Yula's POV
Jiah moved away to hug Yangmu. "Remember, I promise to always be there for you," she said as she patted his small skull. She turned to me. "Don't you have a little sympathy for a homeless boy? Is it because he is not a wolf? Y'all treat him like he's nothing, huh?" I tried to let her know that Yangmu is evil in a mind-link, but she warned me not to mind-link her.
"I don't think you know the harm that is coming your way because of this witch that you went to get from a strange land," I said.
"I expect us to put our heads together and know what to do about our guiding star and not kill ourselves because of an innocent child."
"You think I do not know why you came into our midst, huh! And you will never get what you want! Never!"
"Stop being dramatic, Yula. You are my best friend, and I expect you to understand me better than anyone else."
"Jiah, we need to talk pls," I said, dragging her out of the scene. "We all need to sit and discuss. There's a beast in our midst. We cannot connect with him to appeal to our guiding star, and besides, who do you think released those wolves?" I asked, but she did not respond.
Then she says she perceives the presence of another wolf. The wolf burst out from the nearby bush, but before he could slice any one of us, Sungmin slashed his belly open.
"I think our enemies are coming!" I said after sensing war.
"Yes, Guyong has found out about the missing wolves and the diamond stone," Sungmin added.
"What!" I said.
"How did he find out about the diamond stone?" Jiah asked.
"You already gave it to Nara, so why is he coming for us after planting a big spy in our midst?" I said.
"I didn't. What I gave to Nara is a fake diamond stone. My father introduced me to someone who helped clone a fake one. I think it's Nara that is coming for us, not Guyong! She already found out that the diamond stone is fake!" Sungmin said.
"So where is the real one?" Jiah asked with curiosity.
"I have it!" he said, and in no time, Nara and the two wolves that escaped were standing around us, ready for war.
"Is Yangmu not supposed to be here?" I asked, waiting to hear what Jiah would say, but she intentionally did not reply.
The two wolves that escaped dashed out at us, but Jiah and Sungmin fought back. They threw poisonous claws at themselves, making angry sounds. Nara lifted her legs in a high jump towards me when Sungmin snatched me away before she tore me into shreds. His voice, deeper with rage, Sungmin yowled, ready to slash through her flesh. Nara howled back at him as they faced each other. The other two wolves lay lifeless on the ground; Jiah's claws dripping with blood. I trembled in fear; the ground stained with blood, and when I looked at the sky, vultures flew around, hoping to land on the carcass of the wolves and feed on them.
The air was bloody, full of revenge, as Sungmin and Jiah faced Nara, her eyes an evil black, just the same as Yangmu's.
"You think you can deceive me with a cloned diamond stone?" Nara said as they moved in circles, facing each other on their feet, ready for the slightest chance to jump on each other and rip out each other's heart.
"Isn't that what you deserved? A fucking betrayer like you. A disloyal servant," Sungmin said, stretching his hands towards me to receive my phone. His nails were disgusting. They looked hardened, a dirty brownish color with little pieces of flesh hanging on them. I almost threw up handing the phone over to him. His face was even worse! One side of it was a complete wolf and the other like an ancient witch. I couldn't stand the look. They were really different and seemed not to even recognize me anytime they transformed for war.
Sungmin played the record. Jiah was surprised; she must be thinking how we had managed to get that. They all heard it loud and clear when Nara said she was interested in me and also when she made a phone call with another wolf from Guyong's pack. After listening to this part, she raged in anger, stretching her neck toward the sky to let out a frustrated growl, her voice thick and resonating. She dashed out on them, slashing her nails through their flesh as she gripped Jiah's throat, lifted her, and hit her to the ground. Before then, Sungmin had thrown the phone to me, and I caught it.
"Run!" his voice, audible enough to wake a sleeping mind.
But as I ran, Nara raced after me, but Jiah quickly slashed her back with her claws, shifting her attention away from me. That was how I escaped as she darted her energy to Jiah and smashed her against the ground. I saw a weak wolf lying helplessly on the ground. I felt this was all my fault. I watched the scene from the back of a large tree where I hid.
"Sungmin, I am here. Please get Jiah out of there before Nara kills the both of you," I mind-linked him.
Jiah struggled to get to her feet again. She stood up, staring into Nara's eyes with fury. Sungmin stood beside her, facing Nara. And to my uttermost surprise, Nara fled the scene. Sungmin and Jiah transformed again.
I ran out to meet them. I still hadn't shoved the fear out of me. It was the first time I witnessed a bloody scene like this one.
"Let's leave this place right away, please," I said.
"Now that she knows, she will not stop until she has hunted us!" Sungmin muttered between groans.
"So what do you all think we should do?" Jiah asked, whimpering words.
"I don't know!" he replied.
"The wolf who helped me get this diamond stone said it can protect us, especially amidst a battle."
"That traitor, you should never believe anything he says," I said when the low grunts of two vultures shifted our attention to the dead wolves on the ground. They were fighting to pluck out their eyes.
In the house, I took out the first aid box and cleaned their wounds and cuts, and then I covered the faces of the wounds with plaster.
"What happened? Were you guys attacked?" Yangmu asked. When did he ever become this cold enough to question us? I knew that one day he would become wild. Even if he pretended to be as innocent as he claims he is, he would one day show us his true color. And Jiah would stop seeing him as a child. He isn't!
Beta Jiwon's POV
In the cell, I was left with no food or water. Omega Yumpuah and Zami became my friends. They were good at mind-linking other wolves, but not all wolves in Guyong's territory. They only mind-linked wolves that were peculiar to them.
One of the wolves that Zami could mind-link is Beta Tan. Beta Tan is Kajan's side man. He fucked her behind his master's back. It all started when Kajan secretly started to develop feelings for Beta Tan because he was more built than Guyong. He was also Guyong's right-hand man, like a second-in-command.
Beta Tan had the power to read the minds of any wolf's child. He could also see their star and know the future of a child once the child is born. So Guyong made him his second-in-command because whenever a child is born, they would bring that child to Beta Tan, and once he looks into the left palm and eyes of that child, he would tell if the child would be rivalrous to Guyong anytime in the future.
But with all the babies that had been born so far, all of them had passed the test. Even Guyong's own children had passed the test.
Now, Guyong is plotting a deadly attack on Jiah's clan so that he could get Yula to delve into the future for him and tell him if he would ever have a rival in the future or someone that would take him down.
