Vesper had just gotten down from his bed when he turned and saw Marcus standing inside his room, looking at him with a strange gaze.
"Boy, you should learn to rest. If you continue to tap into your weapon intent, you will end up harming yourself, especially now that you have no mana pathway." Marcus said, sounding a little concerned.
"Your Majesty," Vesper said as he nodded.
"Relax now boy, I would not feel happy if a genius like yourself died from stubbornness." Marcus turned and vanished from his room.
Vesper let out a sigh.
'That was careless, I could have exposed a secret just now' Vesper said to himself as he stared at the halberd in his hands. He could feel a strong connection with it now, and he was sure that he would be able to find it anywhere in the world. Even summon it to where he was if he was disarmed.
It was late afternoon and Vesper decided to visit the market in the capital. Walking outside the castle, he met Catherine, who was wearing a black dress.
"Where are you headed?" She asked.
"To the capital, I wish to go to the market and get a few things. I have earned a lot of gold from my last battle, so I felt like spending a bit." Vesper said casually.
"Alright then, let me accompany you, I hope you would not be discomforted by my presence." She said.
"I wouldn't be princess, I would even love company now, especially the company of a beautiful princess such as yourself." Vesper said, with a soft smile adorning his face.
Catherine was enamoured by his smile and let out a soft chuckle, "I didn't know you had a way with words also, you seem to have changed from your passive and elusive nature. Especially after the previous battle."
"What can I say, Princess? I figured if I am going to enjoy my second chance at life, I should live fully, at least that is what my mother would want." Vesper said as he looked up in the sky, remembering his mother from his previous life.
Catherine, on the other hand, thought of Queen Amara, a woman so kind and loving, yet so fierce and strong.
"Hmm, I am sure she would want that." She said subconsciously, to which Vesper nodded his head.
Both of them walked out of the castle and into the capital city. A woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, stared at the two of them before she turned at a young woman dressed in a black combat suit standing by her, "Make sure to keep an eye on her, Lisa, and study that boy to see if he has any intentions towards my daughter." She said.
"Yes, your majesty." Lisa said as she bowed and vanished.
The woman was the second Queen, mother of Catherine, Jonathan and Sophie. Queen Chloe Ashborn, an ice magic user and the famous Ice enchantress.
Chloe looked at Vesper and Catherine walking outside the Palace while talking freely, then she shook her head and walked to another room where she unsheathed the sword in her hand and started moving in graceful and slow steps.
Vesper and Catherine went to the capital city market and saw multiple stalls. Vesper just wanted to get a few parchments to inscribe runes and a space artefact for himself, so he did not have to carry his halberd everywhere, and he could use it as a means of masking his element for the time being.
They got into a stall and Vesper saw a man with a round belly sitting behind the counter. As soon as the man saw their dresses, his eyes shone with greedy light, and he walked towards them smiling.
"Greeting milord and milady, how may I be of help to you." He said.
"I want to get a few dozen parchments and an enchanted scriber." Vesper said as he looked at the man.
"Congratulations milord, you have come to the right place", he went to a shelf and took down a bunch of parchment and opened the shelf, bringing different colours of enchanted scribes. Inwardly, the man was grinning as he thought he was going to make a killing out of this sale.
"I want 50 parchments and an enchanted scriber."
The shop owner nodded as he placed them in front of Vesper
Vesper looked at them and appraised them, then he said to the man, "How much for these?"
"Not much milord, just a hundred and ten gold pieces." The man said, with a smile.
Vesper scoffed and turned to walk away from the stall. His actions took Catherine by surprise and left the shop owner completely shocked.
Catherine hurriedly joined him. As they were about leaving the stall, the shop owner's voice echoed loudly, "I will give you for sixty gold pieces, milord."
Then Vesper turned, looked at him and said, "Ten gold pieces."
"Forty gold pieces" the shop owner replied.
"Fifteen gold pieces." Vesper said.
"Thirty gold pieces." The shop owner replied.
"Twenty-five gold pieces." Vesper said.
"Deal, please select a scriber while I arrange your items' milord." The shop owner had a pained expression, who would've thought that the man before him had an idea of the market price.
He thought that he would make a killing from this sale when he saw the quality of the silk their robes were made of.
Vesper picked a black scriber that had the symbol of a crescent moon on it and then paid the shop owner.
"Do you have any type of space artefact?" Vesper asked.
"Milord space artefacts are not exactly rare but not common either." the shop owner replied.
"I do have a few. Come and take a look, milord." The man said as he led them to another room, were there were more items. On a display table Vesper saw a few bracelets and rings arranged separately.
As they were looking, Vesper did not see anyone up to his standard because the artefacts had at most five cubic meters of space in them.
"Are these all of you have?" Vesper asked.
"Yes, milord." The man said.
Vesper turned and threw a pouch at the man, and he walked out of the room.
"Deliver those items to the Imperial Palace under the name of Vesper, that is for your trouble." Vesper said as he and Catherine walked out of the stall.
The shop owner was stunned when he heard the imperial palace and was even more stunned when he heard his name. Vesper, as in THE VESPER, the soldier prince!
He then looked at the pouch in his hands and counted it. The gold in it totalled up to one hundred and twenty gold.
The man screamed in joy as he hurriedly took a storage ring and placed all the items inside and prepared to deliver the goods to the imperial palace.
Vesper and Catherine were walking in the market when Catherine offered to take him to a reliable shop where he could buy a good storage ring.
Catherine led Vesper to a tall building and walked in. When the man at the counter saw her, he hurriedly left the counter and signalled his employees to handle the customers while he personally attended to Catherine.
"Your highness, it is a pleasure you have remembered my humble business place once again." The man said.
"Sir Gideon, it is nice meeting you, I brought an important guest to you today. I hope this will count when I am making a purchase later on." Catherine said with a mischievous smile.
Vesper, on the other hand, was stunned at her antics. He could not relate the Catherine in his memories and this Catherine together.
"Forgive me, milord, may I ask who you are?" Gideon said with a smile.
"You can call me Vesper, Sir Gideon, I am looking for a good space artefact." Vesper said.
Gideon looked at Vesper in shock and then turned to Catherine. He was about to speak when a young man walked towards them and greeted Catherine.
"Greetings, Princess Catherine, it seems today is a fortunate day for me to meet you here." The man said.
