Chapter 1 - Prologue

In the world of Daylen, a war over territory is raging between the Kingdom of Anthor and the Kingdom of Leithor.

Amidst the chaos, there stood the strongest swordsman of Anthor, known as the Blade of a Thousand Swords for his mastery over countless sword techniques. His name was...

Suddenly, a brown haired man in knightly armor charged at his enemies, sword in hand.

"Take this, you bastards!" he shouted, slashing down enemies around him, his body weary from battle.

...Gareth Eltros. The strongest swordsman in the world.

"Ha-hah..." he gasped for breath. "Damn it, there are too many of them. Looks like this is my limit."

Unbeknownst to him, poison mages had begun targeting him from afar. Their spells hit, and the effects of the poison began to spread.

"Damn, poison magic... Hah, so this really is my last fight," he muttered, his eyes half-closed.

Then, one of his subordinates rushed over. "General Gareth, are you alright?!" the soldier asked with trembling voice and labored breath.

"I'm fine," Gareth replied, barely able to breathe.

Still, he continued fighting against the soldiers of Leithor, but...

"Argh... damn it, I'm going to die here," he said, his voice shaking, sweat pouring down his face.

Archers and mages surrounded and attacked him. Soon after, his body staggered and he collapsed.

"General, are you alright?!" his soldier cried out in panic.

"Please... win this war," Gareth said with heavy breath.

"Yes, General," his soldiers replied with bowed heads.

"This poison... is too strong to cure..." he whispered as his vision faded.

He looked up toward the sky one last time as his eyes slowly dimmed. Moments later, Gareth died on the battlefield.

Meanwhile, the war between Anthor and Leithor continued until eventually, Anthor claimed victory.

Back to Gareth he felt like he was sinking into the depths of the sea.

"Haha... so this is the end," he said, his breath fading.

Suddenly, he heard the voices of a joyful man and woman.

"At last, he's born. I've waited nine months for this," said the woman.

"Our fourth child... finally," said the man.

Hearing their voices, Gareth grew confused. "Whose voices are these?" he wondered.

Slowly, Gareth opened his eyes.

"Where... am I?" he thought. His vision cleared, revealing five people in front of him. Two were adults a man with yellow eyes, black hair with a short black beard, and a woman with long brown hair and green eyes, around thirty-five years old.

The other three were children: the eldest, a twelve year old girl with green eyes and long black hair; a ten year old boy with short black hair and yellow eyes; and a five year old girl with shoulder length brown hair and yellow eyes.

"Hey, look his eyes are open," said the man.

"Wow, he has your eyes, but my hair," the woman said, smiling warmly.

Then she spoke gently, "At last, you've come into this world." Her smile was full of love. "What should your name be? Hmm... how about Kylan? Kylan Evenhart. That's a lovely name," she said sweetly.

Gareth now Kylan listened in confusion to the unfamiliar name.

"I can't wait until you're old enough to play with," said the eldest daughter with a bright smile.

Gareth now Kylan remained lost in confusion.
