The trial had now begun. There were two meeth to track down; no other information had been given by the boss. The instructions were clear. There were a total of four duos, including Alfi and Den, which meant that only two teams were to be selected. However, the lightning fist launched into the air by the boss that evening had certainly alerted their enemy to their presence. It was no longer a one-sided hunt; everyone had to be extremely careful. Our duo, Alfi and Den, stopped abruptly in the middle of the hunt. "There are two meeth to track down, and there are two of us. A great opportunity to show everyone our power as heroes, you're thinking what I'm thinking," Den said to Alfi, his eyes full of excitement, his hand on his katana. "Don't you dare die foolishly," Alfi retorted.
Immediately, the two closed their eyes, took a deep breath, and turned in opposite directions. They were ready at that moment. A leaf detached from a tree, and the moment it reached the ground, the two sped off. They had already spotted their target.
In this world where our story takes place, there are two types of entities: the Integers and the Meeth. If the Integers represent the beauty and intelligence of the creators, the Meeth, on the other hand, represent the power of these creators, who disappeared after the creation of the Integers and Meeths. The Meeth, having been created for the sole purpose of serving the Integers, rebelled against this divine order. With the creators no longer there to control them, the Golden Schism broke out, pitting Meeth against Integer. However, within the Meeth camp, there were divisions between Meeths who wanted to protect the Integers and respect the will of the creators, and Meeths who simply did not want to take part in the various battles. In the Integers' camp, a Meeth and an Integer united to wage this fight, but despite their bravery, this war would end in the victory of the Meeth and the extermination of the Integers, when suddenly… Two creators reappeared to end the war. Sinan and Kreios. They pushed back the Meeth with such ease and were even on the verge of eradicating them for their sin when the Meeths from the Integers' camp pleaded for their brethren and asked the supreme beings to spare them, which they accepted. To end the war, the creators decided to bless the alliance between Meeth and Integer by offering them the D-Soul, which until then had been locked within the Integers. This then created the Regulators, beings capable of borrowing the power of the Meeth. A new peace returned, and the creators decided to resume their work. They named this world Fantasia, and although they were the rulers, they decided to leave everyone with their free will and not interact with the free will of this world. However, they would ensure the equality of this world.
Other Meeth followed the Rulers and Integers, and others decided to explore the world. Then year zero kicked off.
But then, 500 years later, a being popped up in front of the Rulers. It was the second Golden Schism. This dude, thanks to some dark breath, managed to corrupt some Meeth to his side. That's when the Rulers stood up a second time. Ruler Kreios faced this individual and sacrificed himself. As for Ruler Sinan, she set up a barrier over the world to protect it, now split in two with the lands of the dark breath and the lands of Sinan.
To keep the peace and stop the corrupted Meeth from attacking, Ruler Sinan split herself into four zones, forming the five circles of life in her territory, and created the Guild – an organization in charge of regulating the world of the corrupted Meeth.
Den was the first to roll up on the Meeth. This one hadn't even noticed him yet. It was a bestial Meeth, a chick with a bird body. These kinds of Meeth were known for being crazy fast and having insane regeneration. Den was right behind this Meeth, who was clueless about the beatdown coming. Seeing how dark it was, ending things quick was the best move for the rookie hunter, but...
"HEYY you freak, face me or submit!" he yelled. Dude was so sure of his power, he didn't need to hide or be sneaky. This Meeth wasn't even in his league anyway.
The Meeth, now clued in, moved forward, leaving some space between him and his attacker. It was now a showdown in the dark between a master of the night and some cocky kid.
Den unsheathed his katana, gripping it with his left hand, pointing it at his opponent with a smirk.
"Let's see what you're worth, you deviant," he said, getting into his fighting stance – right foot forward, legs slightly bent, and his left arm pulled back with his katana pointing at the ground. That was his fighting style.
The Meeth then flapped its wings twice, creating a violent gust of wind that even wrecked some nearby trees. But it was useless against his opponent, who, still smirking, was just waiting for the right moment to strike. His opponent let out a piercing screech and then vanished instantly.
For a normal person, they'd probably think the Meeth just poofed, but nah, it was moving hella fast. It was hard to track with the eyes, but not for Den. He took a deep breath and then let it all out.
His opponent, circling him, moved in behind him, ready to pierce him at high speed.
"D-Factor…Activation."
He spun around exactly where his opponent's attack was about to hit and immediately knocked his opponent out cold in two hits with the hilt of his blade. A strike to the neck, so precise – fight over.
At the same time, on Alfi's side, he was also about to throw down. He also had a bestial Meeth in front of him – a creature rocking a massive shell covered in spikes, with wide, solid legs like a boulder, and a hairy face with a golden mane. Just like Den's opponent, this one was known for its insane defense. The Meeth charged at Alfi with full force, destroying everything in its path.
"D-Factor ACTIVATION."
He just raised his right hand and stopped his opponent's devastating charge without budging an inch. He then raised his left arm and with a quick, sharp move, knocked his opponent out.
With the Meeth defeated, a whistle blew immediately.
The hunt, and therefore the trial, was over.
