Satoru, far from being intimidated, replied with a calm, amused smile.
"Tell Lucifer I'm waiting upstairs. We still have unfinished business to discuss."
He wasn't going to waste his time on the devil's soulless guard dog.
As he walked away, he heard Mazikeen growl from behind the bar, but he didn't bother looking back.
He entered the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor of the Sunset Tower.
When the doors opened, Satoru whistled with a mix of admiration and amusement at the sight of Lucifer's luxurious penthouse.
"Hope he doesn't mind if I pour myself a drink," he said with a smile as he stepped inside, as if he already owned the place.
Oh, wait—he does own it.
…
Satoru amused himself by reading an original copy of Shakespeare's works signed by William Shakespeare himself, whom Lucifer had once helped.
He also browsed through other antiques Lucifer had collected, like a pony statue gifted to him by none other than Napoleon Bonaparte.
The very walls of Lucifer's home were antiques themselves—Assyrian architecture.
Lucifer didn't take long to return. Satoru was already waiting for him, seated.
He had heard the elevator coming up.
When the doors opened, Lucifer smiled upon seeing him there.
"Mazikeen told me you'd be here. Looks like you've had a change of heart..." Lucifer misinterpreted him again, already moving to remove his shirt.
"I'm not here to sleep with you," Satoru stood up and, for the first time, unfurled his wings.
"Brother...?" Lucifer asked, confused, taking a step back.
"Do you remember having a brother like me...?" Satoru raised an eyebrow, amused.
"I can't think of another explanation for the wings..." Lucifer raised an eyebrow in return.
Lucifer turned and headed straight for the minibar to pour himself a drink.
"Father knows I need it," Lucifer said as he poured a glass of 1811 Chateau d'Yquem wine.
Satoru whistled as he recognized it as a $123,000 wine.
"I've come to consult you about something of great importance...for me" Satoru didn't quite know how to bring up the topic.
He had been very patient, making sure he didn't make the wrong choice.
"Straight to the point, without even introducing yourself, dear brother?" Lucifer turned around, his glass already half-empty.
His expression was a bit tense. He had just discovered he had another brother—one of many—but another nonetheless.
"My name is Satoru Senju," Satoru introduced himself.
"Japanese...?" Has Father cheated on Mother...? Lucifer grew even more confused. "You don't look like one." He finished his drink and, unsurprisingly, poured himself another.
"I'm a Nephilim, half-human, half-angel. We're not actually brothers."
Lucifer frowned at the mention of a nephew.
"Angels can't reproduce," Lucifer said, completely sure of it.
Satoru raised an eyebrow, looking at himself, then back at Lucifer.
Lucifer simply couldn't deny how strange it was.
No angel had ever fathered a child before.
He had just assumed it was impossible for an angel to procreate with a human.
"Because you're my nephew, right...? I've slept with a lot of Asian women... and men."
"You're not my father, don't worry," Satoru assured him, amused.
Lucifer sighed in relief, like he had dodged a bullet. Because now, bullets could kill him.
Though strangely, only when near Detective Decker.
"So, who's the lucky one?" Lucifer asked with curiosity and a mischievous smile.
He was very curious to find out which of his brothers had made him an uncle.
"I've been allowed to choose my own Divine Gift..." Satoru ignored the question and began to explain what was on his mind. "I believe you're the most suitable one to advise me on which Divine Gift I should choose."
"That's cheating!" Lucifer pointed at him and said, not angry, but amused—and surprised.
Satoru looked at him, confused.
"Looks like Father is favoring his first grandchild," Lucifer looked up and shook his head, laughing.
Normally, an angel would develop their Divine Gift based on personality, emotions, and circumstance.
Lucifer himself had developed his Divine Gift due to the task God had once given him.
He was entrusted with shaping the universe.
Thanks to that, he developed his Divine Gift, which grants him absolute control over fire and light.
This is due to his role as God's "Lamplighter."
His task was to illuminate the universe his Father had created—giving it shape.
This earned him the title of Samael, Light Bearer.
Satoru understood why Lucifer would be surprised.
Being granted the privilege to choose a Divine Gift was definitely something to be... jealous of.
But Lucifer wasn't jealous—he was surprised.
"Father doesn't do anything without a hidden purpose. He must have big plans for you. You know... the Great Plan. I pity you..." Lucifer took a sip of his wine, looking at him almost with sympathy.
Lucifer looked at him as if he were God's next puppet.
Satoru wasn't going to tell him it wasn't God who had given him the right to choose his Divine Gift.
He'd let him misunderstand things however he wanted.
It would be annoying to explain that he wasn't from this universe.
Satoru had already realized he wasn't in DC Comics.
The DC Universe he had landed in was an amalgam of the movies and TV series.
If it were DC Comics, the concept of a Divine Gift wouldn't even exist.
Because for starters, angels like Lucifer are nearly omnipotent.
But that didn't seem to be the case here.
He was still a bit confused about it all.
"So? Will you help me?" Satoru asked him directly.
Lucifer smiled.
"Of course. I have no problem guiding my nephew."
Lucifer quickly agreed, walking to a nearby armchair to sit down.
Both sat across from each other.
Then, the sound of the elevator doors opening caught their attention.
When the doors opened, Satoru sighed.
"Brother," Lucifer greeted Amenadiel, slightly irritated by his presence.
Satoru stood up when he saw Amenadiel walking toward him.
"So it's true. One of our brothers has fathered a child with a human..."
Satoru blinked in confusion.
"Father spoke of it with our brothers. Said he had a grandson—that he's now a grandfather..."
Satoru was even more confused now.
Had the Presence introduced him as His grandson in the Silver City?
What was He thinking?
He knew God treated all His creations, including humans, as His children.
Now that he was a Nephilim, did God consider him His grandson?
Satoru nearly laughed at the thought.
It seemed the Presence hadn't gone into much detail either.
Amenadiel approached him, and just as Satoru was about to shake his hand, Amenadiel embraced him tightly, smiling.
"Shame you're already an adult. Everyone in the Silver City would've loved to have a little angel running around," Amenadiel said.
Satoru would never tell them he was only seven years old.
Lucifer rolled his eyes at the comment.
Satoru could've sworn he saw Lucifer mocking Amenadiel.
Since Amenadiel had his back turned, he luckily didn't notice.
Satoru didn't want them arguing now.
"But nephew, I don't understand what you're doing with Lucifer... You'll soon realize he's not the best company..." Amenadiel turned slightly, shooting a glare at Lucifer.
Oh.
Did Amenadiel have eyes in the back of his head? Looks like he did notice Lucifer mocking him.
"Good company? I proudly declare myself the most fun angel," said Lucifer, raising his hand, wine glass still in it.
Amenadiel completely ignored him.
"You others have... a stick shoved way up your ass..." Lucifer finished.
Satoru laughed at that.
"And just so you know, brother—our nephew came to me for advice. Father seems to have granted him the right to choose his Divine Gift..."
Upon hearing that, Amenadiel looked at him in surprise, even frowning.
Amenadiel was God's Right Hand, the main executor and messenger of the Presence for most of his life.
He had always been involved in carrying out his Father's most important orders.
But recently, he had lost his wings and celestial powers.
He had become a mere mortal.
Amenadiel believed he was being tested by his Father—that he had to be patient...
Knowing that Satoru had received the privilege of choosing his Divine Gift made him feel a little jealous.
But Amenadiel took it as one of the many trials his Father was putting him through, and buried the feeling deep within, standing firm, keeping his faith.
"I wouldn't recommend asking Lucifer for advice. You're lucky, nephew. Good thing I'm here."
