Fuka just gave one lonely sigh as she flicked her tail in Tris's face, clearly annoyed. – Nora kept laughing lightly, a hand set on her own chest. She took a deep breath, attempting to calm herself down.
Just as Nora was about to say something. Tris's phone began ringing, slowly getting louder. – He reached into his pocket and took it out. He gave a small sigh as he looked at the screen. 'Fen'
Nora went silent, having the manners to let him take the call in silence. Tris got up, taking a small step to the side as he clicked the answer button, moving the phone up to his ear.
"Yes, Fen?"
He spoke, giving a small yawn. In the end, it was still quite early... For the average person, that is. – Tris's foot lightly tapped the ground as he awaited an answer from the other line, not even giving a hello. Grinning widely. Rudeness was funny.
"Oi, Morning Foxy. – The others are getting up for training. And Mina is angry that I did not call you. You're in?"
Fen was rather straightforward, not minding a denial in the end. So there was no point in trying to place honey around his words. – Plus, taking the fact that Tris would smell it from miles away.
"Fine, I'm in, coming to pick me up? Orr?"
Tris was careful with his words, in the end. No one could hear Fen in this room. But Nora could hear his words. So he could not speak too much about his business. Nor about fighting people.
"No, take the rooftops and go east. There's a confirmed shadow that attacked a random man on the road. Fled upwards before the others could get it. They aren't as agile as you with your tail. Deal with it, then come over. Grab your hood."
Fen was blunt, speaking out about the job in detail and giving him the required information rather instantly. Already used to what questions Tris has and what details he wants. In the end, it was quite true, the other could not climb that with the ease Tris could.
"Alright, alright, how did it do it? And which, we both know, there are multiple."
Tris spoke, but it wasn't what he actually meant. Hoping Fen would catch on to his words. He looked over to Nora, giving a flicker of his ears with a nod. Mostly his way of saying hello or goodbye! As he just walked off to his room.
"Should be a middle-low type. The one that almost killed you in the realm that one time. This one is mutated, with claws and an agile body, which could move it to be on par with a high-low type. – Risky in the end. So if anything, I'm taking you since you can heal and flee. The others would be at a way bigger disadvantage. Even if their more skilled and could take you in a one-on-one duel."
Fen caught on to the words, explaining the type and its looks as Tris listened. – He was changing his clothes quite fast, getting into a plain white shirt and some black pants. Not like they would be seen either.
"Ah- Alright, yeah... The others couldn't handle such on a roof, You think I'm agile enough to outspeed it?"
Tris spoke, finishing to get his clothes on, he could speak more freely in his room in the end. While he was weaker compared to even Mina, he did have Runic to back him, and his agility. Together with his body he still was a bigger threat to a shadow in a duel compared to just one of the warriors.
"You are, I'm sure of it. Abuse that to the best of your ability. They will try to kill you to the best of their ability as well. After all, they are crazed if in line of sight with you compared to the humans. It will think less, be weaker in planning, but have more force. So be careful, avoid any attack."
Fen spoke, lining them down for Tris to grab. After all, information was power. – Tris grabbed his book from his bed, placing it at his waist as he walked out, right towards the door and slipping his shoes on.
"Noted, I'll deal with it."
Tris added bluntly, he was confident enough with himself as he opened the door. – Fuka finally decided to move, going towards the door and sliding out of it with Him. They were no longer seen by anyone, so she turned herself into some strings of light and hid herself on his body.
"Alright, call me after you are done and head directly here."
Fen spoke, and in a few seconds, to make sure Tris got his words. He closed the call. While Tris just shoved the phone into his pocket, making sure he zipped it, after all that was his biggest issue.
Tris gave a small sigh, taking a deep breath as he slid down the stairs with some swift movements. He had work to do In the end. He didn't have much time to refill his runic papers. So he would have to rely himself on air-written runes.
His book did not hold much. Merely just two normal 'Typhoon' runes, three 'Typhoon, Implosion' runes, two 'Cinder, Implosion' and his little 'Kaboom The First'... – Which he probably never will use.
Air-written runes would not be able to do much... At most, he could make a small ball of fire with Cinder or set a weapon on fire. Shoot himself up and down or ease his fall with Typhoon. Perhaps the new runes he learnt yesterday could be of use. A high-pressure water blast could be possible with Tide. And to freeze his enemy's feet, he had everfrost. . . If he could only have written things previously, some water dagger projectiles would've been useful.
At this point, he had already left the inside of the dorm, starting to walk east quite swiftly. He needed to find a good spot before starting to get up onto the roofs of the blocks. After all, he couldn't risk being seen this early.
Fen said it was agile, his mind was already running around a good strategy. – A bow would be less effective against an agile shadow. A dagger would be too short. If it is agile, he wants his glaive, so even if it slides away, he can at least harm it with the edge, cut it at least. Weaken it with time.
While fire wouldn't do quite a lot of damage to a shadow, it was resistant to normal weapons. He could still use his weapon to set it on fire. Its wounds would never close that way, at least not fast enough. – Normally, such wouldn't be possible; it would set the fire off itself. But this one would hopefully be mad enough to let itself be harmed attempting to kill him.
They would do anything in their power to kill him; that was the point. The less they thought, the weaker they actually were. Yet shadows never realised that. – In his mind, he had already put pieces together: A black, inky shadow with monstrous werewolf-like claws. Its legs are twisted to enhance speed and climbing.
He has met such before, but it wasn't of such a high rank; it was at the bottom, barely slipping by without getting killed by even warriors with barely any training. Its mutations weren't quite right as well, mostly done wrong and made it weaker in some aspects.
Tris was not counting on this one to have such weaknesses, but with a good enough image, he could tell what points were weak. But he won't be exactly accurate until he sees it. Which he hopefully will.
His eyes moved around as he walked into an alley in between the blocks, taking a deep breath as the white strings appeared once more. – He needed to be silent, sneaky, and he needed to do the first attack. So they did not glow, they hid their light and power as his tail returned along with his ears.
This time, his hands changed themselves as well, nails growing sharper and more claw-like. Our little were-fox was really going to kill this one. At least that's what he thought. – Moving his palm within the air, he grasped at it, the string forming a cloak with a hood, white as ivory.
Moving it, he covered himself with it, tail moving around his waist as a belt. He pulled the hood to cover his face. Now seemingly just a knight in a white hood, some could compare him to the cultists in the movies with black cloaks and hoods. Yet his motivations were way, way different.
In some swift steps, he stomped onto the ground, jumping on the wall, as his claws sank themselves into it, allowing him to climb with ease. Step by step, pierce by pierce. He climbed up onto the roof, his posture slightly bent over to hide himself from those on the ground.
And suddenly, he took a deep breath, proceeding to dash forward with his whole body at full speed. – He needed to cover as much ground as possible. Shadows in the time of day were probably staring up at the sun. But in a spot hidden from other people, possibly the middle of a roof, slunked over to not be seen.
Minutes after minutes passed by, and he was not getting tired of searching. Hunts were more entertaining than his average hobbies. – And as such, not giving up has its benefits. His eyes fell over into the distance. Right in between the buildings. – And there it was.
