Thirty minutes later…
Robin reached the signing event venue and his car stopped right on the red carpet. Immediately, all eyes were on the car, wondering who owned such a luxurious ride. Almost everyone there wanted to see who the leader of Julls Corp was and speculations were going around.
However, when Robin got out of the car, the guests frowned in confusion. They had never seen him before. He looked sophisticated and elegant but they couldn't associate his face with any big family in the city.
But then Robin didn't mind their gaze, he was escorted straight into the venue and ushered to the front side of the venue.
A large table was assigned to the officials of Julls Corp and also Carla Kia who would be signing a contract with them.
Robin wasn't fazed about seeing his ex-wife who betrayed him. To him, everything was just business and profits now so, he sat down, took a light snack, and started to eat before the event started officially.
On the other hand, at the entrance, the guests had gathered around Carla Kia who had just arrived.
They rushed to her, wanting to tap from her grace.
"Have you seen the chairman of Julls Corp?" They asked the one question they were all eager to know.
Carla stood there, liking the attention on her and she smiled proudly, "Of course. I had a little chat with him today. Don't worry, I will introduce you all."
She watched them grin and praise her. Her heart swelled in her chest, thanking Terry for putting her on such a high pedestal.
However, her date Terry was running late so, she decided to go sit. But as she approached the table, she spotted a familiar figure she never thought she would see.
His hair was sleeked perfectly and his face and jaw-line became accentuated. He was even more handsome than before but all these crumbled before her eyes when she recalled his cheating stunt.
"Robin?" She marched toward him with a fierce look. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Robin turned upon hearing her voice but then he gave her a little nod before turning around again.
"I am speaking to you!" His behavior irked her so much, that she yelled, drawing attention from the guests.
"I asked what the hell is a spineless man like you doing in a gathering of influential people?" She spat.
"Well…" Robin chuckled calmly. "If I am not here, the signing event won't go on and your contract won't be signed. That's all."
"Haha…" Carla burst into a peal of mocking laughter. "Are you seriously saying that? A good for nothing like you? Are you trying to impersonate the chairman of Julls Corp?"
Hearing the chairman, some other guests quickly gathered around.
"Carla, are you saying that he is an impostor?" They asked.
"Of course. Because he is dressed in flashy clothes he probably borrowed, doesn't mean he is a big shot. He just wants to get into the high society!" She spat, her eyes spitting venom.
The other guests were already panicking, thinking Robin was there to harm them.
"Let's get him out of here!"
"Security!"
They yelled, running around. Everyone wanted to cater to Carla, and so they took her word for it. However, Robin remained calm, shocking Carla.
"Are you done mobilizing your minions?" He sneered, pointing at the guests running around to get the security.
"You really have some balls, Robin. You failed to take credit for getting me the contract because I found out in time that Terry did it…"
"And now, you are here, trying to impersonate the chairman of Julls Corp. Are you stalking me?" Her eyes shone with pride and malice, feeling like she was a woman who was sought after by men.
"Do you want to get back together with me? You regret losing me, don't you? And that is why you are trying so hard to prove that you are a real man here!" By this time, Carla was breathing heavily because of the spite she carried inside and the way she spewed out words.
Seeing her being so worked up, with her face all twisted up, Robin wondered how he was able to fall for her. The kind girl in his memory was meek, and kind, and had a beautiful presence but Carla…
"You have a lot of sick thoughts in your head, Carla. You just want to suit the sick narrative in your head. You claim Terry is the man you want. You cheated. Why don't you go to him and leave me all alone!" Robin's voice had a hint of warning that Carla couldn't deny.
"You…" She whispered, pointing a finger at him. "How dare you act all cocky? How dare you point accusing fingers at me when you cheated first!" She yelled, slamming her fists on the table.
The cutleries rattled and some fell off, startling them both.
"I cheated? What are you talking about?" Robin stood up to his feet, with a deep frown. Of all things he could tolerate, he couldn't tolerate a slander to his name.
"Oh, are you surprised I caught you?" She snickered, her angry self started to rummage through her back.
"Look at this!" She took out both jade rings, slamming them on the table angrily. "You gave Cora a ring, right? You gave her the second pair of this ring! You are the man she has been dreaming about!"
"You both cheated on me, under my nose! And yet you stand there, looking at me like I am the worst human on planet earth! You are a disgusting asshole, Robin!"
