Elena's eyelids fluttered open. The room was silent, lit only by the soft glow of moonlight through the curtains. She let out a quiet groan and slowly pushed herself up. "Did I really faint?" she murmured, rubbing her forehead.
"Yes, Elena. You fainted."
Elena's head immediately snapped to the side to find Xavier staring at her, sitting on a couch. Would he be doing this from now on? Coming into her room uninvited?
"Why are you here?" She asked, but she didn't get a reply. Instead, he just stared at her with a look that could kill. A sharp, piercing gaze, as if he had suddenly realized she was his sworn enemy.
Elena almost scoffed, scolding herself inwardly for imagining that the man showed care earlier. He had said he didn't hate her, but the look in his eyes at the moment screamed hate. She couldn't help but wonder what happened.
