure."

I walk out, looking around as I take in the beautiful scenery, heading out.

Just then, a car drives up to me from the porch, and I gasp. The windshield rolls down as a man looks out, "Miss, get inside. Sir, asked me to drop you off."

I widened my eyes, did he?

I thought he was mad, the way he left with that annoyed scowl.

"You mean Chris?" I asked the driver, wondering if Chris had asked him for this, but my eyes bulged bigger when the man shook his head no, smiling, "No, Sir Luthien did." He chuckles, noticing my disbelief.

Embarrassed, I settle in, buckling up.

"You can call me Vis. I am his driver." He speaks, I look at him and nod, "Sierra. Nice to meet you, Vis." I smile sweetly, and he smiles back. He focuses on driving as he drives me out of the penthouse and down the highway.

He is really confusing, ugh!

Even worse than the movies with open endings that give no head or tail.

Seriously...

Fuck my peace.
