The school had wide grounds, enough to contain the three thousand and something students admitted in it. It was a. mixed school. So far, I loved the way they operated. We woke up at 5:00am every weekday for prayers, and then had our baths by 6:00am. We then proceeded to the dining hall for a quick breakfast and then to the classrooms.
I also loved the way the educators taught. I was at home with their methods of teaching, especially the science tutors. We closed by 3:30pm and had a short siesta after which we had dinner, returned for prep classes for an hour and slept by 9:00pm. I stayed awake sometimes to see if the legendary Madam Koi-koi would visit my dorm, but so far, she hadn't.
I noticed a girl had been staring at me for the past 10 mins while I was in thoughts. I looked else where and looked back to see if she was really staring at me and my predictions turned true. She was staring point blank at me.
I stood up from the stone chair I was seated on and proceeded to walk inside my dorm as the announcer announced that it was dinner time. I entered the dorm and picked my cutleries to proceed to the dining hall when a hand gripped me from behind.
"Hey, what is it?" I turned to face the person who gripped me and I recognized that it was the same girl who had been staring at me from outside. Wow, she actually followed me here.
"So sorry to disturb you. I just needed to speak with you. Are you ok with that?"
See the way her English flowed out of her mouth. She even used a British accent to speak. She was light skinned and tall, she looked pretty too. Something in me told me I knew this person but I couldn't remember where.
"I don't have any issues with it. I am actually on my way to the dining room." I replied in my Nigerian accent.
"Oh. Then we can go together. Hold on, let me get my cutleries."
I watched her approach a bunk close to the door and pick some cutleries from a side cupboard. She even stays in this dorm and I have never seen her before. We walked out side by side and she started speaking.
"Dont be offended, but I feel like I know you from somewhere. Did you by any chance attend PRECIOUS JEWELS NURSERY AND PRIMARY SCHOOL?"
I looked at her in astonishment. That was my primary school. I couldn't say a word so I nodded in response.
"Is your name Grace Thompson?"
Wow, she knew my name too. " My name is Grace Thompson, yes. How did you know? What's your name?"
I saw the look of surprise and happiness in her eyes.
"Gracie, God's Apple."
What!!!!! That name rings volumes. There was only one person who would call me Gracie and add God's Apple to it.
"Senami." I looked at her to see if it was her and seeing the look in her eyes, I screamed. "Sena the Togolese."
