Jeremiah's Hospital, Earth 2025
"Jeremiah!" A younger girl with dark brown, but light, skin runs into the room and jumps into Jeremiah's arms. "You're awake." She begins crying tears of joy from her dark brown eyes, due to seeing her older brother finally wake from his coma.
"Good to see you too, Maki." He pats the young woman's head in order to comfort her. "If you're here does that mean our brother is on the way?"
She nods her head slightly while still holding onto him tightly. "Yeah. He's currently on his way over here from work right now." She says through her sniffles. "He called me right after he got the call that you were awake, and I came over as soon as possible."
"That's good to hear that you've missed me so much. You've changed your hair." He begins rubbing her hair that used to but is now longer and is in a more natural style.
"I changed it about three months ago. I decided it was time for a new change." Maki looks up at Jeremiah with tears staining her face. "I've had so many things I've wanted to say while you were asleep. You've also missed some of my birthdays you asshole." She begins lightly hitting his chest.
"Wow, where did the almost innocent little girl go that didn't swear! Let's see you were about fourteen seven years ago so you should be twenty-one now. I guess I do owe a few birthdays, but that also means we can legally go drinking together now." Jeremiah smiled with happiness.
"That's not possible, old man." Maki throws a jab at Jeremiah.
Jeremiah's smile crooks with the attack against his age. "I'll have you know that I am only twenty-six you little demon, but why can't we."
"Because the United States changed its drinking age to 22 for all states a few years back." A tall muscular man says as he walks into the hospital room with a blazer over his shoulder.
"Looking as dark as ever Arthur." Jeremiah looks at the dark skinned man with a toned body entering the room.
"And I can still beat your ass you little asshole.* Arthur stares at Jeremiah with a determined expression.
"That's twice I've been called an asshole." He mutters under his breath. "Of course you would beat up a poor defenseless patient to show your strength, you muscle head.* Jeremiah claps back at him.
"You make a good point. Alright, you win this time." Arthur walks over and joins in on the hug. "Life has been too colorless without your two cents butting in all the time."
"Ahmm. You two are squishing me." Maki calls out from in between the two giants.
"My bad Maki." Arthur proceeds to remove himself from the hug, and Maki finally gets to breathe again.
"So what did I miss since I've been out?" Jeremiah asks expectantly.
"You guys will have plenty of time to discuss all of that later. After you get discharged." Nurse Bella walks into the room with Jeremiah's discharge papers.
"It is quite surprising that a guy who has been in a coma for seven years can just get up and leave a few hours after, but I guess you are a rare case." She looks into Jeremiah's eyes and a very faint spark of black lightning that very few can see.
"I'm getting discharged already?" Jeremiah asks Bella with a puzzled look on his face. "I was expecting to be here for at least a few more days."
"Well circumstances change. For one, you are already in a better condition than most would expect, and two, the company that almost got you killed said you are taking too much money." Bella says with a laugh.
"Am I still able to sue them for what happened to me.?" He looks at Arthur for a satisfactory answer.
"It's already been settled while you were asleep. They agree to pay all your hospital fees and bills until you woke up, and a settlement of 500 million dollars!" Arthur states with a proud smile on his face.
Jeremiah looks at Arthur with his jaw on the floor before looking at Maki to confirm it. Maki nods her head yes in confirmation to Arthur's statement.
"I'll leave this here on the table for you. As soon as you are ready, sign the form and bring it to the front desk, then you are free to leave." Bella places the paper down on the desk and prepares to leave the room. "There is also a change of clothes for you in one of the cabinets." She walks out of the room disappearing into the hallway.
