Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Level 2 Stealth

"Because you remained motionless for more than three seconds, you activated Level 1 Passive Stealth. Most insects will ignore you unless you appear directly in front of them."

"You passively activated Level 1 Danger Perception. You can observe the area within a 10-meter radius, but the dense wild grass creates a significant obstruction."

Wang Wu lay in the grass, feeling every cell in his body revolt, then transform into a surging hot current flowing throughout his body. His wounds were also recovering at a rapid pace, reflected in his attribute panel by a +0.1 to his Health every few moments.

However, he also noticed that the recovery of his Stamina consumed his Satiation.

What made him happiest was that, from top to bottom, most of the attributes in his attribute panel now had a small '+' sign next to them.

Does this mean they can be upgraded?

Wang Wu thought for a second. Right now, he couldn't beat anyone, so hiding himself was very important.

Other attributes could be considered in the long run.

With a thought, a warm current naturally formed within his body, like a whirlwind, continuously expanding and upgrading, eventually covering his entire body. At the same time, a full 20 points of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi were consumed.

At this moment, all the '+' signs on the attribute panel disappeared. It seemed that 20 points of Spiritual Qi was the basic upgrade standard.

Meanwhile, he also felt as if he had integrated with his surroundings. Even his breathing, heartbeat, and the flow of his blood seemed to merge into a certain rhythm, which was simply marvelous.

Three seconds later, a message silently appeared.

"Because you remained motionless for more than three seconds, you activated Level 2 Passive Stealth. Most insects and some wild beasts will ignore you unless you appear directly in front of them."

"Some wild beasts?"

Wang Wu was a bit worried. Level 2 Passive Stealth still wasn't very secure.

The only thing that gave him peace of mind was that his Level 1 Self-healing was constantly at work, and his Satiation was sufficient. He consumed a small amount of Satiation roughly every minute in exchange for a slow recovery of his Health.

Automatic health regeneration was excellent.

Otherwise, under normal circumstances, if a wild beast was injured, it almost certainly meant death.

He remained hidden, on edge, for nearly five hours. At the cost of 240 Satiation points, Wang Wu successfully recovered his Health, and the wounds all over his body quickly scabbed over, as if he had never been injured.

In addition, there was more good news: this area seemed very safe, though it might also be due to the effects of his Level 2 Stealth.

Wang Wu truly wanted to stay hidden here forever, but unfortunately, by noon, his remaining Satiation was depleted, and the shadow of hunger loomed once more.

Moreover, as his Satiation decreased, his Stamina also slowly declined.

"Turns out having too good a digestive ability is also a big problem!"

He looked up at the bright sun, hesitated for a moment, and decided not to take any risks.

Yesterday, the reason he dared to go out and scavenge for food was because of the Rock Crevice. Not far from it was a patch of grass, and at the slightest disturbance, he could immediately retreat into the Rock Crevice.

But today, he had come around to this side of the cliff, where there was no Rock Crevice for him to hide in. If he were discovered, the consequences would be dire.

Otherwise, why were those Grey Rats Heavy Cavalry in the bushes not moving?

In fact, the entire Valley had been very quiet.

He couldn't see the Flame Scorpions on the second small mountain, nor the White-haired Rats on the third small mountain. He couldn't even see those fiery red little birds, or the Mantis, or the Black Snake .

It was as if it were a dead place, but only by witnessing the sunrise that morning would one understand how vibrant and full of hidden Dragons and crouching tigers this Valley truly was.

Therefore, he absolutely could not move, even if he starved to death!

He had to be hard on himself.

Thus, Wang Wu endured his rumbling stomach, the scorching sun, and thirst, toughing it out in the grass through the long afternoon. As the sun began to set, the Valley was bathed in a golden glow, beautiful beyond compare. Fiery red little birds finally emerged from somewhere in mid-air, flitting and dancing among a few large trees.

There weren't many trees in this Valley; at a glance, they were sparse, perhaps only thirty to fifty of them.

But the trees where these fiery red little birds nested were unique.

Their leaves were broad, their trunks thick, and they were at least fifty meters tall. There were six such trees in total, and it seemed they were all occupied by this flock of fiery red little birds.

The other trees in the Valley appeared severely malnourished, with the tallest being no more than ten meters. The one Wang Wu was currently relying on for shelter was probably less than ten meters tall.

Aside from that, the most abundant vegetation in this Valley was dense patches of bushes.

These bushes, about two meters tall, were like an independent Small World. Their dense foliage and sharp thorny branches isolated them from most natural predators. If there were also a Creek within the bushes, it would truly be a paradise.

However, these bushes were not easy to enter, as this was the territory of the Grey Rats.

As he was pondering, Wang Wu suddenly saw a team of Grey Rats appear at the edge of a patch of bushes a few tens of meters away. They looked plump and round, seemingly cute, but only those who had faced their frontal charge knew how fierce they truly were.

"Wait, what are they doing?"

Wang Wu blinked hard and saw this team of Grey Rats working together to drag a huge leaf, similar to a banana leaf. This leaf was piled high with red berries, and he could smell their sweet fragrance even from this distance.

Oh, I can't take it, I really can't!

At this moment, Wang Wu couldn't help but want to rush out and plunder them.

However, he held back, because two more teams of Grey Rats emerged in formation. These two teams of Grey Rats were exceptionally strong, each one as big as half a small Teddy bear, with bulging muscles and immense strength. Not only that, but they also wore small vests—no, armor, damn it!

These two teams of Grey Rats scurried out, like two teams of Heavy Cavalry, guarding on both sides, escorting the team of Grey Rats carrying the red berries.

"Chirp chirp!"

Several fiery red little birds flew down, chirping arrogantly, but the Grey Rats seemed to ignore them, paying them no mind. In a moment, more fiery red little birds flew down and began to dive uninhibitedly, snatching away the red berries one by one. In no time, the red berries on the banana leaf were completely gone.

But the Grey Rats remained unmoved.

It wasn't until the fiery red little birds returned to the large trees, appearing like red flames in the setting sun, that two more teams of Grey Rats rushed out from the bushes, carrying more red berries. This time, however, there were no fiery red little birds to intercept them; it seemed that having received their share, they would allow passage.

This batch of Grey Rats moved quickly, heading straight for the second small mountain behind the cliff, which was the territory of the Five White Mice.

And as they passed the first small mountain, the territory of the fiery red scorpions, as expected, dozens of small scorpions rushed out, seemingly wanting to play the role of Great King. But the two teams of Grey Rats Heavy Cavalry were not to be outdone. Both sides left behind a few corpses, considering their mission accomplished, and the red berries on the banana leaf were delivered to the nest of the Five White Mice.

Wang Wu watched from the grass, greatly shocked, and at the same time, he yearned for those red berries.

However, he also clearly understood that although the areas in this Valley seemed small, each truly had its own ecological niche. If he tried to start savagely, he wouldn't get any good results.

Therefore, only by outsmarting them!
