Chapter 10 - Traces of Two Worlds

Liyn looked at Myra with slightly raised eyebrows, but the girl looked up instead, as if searching for something in the shadow-filled classroom ceiling.

"Once upon a time," Myra began softly, "Orien came from the Hesra Clan lineage. They were once of the same blood, the same family. But everything changed with the arrival of two siblings—the older brother named Hesra, and the younger sister... Orien."

Liyn narrowed her eyes. "Orien? You mean it's not just the clan's name, but also a person's name?"

Myra nodded. "Yes. And supposedly, this Orien was actually much stronger than his older brother. But there was one thing… that caused him to be rejected."

Liyn leaned forward. "What was it?"

Myra lowered her voice, almost to a whisper. "He was a bastard. His mother claimed he was born because… she was forced by a mysterious man."

Liyn fell silent. Her gaze froze.

"They say the man was strange. His silver hair was long, almost touching the ground. His face was never clearly seen. People called him a creature of the shadows. After that, his mother was expelled from the clan."

Liyn swallowed slowly. "And Orien went with his mother?"

"He was still a child at the time. But yes, he chose to go. Some clan members who disagreed with the expulsion... eventually joined them. From that small group, the Orien Clan was formed."

There was a pause. The classroom felt quieter than usual, with only the faint sound of the fan audible.

"At first, they lived simply, in hiding," Myra continued. "But it's said their power... far surpassed the Hesra Clan. Maybe that's what made Hesra afraid. Or jealous."

Liyn stared at Myra more intently. Her words began to feel like secrets that shouldn't be shared.

"And like all old stories," Myra sighed, "conflict eventually erupted. The Hesra Clan attacked first. They sent wild beasts, poisoned the river where the Orien Clan lived... and burned their village at night."

Liyn froze. She didn't even realize she was holding her breath.

"Since then, the Orien Clan has been scattered. They live in the shadows, moving from place to place. Many have died. Those who remain... are few."

Myra finally stopped. Her gaze was no longer playful as usual. This time it was serious. Deep.

"That was long ago. But they say... there are still survivors. Their descendants. And they... haven't forgotten."

Liyn bowed her head, silent. But inside her heart, something stirred.

The bell rang loudly. Soon after, the classroom became bustling—students began arriving and taking their seats.

Today began with a lesson eagerly anticipated by some students: Arkana History.

A middle-aged woman teacher with neatly gray hair and a calm gaze entered the classroom. Her name was Mrs. Thyra, a legendary teacher who had been teaching since Leith's school days. Though known for her calm and understanding nature, behind her gentle demeanor, Mrs. Thyra was a true historian—especially in understanding ancient symbols and Syntara letters.

"Alright, everyone. Is anyone still outside the classroom?" Mrs. Thyra asked in a soft yet firm voice.

"Everyone is here, Mrs. Thyra. We're all present today," Viola replied loudly.

"Good," Mrs. Thyra nodded, then began writing on the blackboard.

The Separation of the Arkana World and the Human World

"Alright, today we will discuss the continuation of the previous material. Please open your textbooks to page 107. Also prepare your notebooks, as there will be additional points from me that are not included in the book."

The students began opening their books. Among them, Liyn appeared very focused—history was indeed one of her favorite subjects.

Ms. Thyra began explaining:

"The history of the separation between the Arkana World and the Human World began around 150 years ago, specifically in the year 760 CE. At that time, conflicts between ordinary humans and the Syntara began to escalate. Social and power disparities were the main triggers."

She looked at the entire class calmly.

"The nation of Jharaka, located on the eastern continent, was the initial spark of the conflict. They employed humans as servants, even as slaves. Some of them were bought and sold. This treatment spread to the four other major nations—including our own nation, Arkavel."

"Over the next two decades, tensions continued to rise. Eventually, a civil war broke out between humans and Syntara. However, not all Syntara supported this action—some defended humans, and this is what caused the division to become even more complex."

Ms. Thyra wrote on the blackboard:

First Five Continents Conference — May 30, 772 AD

"On this date, leaders from the five major countries gathered for the first time. Their goal was to find a long-term solution to the conflict."

"However, the outcome was quite controversial. They decided to expel all humans from the five major countries, as they were considered a source of chaos and a burden."

"This decision sparked protests from several small countries and neutral groups. For two years, there was what was called a 'cold war' between Syntara and humans—not through weapons, but through propaganda, economic pressure, and regional isolation."

"Then came the next crucial point..."

He wrote again:

Second Five Continents Conference — June 16, 774 AD

"At this second conference, the decision to expel humanity was finally agreed upon in full. As a form of 'compensation,' humanity was given one-third of the Earth's territory—an empty continent without civilization, uninhabited by anyone."

"That continent became humanity's new home, and this marked the beginning of the separation between the Arkana world and the human world."

Ms. Thyra slowly walked to the center of the classroom, looking at her students one by one.

"However, another important decision emerged from this conference: the measurement of Veyra levels."

"Every human was tested for their Veyra level. If someone had a Veyra level of 1 or higher, they were allowed to stay in Arkana. However, if the result was 0%, they had to be relocated to the human continent."

Some students appeared to be writing quickly.

"This process was not easy. There were many protests, demonstrations, and political conflicts. But after a lengthy process spanning three years, the world of Arkana was finally completely free of ordinary humans."

"To maintain this distinction, a border portal was created connecting Arkana and the human world."

"However, anyone who passes through that portal will permanently lose their Veyra power. This is known as the Syntara Erasing Wave phenomenon—a magical field that neutralizes all Veyra energy."

Mrs. Thyra paused briefly, giving the students time to take notes.

"This event marked a major turning point in our history. From here on, the Arkana world stood as an exclusive domain for Syntara, Scientists, and humans with minimal Veyra abilities."

She smiled.

"Today's question: is this separation truly fair? And… is this history written from a neutral perspective? Keep those questions in mind, as we'll discuss them further next week."

Mrs. Thyra looked at the class for a moment, then smiled slightly before speaking again.

"Since this news has been hotly debated lately… I've become interested in discussing it further."

She then took a marker and began writing on the blackboard again, her movements calm yet meaningful.

Erlik Strom

Sagittarius Sylas

Some students exchanged glances, while others began whispering curiously.

"Alright, before we take a break, I have a simple task for you. Please discuss in pairs, or at most two people per table."

"Discuss—have you ever heard of these two names? Who do you think they are? And… what do they look like in your imagination?"

She looked around the classroom, pausing briefly to build anticipation.

"Write down your thoughts briefly, in the form of a short note. After break, we'll discuss it together."
