Andrew pressed the answer key. His voice was calm. "Grandpa, what is it?"
But the voice on the other end exploded with fury. "Andrew, are you trying to drive me to my grave? You think you're so capable now, don't you?"
Andrew was slightly stunned. He truly didn't understand why his grandfather was so angry.
"Grandpa, what happened?" he asked respectfully, still confused.
"What happened? Don't you know what you've done? You tell me why you went and started a media company?"
"And then made a public statement about signing Charlotte?"
"Do you have any idea how much that would hurt Katherine?" Old Master Zhou's voice was full of rage.
Andrew's expression remained cold, but a flicker of complicated emotion flashed in his eyes. He spoke slowly, "Grandpa, please stay out of this. I have my own plans."
"Plans? What plans?!" Old Master Zhou grew even more furious.
"You're just driving Katherine further and further away."
"Do you even know how much she's been suffering these past two years? You ungrateful brat. Is this how I raised you?"
"Grandpa, it's not—"
Before he could finish, the call ended with a harsh beep.
Andrew slowly lowered the phone. The frown on his face deepened.
He couldn't deny it—he did all this hoping Katherine would take the initiative to contact him.
But it was clear now that she wouldn't.
She had already uninstalled all news apps and deleted all his contact information.
She didn't know what he was doing. And even if she did, she wouldn't care.
Right now, she was focused on packing things up at home, trying to clear her name, and preparing to resign from Concord Hospital.
Butler Li saw how furious Old Master Zhou was and tried to calm him down. "Sir, don't get so worked up. Let the young people deal with their own problems."
"Sometimes, if you push Young Master Andrew too hard, it might backfire."
Old Master Zhou sighed. "You don't understand, Li. That kid can't see his own feelings clearly. He obviously cares about Katherine."
"I'm just afraid he's going to mess things up so badly, he'll lose her completely. You tell me, what kind of marriage is it when the husband hasn't been home once in two years?"
"If one day Katherine asks for a divorce, what excuse can I possibly give to defend him?"
Old Master Zhou shook his head. "That Charlotte clearly has schemes. And Andrew can't even see it."
"Now look, he's even brought her into his own company."
Butler Li also couldn't understand why the young master was treating Charlotte differently.
"Sir, do you want me to investigate why Young Master Andrew is giving Miss Charlotte special treatment?"
"I don't think he likes her. Back when they came over for dinner, I could tell."
Old Master Zhou's eyes lit up. "Right. I completely forgot about that. Go find out what's really going on between them."
"I want to know what made him act this way."
"I'll arrange it right now," Butler Li replied and quickly left.
…
At Concord Hospital.
Shanshan was sitting in the surgery director's office.
"Director Wang, did you really take care of that matter?" she asked.
Director Wang had a sleazy smile on his face. As he spoke, his hand slid onto her thigh. "Of course. When it comes to you, Shanshan, I'll take care of everything."
Disgust flashed in Shanshan's eyes at his touch, but she didn't resist. She still needed his help to go abroad.
"Sana is going abroad to study. Will she forget about me?"
Shanshan forced a smile. She knew she had to play the part that pleased this man.
A charming smile quickly appeared on her face. She stood up and slowly sat on Director Wang's lap, her slender arm wrapping around his neck as she softly said,
"How could I? Even if I go overseas, I'll think about you every day."
As she spoke, she leaned close to his ear and gently blew a breath of air. "I promise I'll miss you day and night."
Her voice was so soft and sweet it could make anyone's bones tremble.
Meanwhile, Nurse Sana had just left Katherine's place when she realized she'd left her house key at the office.
Helpless, she turned back to the hospital and went to her desk drawer, where she quickly found her key. As she was about to leave, a colleague called out to her for help.
"Sana, can you take this case file to Director Wang for me?"
The colleague looked anxious. "Please, I have a patient waiting for me right now."
Sana, always warm-hearted, agreed without hesitation. "Sure, hand it over. I'll take it to him."
"Thanks! I've gotta go!" the colleague said, rushing off.
Sana picked up the case file and headed toward the director's office.
At that moment, inside the office, the atmosphere was getting more intimate.
Shanshan's cheeks were flushed, and with a hint of nervousness and shyness, she asked, "Did you lock the door? What if someone comes?"
Director Wang's eyes gleamed with desire as he said casually, "Don't worry. It's locked. Only two people are on duty today. You're one of them. Who else would come?"
As he spoke, his hands started to move restlessly. "Stop wasting time..."
Shanshan's body trembled uncontrollably.
Sana reached the office door and was about to knock when she heard something unusual from inside.
As an adult, she immediately realized what was going on.
A thought flashed through her mind. She took out her phone and checked the duty schedule. Only two people were on shift today—Shanshan was one of them.
Could it be her inside?
If it really was, then the situation with Katherine being framed might be far more complicated. Could Director Wang be involved too?
Sana's heartbeat sped up. She took a deep breath and mustered the courage to knock on the door.
The sudden knock startled the two inside as if they were shocked by electricity.
Panic instantly appeared on Shanshan's face. "Didn't you say no one would come?"
Her voice was full of fear and frustration.
Director Wang looked annoyed, his mood completely ruined by the interruption. He cleared his throat and shouted, "Who is it?"
Sana hesitated for a second before replying, "Director Wang, it's Nurse Sana. Dr. Zhang asked me to deliver this case file to you."
Director Wang quickly gave Shanshan a look, signaling her to tidy up. He hurriedly got up and pulled up his pants.
"I'm in the middle of something important. Nurse Sana, you can go back. I'll come to your office and get it later," he said, trying to send her away.
But Sana didn't move. She calmly responded, "Dr. Zhang specifically asked me to hand it to you directly. She said it's very important."
She paused for a moment. "If you're busy, I'll just wait outside the door."
When Shanshan heard how persistent she was, rage flared inside her. She never took this rookie seriously. Just a newcomer—how much trouble could she cause?
She straightened her clothes and marched toward the door.
As she passed Sana, she deliberately bumped into her shoulder hard. Her eyes were full of provocation and disdain.
Sana quietly watched her walk away. Deep down, she was sure now—Shanshan really did have a secret relationship with the director.
