The Angel
Spending time with Kenai and his friends was fun, even more fun that I got to talk to him alone. He's amazing, he's funny, handsome like a god and overall, just a good person. I found myself staring into his eyes which
were a shiny midnight blue that I couldn't help but love.
I felt a strong connection with him and though I could barely feel it, whenever I touched his shoulder for making me laugh so hard I would feel tiny sparks and his muscles.
I could tell that he was strong from how big and firm his biceps were. I'm seventeen
both in human and angelic years which is rare because most angels are younger
than they would be as a human or older.
"You know we'll have to tell him, right?" My Seraphim Angelica asked.
"Yes, I know Angie, but I don't want to tell him yet. He might not even accept us, he's our destined one. I want to get to know him first
before we say anything." I tell her as I walk into my house.
"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" I yell out in Japanese as I take my shoes off at the door before putting on my slippers and going into the kitchen where my mother is preparing dinner.
"How was school? Did you find everything okay?" My mom asks as I set my backpack on the island and sit on the barstool. Americans have such weird furniture; the chairs are really high and tables even higher.
"It was good and I did, I made new friends and I might have found my destined one," I tell her as she looks at me through her lavender-colored eyelashes.
"You found him? Is he good?" She questions still preparing dinner.
"He's amazing. He's shy but he's a really good guy. You'd like him mom. Where's dad?" I ask as I take out my books to study.
"Still at work, he'll be home by the time dinner is ready. You know you didn't have to go to that school, right?" She says as she puts the rice in the rice cooker to cook before
she turns to look at me.
"I know but I had a vision he would be there and he is. Today is his eighteenth birthday and they're throwing a party for him tonight at his place. It's a Halloween party, everyone will be dressing up. Can I go?" I ask her with pleading eyes.
She looks at me before sighing, "Alright, you can go. Do you know what you're going to be?"
"I was thinking I could be in my angel form? But a more teenage appropriate one. I won't do anything to reveal myself I swear. I promise I won't reveal myself to anyone
but him tonight." The second I say that I'd promise not to screw up a bright
light flashes between us and a small angel wing with a circle around it appears
on the back of my hand.
Because I'm an angel, when I promise something, a physical symbol appears showing that I have to keep the promise for however long it will last for. This symbol will only last the night because that is what I promised her.
"Good, I expect nothing less. Ayami, please be careful, I don't want you to be hurt if he is
not whom you believe him to be." Mom said with a stern look on her face.
"I know mom, but believe me when I say that he is who I've said he is, please." I say to her in a pleading tone as I look at her with pleading eyes.
"Fine, you should get ready then, make sure to mask your glow this time love. I love you, be careful." She says kissing my forehead before going back to finish making
dinner and I smile at her telling her that I love her too before going to my room and taking a shower before I shifted into my angel form.
After an hour I shifted into my angel form but a more human visual version and not the biblically accurate version. I had chosen to wear a white knee length dress that hugged my curves and the top of the dress framed my breasts in a heart and the sleeves rested just below my shoulders and my wings were folded against my back.
I decided to put on a white choker with a crystal heart hanging from it, my shoes a pair of lace up white heals that sparkled just like my dress. I let my night-colored black hair fall
in waves that fell just above my butt.
I put some red lipstick on and put on a dark shade of blue eyeshadow that matched Kenai's eyes. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled at myself. "I hope Kenai
likes what I chose to wear tonight for his birthday. Now, what should I get him
for a present?" I ask myself thinking of something to make him.
"You should make him a music box that has your voice recorded in it." Angelica said.
"Do you think he'd like it though? What if he doesn't like music?" I ask her worried as I roll my bottom lip between my teeth.
"I have a feeling that he'll love it. He is our destined one after all, plus, he might be getting things that are more related to Halloween anyway, so why not?" She tells me
making me smile and I agree with her.
I wave my hand and a crystal crown music box appears in my hands. I open it up and record a lullaby my mother sang to me when I was little into it before closing it and putting it
on a gift box. Once I was ready, I went down stairs and said goodbye to my parents promising that I would be safe before going to the mansion on the hill that was Kenai's home.
"It's massive, does he really live here?" Angie asked sounding amazed as she looked through my eyes to look at the massive mansion that was decorated in Halloween decor with black bricks making up the outside walls holding hundreds of large windows that were layered in straight lines.
"Apparently, though I'm not complaining. It's beautiful, the decorations are amazing as well. Let's go inside and find him." I tell her before going into the house and working my
way through a big crowd of people to try and find him.
Once I find him, he's with his friends, Sally who is dressed as a devil, Lyra dressed as a fairy. Jared is dressed as a pirate and Luke is dressed as count Dracula. When my eyes
land on him, I stopped breathing. He was beautiful, dressed in a black pirate
costume with the shirt opened all the way until just below his chest and tucked
in. A fake sword hanging on one side and a fake bottle of rum on the other.
His hair was pulled back in a low pony tail that he placed over his right shoulder. His pirate hat making his bangs cover his eyes almost completely. He was standing with a hand on his hip and laughing at whatever Luke had said.
"Darling, you're drooling." Someone said from behind me and I turned around quickly from being startled. Her eyes were a bright ruby red and her black hair cascaded down her back to her knees in delicate waves that shimmered in the light like stars in the night sky.
She was clearly his mother and she was dressed as a vampire queen. Her crown adorned in black and red crystals with a black frame covered in delicate swirls and her dress was floor length with a slit going up to her thigh and her necklace was a cross with a red jewel in the middle of it.
"I'm sorry ma'am, I wasn't, I didn't." I stuttered blushing so much I swear my face looked like a tomato.
She laughed softly and I swear I heard jingles of bells, "It's okay love, go talk to him. He's
told me all about you. No need to be shy, I'm sure he'd love to see how beautiful you are dear." I blushed more when she said that Kenai had told her about me, but I smiled happily and I thanked her before turning around and going up to him.
"Did you really say that to her?" Sally asked Jared as she scowled at him.
"Don't tell me you wouldn't do the same if you were in my shoes. I was-" Jared stopped mid-sentence when his eyes landed on me when I got close enough to catch their attention.
"Hey, Kenai, she's here." Luke said making Jared close his mouth and made the girls walk away with them so Kenai and I could talk.
Once they were gone, I looked at Kenai after making sure we were at least a little alone. When I looked at him, I noticed that he hadn't looked away from me since he laid eyes
on me.
"Hi, Kenai, happy birthday." I said to him holding out the gift box to him as he just continued to stare at me which made me blush and look away while still holding out the
box.
Before I knew it, he took the box from my hands and put it on the table next to him before taking my hands and pulling me closer to him.
"Thank you and you look beautiful, would you like to dance?" He asked in a hushed tone that seemed like it was just for me to hear and all I could do was nod.
He took my hand and led me to the already crowded dance floor going to the center of it before turning to look at me a place his hand on my hip and holding my other.
"It looks really good in here, did your mom do all of this?" I ask never letting my eyes leave his shining midnight blues.
"My brothers and I helped her after school. I couldn't let her do it all by herself, even though she insisted that I get some rest before the party started. Did you wear this just for me?" He asked me and my face returned to being a bright tomato red and I swear steam just came out of my ears from how hot my face felt.
"I, did, it's your birthday party and you said that everyone could dress up. I'm still new here so this is all I could think of for a costume on such short notice given that I just stared school today. It's not bad, is it?" I tell him as I watch his eyes rake over my body but not in a sexual way that most guys would do.
He looked at me like I was a goddess that he wanted to worship and that made me feel incredibly happy. "Do you think he'll want us once he finds out what we are?" Angie asks
in my mind.
"I hope so," I tell her as I watch Kenai push a strand of my hair behind my ear. He had to be at least a foot taller than me, I felt like I was looking up at a skyscraper with how tall he was.
"No, it suits you perfectly." He said before spinning me around and then bringing me back against him. I couldn't help but shiver from the feel of his body against mine and I
couldn't help but notice that he felt cold beneath my hands.
He wrapped his hands around my hips as we danced, neither of us wanting to look away from the other and I could feel eyes on my back. Ones that made me fear for my safety. I
gently clutched his shirt as I felt the stare get stronger.
He must've felt me clutch his shirt because his hold on me became tighter. "What's wrong?" He asked softly, sensing my discomfort.
"Someone is staring at us; it makes me fear for my safety with how hard they're staring and it's getting stronger." I tell him not looking away from him for fear of what I'd find if I looked away.
"I will keep you safe, I promise." He whispered into my ear making me shiver from the close proximity of his mouth to my ear and his breath brushing against it as he
spoke.
"Gods does he know how to make a girl swoon!" Angie sighed lovingly in my head.
"Kenai? Can I dance with you? Why does the new girl get all the attention?" A female voice comes from behind me and I knew she was the one staring daggers at my back.
"Susan, leave us alone. I wanted to dance with her, am I not allowed to choose who I dance with on my birthday?" His voice sounded so cold when talking to her, as if just
hearing her name irritated him. His hold on me became tighter, telling me that he doesn't plan on letting me go.
Knowing that makes me blush. Before he could say anything else I'm ripped from his arms and falling onto the ground. "Ow!" I shout after my butt hits the ground and everyone around us stops dancing to watch the drama unfold.
"Is she so special that she gets you all to herself? What is she to you Kenai?" The girl named Susan accuses him blocking me from getting up to go to him. I was scared,
really scared, because I didn't know this girl nor what she was capable of.
"She's my mate, now leave us alone." The second I heard the word mate I looked up at him and saw the fire in his eyes as he stared at her. He was growling at her, clearly angered
that she took me from him.
