Elena swallowed hard. She looked around, hoping to catch a glimpse of her husband but was disappointed when she didn't see him. Was it going to be like this from now on? Him ignoring her even as he knew Xavier being around was bad news?
Elena took in a deep breath again as she looked down at her food…No, it wasn't food, it was poison. How can she have leaves for breakfast when she wasn't a goat?
"Go on Elena. The clock is ticking." Came Xavier's sudden taunting whisper that made Elena flinch a little.
Again, Elena swallowed hard. Being so close to Xavier made her nervous and scared. The man was unpredictable, so everyone in their right mind should probably be scared of him. Under the table, she held the knife tight, ready to strike if need be.

Was she really going to eat raw leaves because he ordered her to? What would she have for lunch? Sand?
