She had five days to find a way out of the void. Even then if she did not find her way out today she would be punished. What kind of system was this? Was she born with it? She frowned and her mind stopped. She looked around the dark space and wondered if she had transmigrated like in those wild novels she read.
But if she transmigrated wouldn't she remember actually dying once or was that wiped clean as well. She sighed. Well, hell couldn't be much worse so she would not stop death anymore.
She looked at her pets and familiars. They were a pretty interesting crew. Maybe people always walk around surrounded by a group of … of… she didn't even know what to call them.
She stood up. "I have a task." Everyone perked up and turned to her at this announcement. 'Okay maybe they are use to this.'
"How long do you have?"
She looked to Tasha. 'They really do know.' "Five days but I get punished each day I do not make it out."
"That may mean that she has a means to leave." Alisha spoke to the group of familiars and pets as if Yana was not there. That may have been for the best. To be honest she could not be any help.
"Maybe."
"Maybe? What are you talking about DD? It is never that harsh. It is trying to push her to find what she needs. It will not actually punish her."
Demon Dust shook his head toward Tasha. "She has completely lost her memory. The so called punishment could be to get a fragment of memory back."
There was a mixture of grimacing and head nodding. Yana did not like that. So the gist of it was, getting a fragment of memory was like getting punished. Why the hell did she think a reset would be a good idea?
She turned her head to look into the distance. She understood some innate things about herself so she knew that light was attracted to her. She didn't really understand what that meant until now.
A long stream of light flew towards her from a great distance and it hit, entered, sliced her chest. She didn't know which because all she felt was searing pain.
Her entire body felt like it was on fire and all she could sense was bright light. It felt like she even smelled light. And then it was over. Her head swam a bit at the drastic changes in how she felt.
The light swirled within her and then entered into her soul. She frowned.
"You don't even remember what you are do you?" she looked to Tasha.
Tasha sighed. "You are a Shadow. A Shadow fatetress. This is how you were born."
Demon Dust moved to Yana. "She is not going to understand you right now. Let her experience for a while and it will come clear."
Amber looked to Demon Dust. "I keep forgetting you have a bit of oracle in you." The demon looked down as if he were ashamed.
Yana looked to Amber who almost instantly pursed her lips and apologized to the DD.
"I am a Shadow that attracts light?"
"You remember that but you still allowed the light to hit you?"
"I didn't think about it actually making contact. She was suddenly alert and all of her companions tensed and ready as if about to fight. A piece of information slipped into place in her mind.
"The void is devoid of light but there was just light. Does that mean that a door was opened?"
"It very well could have."
"Except for your last great idea you have always been very smart."
A scythe as black as the darkest night appeared in her hand. Let's go see what we can find."
"It allowed you to remember your shadow weapons."
Yana looked at the scythe like she didn't realize it was in her hand.
With that Alisha was on her shoulder, Amber moved to her right, Tasha moved to her left, DD moved behind her to her right, and Starlight and Jasmine entered her soul.
Because she saw the light and it entered her body she knew where it had come from so she was able to use Dimensional Step to move all of them to the location. Two seconds from the location she felt like she was about to die and she abruptly ended the step.
They had stopped one hundred meters outside of a ring of darkness that was darker than the darkness of the void. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust and she felt the others, except for Alisha use her vision to see.
She focused on it for a while and felt her Seer ability awaken within her. Her vision changed and there were layers of time before her. It seemed like there were over one hundred years of activity layered before her. She focused on one layer at a time and understood it to be a ritual conducted over and over again.
A door opened and light spilled forth and within that light there were beings. Beings of darkness but that thrived in the light. They were released here as sacrifices. And they ended up being warped and distorted and ultimately became void beasts.
This circle of complete darkness was there home and Yana understood that if they entered they would see a vast land and not this small two meter circle.
Her vision cleared but her mind did not. She knew the circle was danger but she also knew she could leave if she entered. She focused on her system.
Task Timer
4 days 10 hours 5 minutes
What the hell! It hadn't been that long had it?!
She spoke to everyone through soul speech.
'There are only 10 hours and 5 minutes left in this day. I feel we should enter the circle but I also feel it is dangerous. I do not want to enter and be punished and give away our position.'
They were all quiet for a long moment. Demon Dust spoke.
'The danger you feel is probably you being punished. We can protect you during that time because I agree that we will find a way out if we enter the circle.'
'You do know that there are void beasts inside there?'
'Void beasts?!' Thy could all feel Demon Dust's excitement and more information slotted into place for Yana. Marked demons were the natural enemy of void beasts. It was interesting how information kept slotting in, when she thought that more slotted in and she understood Alisha controlled powerful knowledge magics and when she sat on Yana's shoulder Yana had access to her innate abilities.
All Yana had to do was think on a topic and if it was incomplete or wrong she would gain the complete or correct information.
'We will enter. Since it is darker than the void I will use Shadow walk to enter.'
She got nothing but nods and her discernment did not kick in.
She stepped everyone next to the ring then into the ring. Once they entered she saw a shadowed land and then she was hit with an inexplicable pain in her soul.
