Chapter 30 - CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE

Tashia went straight to the hospital after her class. Ashley was placed in a private room at that time, and they found out during the assessment that her medication was responding and another medication was helping to dissolve the blood clot in her brain.

But, alongside that positive news, there is something they need to do; they will help Sharlene with what she will do, her sister still ignores her husband, and Sharlene's friend Sheila.

Because they knew her sister was involved back then. Because her thoughts were racing, she didn't think that she had already reached it, and Tashia quickly entered.

Sharlene was there, stroking the forehead of her child, who she knew missed Ashley's hugs and affection; Ashley still hadn't removed the oxygen to help her continue breathing.

Tashia looked at her niece, who was soundly asleep. She noticed that the wounds on its body were slowly healing, and the bruises it had received were gradually disappearing.

Tashia is thankful for the progress, praying Ashley's life is no longer at risk, and hoping the clot is gone when the child wakes.

"Are you done eating, Tash?" was the only question Sharlene asked her.

She only nodded; her sister Vivianne is still working.

"Sis, our semestral break is coming up soon; maybe I can help you." That's all Tashia suggested to Sharlene.

Sharlene just stared at her and gave her a faint smile. "Thank you, Tashia."

"My head advised me to take leave." That's all she heard from her sister Sharlene.

"Is that paid, sis? Is your salary still continuous?" Tashia asked her.

She weakly nodded to her as a response to her question.

"Perhaps the owner and other school leaders decided to take leave so I could focus on Ashley." Sharlene eventually mentioned this to Tashia.

"What is your decision?" Tashia asked, listening to what Sharlene was saying.

"Well, if that's what they want, I'll accept it. I'm just organizing my paperwork to make it easier to approve my leave."

"That's great, sister, and it allows you to rest as well." Tashia said.

"Tashia, I can't rest; I need to find out the truth first and why this anger is so intense in the first place." Sharlene only shook her head.

"Okay, if that's your decision, we're just here." She could only say,.

"Is there a discount for your help?" Sharlene jokingly asked her.

Tashia's eyebrows just met. She just shook her head.

"What matters to me is that my niece stays safe." She only sighed.

"Thank you for treating my child, Tashia, as your real niece. We are not blood relatives, yet you treat her like family." Sharlene smiled at her.

She didn't reply anymore. Even though Tashia and Sharlene are not blood relatives, she considers her a true sister. She accepted Sharlene despite not fully understanding who she is. Her sister Sharlene has enrolled Tashia in a reputable school.

"Do you need me to buy something, sis?" She simply asked.

"Ah, yes." Sharlene said this after giving it some thought. "I forgot to buy something to drink." She even took the wallet.

"Is it just water you want me to buy?" Tashia simply asked.

"Buy something for us to eat tomorrow too, thank you. Tash." Sharlene provided her with money to cover their expenses.

Tashia just nodded; her school things were just there; she didn't change clothes anymore because she would change later after buying what Sharlene asked her to get.

The hospital is just near the convenience stores; they can also buy medicine here, as there are many pharmacies on standby.

She walked into the convenience store, realizing it was still early due to her class ending early today.

Tashia promptly purchased everything Sharlene had mentioned, including their food for tomorrow. After she bought the things, she immediately returned to the private room where Ashley was. Tashia was thankful that they were no longer in the I.C.U. because she was worried about the child's condition.

She was about to call Sharlene when she noticed she was sound asleep, holding the child's hand.

Tashia just put down the groceries, sat down, and watched the mother and daughter.

It also needs to rest. Tashia could only say it in her mind.

Tashia is just reading her notes, and she also needs to study; she needs to multitask.

The door opened, and she thought his sister Vivianne had arrived. Tashia looked up and saw Sheila watching, accompanied by a man she didn't know, and it wasn't Martin.

Tashia just raised an eyebrow and put down what she was reading.

"What are you doing here?" Tashia asked the woman directly.

Sheila looked at her and let out a sigh. "That woman hasn't responded to my lawyer's letters; I'll have Sharlene arrested." Sheila said bravely.

"If you're going to have her arrested, you should have brought a police officer with you, right?" She shrugged it off and sighed.

Tashia stood up; she didn't mean to disturb the sleeping Sharlene.

"Can you please not cause a scene here?" She shooed Sheila.

Tashia suddenly pulled Sheila outside; Sheila was surprised by her action.

"Leave now," she ordered Sheila.

"Well, Tashia, your sister is the one at fault with me; have you forgotten that?" She asked sharply.

Tashia was about to answer.

"What if I imprison you instead?" Vivianne interjected in their conversation back then.

"Am I the one you're going to imprison?" Sheila even laughed.

Vivianne could only smile at the sight of the man.

"Did you get tired of Martin?" Vivianne said mockingly to Sheila.

It didn't respond immediately, but Sheila gave Vivianne a meaningful look.

"I don't care about the two of you; I brought my lawyer to make sure that woman gives it!" Sheila said while tossing an envelope.

She immediately took it, raising her eyebrow again.

"Let's go, Ma'am." The man said politely to Sheila.

Vivianne let out a soft laugh, which surprised her.

Her sister could only shake her head.

"I'm sorry, but I'm here now, and I will make sure to give it to Sharlene."

"But —"

"Let's go." It was just the man who said, Accompanying Sheila, and he shot them a dirty look.

The man also walked away.

Tashia could only watch the two of them, sigh, and stare at Vivianne.

Vivianne was silent and walked away as if nothing had happened; Tashia just followed and sighed at the brief exchange that had occurred earlier.

Really a witch. Tashia muttered to herself and just shook her head.

They have returned to the private room. Sharlene continues to sleep deeply today, and Tashia sincerely hopes that her past is not causing her any distress.

"Will you give that to me?" Vivianne asked her and snatched the one that she was holding.

"We need to give it." That's all, Vivianne answered Tashia.

Tashia sat down and silently watched Sharlene, who was sleeping soundly at that time.
