Yula's POV
I was plotting something deadly in my mind. I wanted Nara to pay for all she is making me go through! What did I ever do to her? Was I her dearest Sungmin? Was I Jiah her rival? Why me? Or was I the heartless beast Guyong who took advantage of lesser wolves?
"Jiah, can you go to Guyong's territory and let him know that Nara is a betrayer of trust?" I said and paused, waiting to hear from her. I hope she is available to respond in the mind-link.
"Yula!" I heard her faint voice amidst cracking noise, like that of a poorly signalled radio.
"Yes, I can hear you!" I responded immediately. Nara soon hopped in unannounced. She lifted me with the iron chair that I was tied to.
"I will take you to Hayan right away, and you will force your way into her head right there. You do not have to worry about what she will do to me. She has no power over me!" Nara said, cutting me off completely.
"Jiah, save me. She wants to take me to Hayan. I have a record…" I said in the mind-link when Nara slapped me very hard on my face, leaving me gushing out blood from my mouth.
"Am I not talking to you! Or are you now deaf and dumb?" I couldn't continue with Jiah anymore in the mind-link. I had accepted my fate that I was going to die. The thought of this made me cry even harder.
"I have something more important to attend to. I will be back. Before I get back, make sure to look good because you cannot come along with me looking like a forbidden fruit!" she warned, slamming the door behind her.
"Are you still there?" I asked Jiah in the mind-link, but there was no response from her. My eyes became heavy with tears. I felt my body wearing thin. This is the time I need my friends the most, and none of them has got my back! Haven't I been a fool all along? I couldn't stop the rushing tears; they helped me feel better. As I accepted my fate, the death fate—the fate that says I would die in the hands of my enemy—I felt a small distraction in my head. It was Sungmin. I was so happy.
"Sungmin!" I called in a mind-link with him, and he responded immediately.
"Please get in touch with Jiah and tell her that I would be dropping my phone at Gross-way, the only path to Hayan's territory. Let her make sure the phone gets to Guyong and his pack members before we meet with Hayan. That is the only thing that can save me right now. Let her go and wait there. I can't say more. I am losing my strength."
"But I and Jiah are not in talking terms," Sungmin argued.
"Is that more important than my life right now, Sungmin?"
"Huhhh… hmm. But you don't get it."
"Please go!" I yelled, interrupting him. I did not know I still got some strength.
Sungmin's POV
"Hey!" I called over the phone when Jiah finally answered the phone after a missed call.
"I wasn't close to my phone," she responded after picking up the phone.
"Yula is in trouble, and you are doing nothing about it?" I started.
"You know I cannot do anything unplanned. Nara is a strong wolf, and I had something more important to do at that time," she said and paused. "When she got kidnapped!" she added.
"So, what's the plan?"
"The plan with you over there?"
"Forget about me. When I return, I will come and get you out of this mess. I will take you to a better place where we will have peace forever. No troubles, no pain, no tears!" I said, keeping my hope high. "We will be together forever. You do not seem to understand what that means for us huh? That would be a dream come true. You know that you are my mate! You are nothing but the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh!" I said, trying to keep our quarrels away so we can move on as mates.
"It's not time for all these. I cannot beg you to return even when you know that we cannot get back our guiding star without us coming together completely. Since this is so, I will revisit Hayan. There should be another way to appeal to the star without you guys, especially without you! You disgust me!" she said and ended the call on me. I went silent for a minute, rolling my phone gently in my palms, unaware of it. A lot ran through my mind. Then I swallowed heavily as I stood up, heading for the corner of the bed where I hid the diamond stone.
Nara's POV
"How long would it take you to be here?" I asked in a mind-link with my fellow wolf from Guyong's pack. He is a Beta in disguise, and Guyong isn't aware of this. He claims to be an Omega, but he isn't.
"Our master asked me to fan him while he made love to the wolf that he caged. You just have to wait until he is done. Then I can find a valid reason to leave the territory," he explained in the mind-link. My enthusiasm was blown away like smoke in the wind. "There's no time to beat around the bush," I told myself.
Kangdae's POV
Since Secretary Soyoung has been quiet ever since I asked her about her friend, I decided to get in touch with Guyong and sort things out with him. But how would I do it without getting cuts again? I feel like this is the only way to get back my son's trust. If I am able to get in touch with Guyong and save my son's friend, then he must do something for me in return. I picked up my phone and put a call through to Sungmin.
"Hello, son!" I said after he picked up the call. "I am about to go to Guyong, but if I do this for you, what do I get in return?"
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"If I do this for you, then you must return to manage the company. It is your right and your responsibility!" I said, and my son let out a hard breath. I knew he was tired of me bringing up the same topic all the time.
"Well, I will not waste your time, Dad. I accept!" he said calmly. I was so excited to hear that. He must have been considering returning to his seat at the company as the company's manager even before I talked about it.
I called the attention of one of the cooks.
"Please prepare my favorite. I will be leaving in the next 30 minutes."
"Alright, sir," she replied, bowing her head to show some respect before leaving.
Beta Jiwon's POV
When I finished fanning him, I dropped the small hand fan on a table inside the cell. This was when I had a clearer view of the cell and the other wolves that were imprisoned. The majority of them were from other packs, and yet none of these pack leaders got some guts to fight back. They all lived in fear. I also saw some wolves from our pack that have been caged in there for over 5 years. Guyong caged any wolf that betrayed or disobeyed him, especially when he didn't want to kill them. Perhaps because he feels they may still be useful later in the future.
"Hey, you! Come over here," Guyong ordered me. I started shaking in fear after confirming that he was the one calling me.
"Haa…" My lips trembled. "I am sorry, master! I didn't mean to…"
"Go to my wife. She needs you to assist the other Omegas in rebuilding the other cell," he said, relieving me of the tension that had consumed me. I gathered my composure and turned to leave when he called me back, recalling that I had been trying to say something earlier.
"Are you one of the traitors we have here?" he asked, staring into my eyes. I couldn't bear the sight of him.
"No, master. I can never. Rip my brains out if I ever betray your trust!" I assured him. Then I saw the expression change on his face as I strengthened my relationship with my master.
