For a whole week thereafter, the Imperial Palace remained quiet. The news that came back only mentioned that Theodore had been in a bad mood recently.
This was normal; he hated the feeling of losing control, and with frequent unexpected events lately, it was natural for him to be uneasy.
Roy wanted to find some opportunity to test Theodore's state, but it was even harder for her to see her fiancé now. Maybe he was suspicious of her, or perhaps instinctively resisted her approach. Every time she went to the Imperial Palace, Theodore had ample reason to keep Roy at the door.
The preparations for the wedding were becoming increasingly tedious and hectic, giving Roy a headache.
"I don't want to meet any more ladies to talk about how to please a future husband. Nor am I interested in how many dresses to change for the wedding, what fabric to use for the shoes, or what to do at each step."
One day, she said this to her brother.
