A few days after birth
"What is this? Was I reborn?" Kylan said in a confused tone.
"This feels impossible, but it's happening," he added in disbelief.
Like any other baby, he couldn't speak or do anything he wanted, as his body was still that of a newborn. Even if he tried to speak, what came out were just baby babbles or cries.
"Huh, I'm so powerless here," he muttered helplessly.
"Eh? I think something just came out of my butt..." he said, shocked.
You can probably guess what came out.
Then Kylan continued, "This woman must be my mother, and that weird man over there must be my father," he thought, watching the man make funny faces trying to entertain him.
"And those... are probably my siblings?" he thought while looking at the three kids playing nearby.
His mother then spoke, "All done, my smart little Kylan," she said lovingly, kissing him on the cheek.
"I'm curious about this family," Kylan said internally.
Suddenly, the eldest daughter of the family, Kylan's big sister, approached him.
"Mom, can I take sweet little Kylan around the house?" she asked with a smile.
"Of course, dear," the mother replied warmly and handed Kylan over.
"Hey! Where are you taking me?" Kylan thought helplessly, unable to move his tiny body.
"Come on, little brother, let's go for a walk," said his sister cheerfully, carrying him.
As they walked past a mirror, Kylan caught a glimpse of his reflection.
He had slightly brown hair and green eyes.
They continued down the hallway, and Kylan felt delighted realizing something.
"So I was born into a noble family, thank goodness!" he thought excitedly.
"Especially after the king cut my salary by 50% for four months just because I was two days late," he remembered bitterly.
They stopped in front of a framed family tree. Kylan pointed at it.
His sister noticed. "You want to go there? Alright," she said and brought him closer.
The Evenhart Family.
"So this is my family tree. My father's name is Darius, my mother's name is Lyria, my eldest sister who's holding me is Luna, my older brother is Darren, and the youngest of my sisters is Lyria too? Then I'm the youngest child," Kylan concluded.
As night fell, Kylan yawned. Luna noticed.
"Sleepy already, little brother? Alright, let's get you to bed," she said sweetly and took him to his room.
They arrived at the nursery. She gently laid him in the crib.
"Good night, my sweet little brother," she said and kissed his forehead, turned off the lights, and left.
Kylan's eyes closed, and he fell asleep.
Seven years later
Kylan was in his room reading a book he'd taken from the family library.
"So this is the world of Warevare... In other words, I was reborn in another world," he said as he flipped through the pages.
"There are four continents here: Rebunolir in the south, Ludosiren in the north, Terissian in the east, and Pokegart in the west. All governed by empires."
"I was born in Rebunolir, home to four empires: Cyanos, Crimsonir, Verdaron, and Dawngold. I live in the Cyanos Empire, and my family is a middle-ranking noble family."
He kept reading.
"There are also four kingdoms or cities under the empire's rule: Redone, Redtwo, Redthree, and Redplus. I live in Redplus."
He continued.
"This world uses mana as a power source? In my old world, we had something similar called 'techniques,' where anyone could use them if they trained hard enough. Hmm? How to use mana? Interesting let's try it."
He placed the book down on the table next to his chair.
"The first step is to take a deep breath and feel the mana inside your body, especially near the heart. Then, you should sense something flowing within you."
He inhaled deeply, sat calmly, and relaxed... but—
"Why?! I don't feel anything! I've been sitting like this for minutes," he exclaimed, irritated and surprised.
"Could it be... I don't have any mana?! Then I'll try using techniques instead!" he said, now full of determination.
He tried using the techniques by focusing and putting pressure on his body, but...
"Why... WHY STILL NOTHING?!" he yelled in frustration, rolling on the floor.
Just then, someone opened the door.
"Oi, Kylan, why are you always in your room?" the voice said, slightly annoyed.
A boy with short white hair and gray eyes stepped inside.
Kylan sighed internally. "Him again... That's my friend. No, my best friend in this world Riven Velderat. Our families are close. Even though he looks calm and cool, he's actually hyper, reckless, and overly enthusiastic."
"What is it, Riven?" Kylan asked.
"We promised to play today!" Riven said loudly.
"Alright, alright, let's go," Kylan replied, dragging himself up.
On the way
"So, where are we going?" asked Kylan.
"Let's go to the forest and hunt some monsters!" Riven said energetically.
"Haaah... Just because you're the prophesied hero doesn't mean you have to drag me into your adventures," Kylan replied casually.
Kylan thought to himself, "Riven is the hero destined to save this world. He can wield six elements—fire, water, earth, wind, lightning, and light. He's probably meant to defeat the Demon King or something like that."
They entered a dense forest, where they encountered several wild wolves ready to attack.
"Get ready, Kylan!" Riven shouted with excitement.
They both drew their swords. Riven charged first.
"Take this, mutts!" he shouted as he slashed at the wolves.
Slash!
Kylan watched Riven's movements and somehow, just by observing, he felt he could replicate them.
He mimicked the strike perfectly.
Slash!
"Yeah... I used to be called the Thousand Blade Swordsman because I could copy any technique just by seeing it once," he recalled.
They fought off the wolves together and finally defeated them.
"Phew... finally done," Kylan said, slightly exhausted.
"Let's keep going!" Riven said, still full of energy.
"You idiot, at least let me rest a bit," Kylan replied, tired.
"Weakling. Come on, hurry up!" Riven urged.
"Fine, fine," Kylan replied reluctantly.
They continued their journey.
Meanwhile, a girl with long blue hair was watching them from behind the trees.
She whispered to herself, "He has not a single drop of mana".
