Chapter 87 - Chapter-81. Protection period ends. Events

Morning — Starblade Territory

Golden rays of dawn spilled through the tall windows of the lord's residence, casting soft light across the stone walls and polished floors. In the heart of the estate, within a spacious chamber lined with modest decor and military maps, Arthur stirred from slumber.

His crimson eyes blinked open, calm and focused even upon waking. Rising from his bed with quiet precision, he stretched briefly before moving toward the basin. The cool water splashed against his face, chasing away the last remnants of sleep.

Arthur stared at his reflection for a moment—black hair slightly tousled, expression steady as always. He dried his face, straightened his simple but well-kept clothing, and stepped into the growing light of a new day.

Arthur stepped out of his room and made his way through the quiet halls of the lord's estate. The faint scent of baked bread and simmering broth wafted through the air as the morning staff prepared breakfast.

He passed by a few patrolling guards who gave crisp nods of respect. Outside, the training grounds were already stirring to life. Steel clashed faintly in the distance, and the rhythmic thuds of disciplined drills echoed from the courtyard.

As he approached the dining hall, the murmurs of conversation reached his ears.

Inside, several of his Gold-ranked heroes were already gathered around the long oak table.

George, his warrior hero, was halfway through sharpening his greatsword near the table. He looked up as Arthur entered and stood momentarily.

"Good morning, Lord Arthur," George said with a respectful nod. "Hope you slept well. The weather's good for training today."

Lily, seated beside a tray of fruit and hot tea, gave him a soft smile. Her long silver hair was tied neatly behind her, and a flicker of mana shimmered at her fingertips—residual from early-morning spellwork.

"Morning, lord Arthur," she said gently. "we have already healed all the troops. Their morale are high."

Voloric, leaning back with a bowl of porridge in one hand, gave a short laugh.

"Lord's finally awake," he teased lightly.

Arthur gave a calm smile and took his seat at the head of the table. "I figured I'd let my heroes enjoy some peace before the chaos starts."

Isabella, the serene healer, handed him a cup of warm herbal tea. "We appreciate it. But your presence always steadies the room, my Lord."

Across from her, Alisha cleaned her bow with practiced ease, eyes flicking up.

"My lord, Target practice begins after breakfast," she said. "Join us if you're free. The archers always like seeing you around."

Ronan, ever composed in his polished cavalry gear, gave a firm nod. "My knights are preparing for mobility drills. I'll report on their formation readiness by noon."

Arthur accepted the meal set before him—bread, eggs, dried meat, and a small bowl of soup. He took a bite, listening as light conversation and strategic chatter flowed around the table. Each of them was already thinking about the day ahead, battles to come, soldiers to train.

But for now, in this brief moment of quiet, they ate together—not just as subordinates and commander, but as comrades bound by fire, steel, and a shared purpose.

The atmosphere was light but disciplined—each hero fully aware of their duties yet enjoying this brief moment of peace.

Then, just as he reached for his cup of tea, a soft but distinct chime echoed in Arthur's mind. It wasn't heard by anyone else, and yet it was as clear as if whispered directly into his ear. His hand froze mid-air as the familiar, emotionless voice of the system rang out in his consciousness.

He glanced up at his heroes, who remained unaware, still immersed in conversation and breakfast.

The peaceful morning had just ended.

It was time to prepare.
