Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Intelligence

Fox and Wesley exchanged glances. The next targets of the Assassin Alliance were the High Table and its Continental Hotels. Now that there seemed to be internal conflict, it couldn't be more perfect.

Hearing John Wick's words, Smith realized this was the beginning of the John Wick: Chapter 2 plot and said:

"After I get this Dragon Ball, I'll tell you the location of the third one."

"As for this blood oath being your personal mission—feel free to go through with it."

John Wick downed his whiskey and then stood up.

"I understand," he said.

Watching John Wick leave, Wesley curiously asked:

"What exactly is this Dragon Ball you're talking about?"

Smith looked at Fox and said:

"You explain it to him."

As Fox explained, Wesley was dumbfounded, unable to believe such things existed in the world. He was also puzzled as to why someone would give John Wick a wish.

---

Meanwhile—

Santino D'Antonio arrived at the Continental Hotel and said to Winston:

"Manager Winston, could you help me get in touch with Smith Doyle?"

Winston twisted the ring on his finger and then looked up.

"Mr. Smith is not a registered member of the Continental. It's not easy to reach him."

"May I ask what it's about?"

Santino smiled and said:

"He released a message through Eddie saying that anyone with a similar item could contact him."

Hearing this, Winston became intrigued.

"Looks like you found something similar."

Santino smiled and then asked:

"I'm more curious though—who exactly is this guy? He's not even a hotel member, yet he moves around freely."

"I heard he even killed quite a few African-American assassins, and people are scared of him."

Winston didn't reveal Smith Doyle's identity and simply said:

"If you one day inherit Camorra and become one of the Twelve Seats, then you'll easily learn who he really is."

Hearing it was connected to the High Table, Santino understood Smith's identity wasn't simple.

"Please help me arrange a meeting."

Winston then called Smith Doyle.

"This is Winston, Mr. Smith."

Smith replied:

"Manager Winston. What's the matter?"

Winston continued:

"You posted a task through Eddie. Santino D'Antonio has found a similar item and would like to meet at the Continental."

"Alright. Tell him to wait for me at the hotel."

After hanging up, Smith chuckled. So it was Santino D'Antonio—the lucky one.

"Fox, drive to the Continental."

Wesley quickly asked:

"What about me?"

"Can I come?"

Smith looked at him.

"Do you have any Continental coins?"

Wesley pulled out three coins from his pocket.

"I'll cover the entrance fee."

Smith smiled.

"Alright then, let's go together."

---

The three soon arrived at the Continental Hotel. Fox handed the keys to the valet, and the trio entered together.

At the restaurant, Smith immediately spotted Santino D'Antonio enjoying steak and wine.

Smith led the group to his table, and they sat down.

Santino raised his wine glass.

"Care for a drink, Mr. Smith?"

"The steak here is great. My treat."

Smith snapped his fingers, called the waiter, and ordered three steaks and some red wine.

Santino looked around and chuckled.

"The moment you arrived, all the African assassins fled."

Smith didn't mind and said:

"Well, you chose this place."

Santino swirled his wine.

"I like the rules here."

"No killing on Continental grounds."

Smith replied calmly:

"But I'm not a registered member."

Santino tensed for a second but responded steadily:

"Still, you haven't broken the rules, have you?"

"I'm very curious about your identity, but that's not what I want to talk about today."

"What I'm more interested in is this."

He showed a photo on his phone.

It was a picture of the Four-Star Dragon Ball. Smith mentally located it and saw that a short-haired woman was tailing John Wick, holding the ball.

From the plot of John Wick: Chapter 2, she should be Ares—Santino's henchwoman and one of the few who could go toe-to-toe with John Wick.

At that moment, the waiter brought their food and drinks.

Santino gestured.

"Let's enjoy the meal first, we'll talk after."

The group dined and chatted casually.

After the meal, as the waiter cleared the table, Smith spoke:

"What are you willing to give for this intel?"

Santino thought for a moment.

"Four coins—three for the entry fee, one for the info?"

It was a fair offer, but nowhere near enough for info on a Dragon Ball.

Smith shook his head.

"Not enough."

Santino stared at him.

"What do you want?"

Smith took out John Wick's blood oath contract.

"To get this info, John Wick paid with a blood oath."

"If you want it, I'll need the same."

Santino realized he was getting a bad deal.

If just the info cost a blood oath, how valuable was the item itself?

And he already used a blood oath to hire John Wick—and was going to give the Four-Star Ball away too.

He hesitated.

"That price is too high. Is there another way?"

He wasn't willing to risk a blood oath—it could be a death sentence depending on what the other party demanded.
