Bonus Chapter
--------
Paris, under the Eiffel Tower
The scene was chaotic, thick with the smell of gunpowder and blood. The ground was riddled with potholes and scattered with broken stones.
Bodies of assassins lay strewn everywhere, clear evidence of a fierce battle that had just taken place.
John Wick and Caine, having dealt with their respective attackers, approached Alex Ray.
As they moved forward, they saw the Marquis Vincent de Gramont's lifeless body, with Alex standing beside it, a grim expression on his face.
Caine smiled and said, "Thank you, Alex. Thank you for saving my daughter and killing the Marquis. This ordeal is finally over. Let's go—I owe you noodles."
Alex replied solemnly, "It's not over yet. Before he died, the Marquis launched a massive missile—a nuclear warhead. Its target: the city of Paris. He wanted to bury the entire city with him."
Madman!
That was the first thought both John Wick and Caine shared upon hearing Alex's words.
He actually intended to take the whole city down with him.
"Is there any way to stop it?" John Wick asked, his voice calm but tense.
Alex was relieved to hear that neither of them wanted to run away. Despite their cold-blooded reputations, neither would let innocent people suffer.
Alex Ray enjoyed making friends, but he had firm boundaries. Above all, he wouldn't tolerate betrayal, and he hated the idea of killing innocents. After all, in his past life, he was just an ordinary person trying to survive. In a world full of superheroes and supervillains, survival was even harder.
You might go to work only to find the car you bought on loan wrecked in the aftermath of a superhero battle. Or be caught in crossfire between alien invasions and other catastrophes while just walking down the street.
So if possible, Alex didn't want innocent people to get hurt. Clearly, the Marquis had crossed that line.
. . . . . .
French Government
"Reporting to the leader: a nuclear warhead will strike the capital in ten minutes," an officer in military uniform burst into the leader's office.
"What?" The leader immediately stood up and gave orders.
"Who is behind this? Are they trying to start World War IV? Begin evacuation at once, and see if the Intelligence Service can intercept the missile."
"Chief, it's no longer safe here. We need to retreat immediately," the officer warned.
Another agent entered.
"The leader has traced the missile to Marquis Vincent de Gramont, a member of the Paris High Table. The exact origin remains unknown. We are attempting to prevent the missile from entering the city airspace. If it reaches the city, half of Paris will be obliterated."
"It's too late to alert the citizens for evacuation. The military is organizing a suicide squadron to try to intercept the warhead mid-air."
"Leader, the situation is critical. Please retreat immediately."
"Dispatch forces to meet with the High Table representatives and demand an explanation," the leader ordered angrily.
At this moment, FBI, CIA, S.H.I.E.L.D., and the FSB were all coordinating, trying to understand the unfolding disaster.
. . . . . .
High Table Headquarters, Desert near Casablanca
"What is the Marquis trying to do? First, he kills the High Table envoy, then launches a nuclear missile. Is he trying to destroy the entire High Table?" a High Table elder asked angrily on the video feed.
"Our immediate priority is to expel the Marquis from the High Table," Elder Makutum said calmly. "We must declare him a traitor and find a way to neutralize this missile. If we fail, we're finished."
At that moment, the elder representing the Hongmen faction asked, "Is Kingpin's godson there? Doesn't he have superpowers? Maybe he can stop this. If he does, the High Table will owe him a favor."
The elders on the screen fell silent, apparently in agreement.
Elder Makutum made no comment but picked up the phone and dialed Alex Ray's number—provided by Wilson Fisk.
"Mr. Ray, this is Elder Makutum of the High Table. A nuclear missile is set to detonate over your city in nine minutes. Can you handle the situation?" Makutum asked bluntly.
"Hello, Elder Makutum. I'm working on a solution now, but don't worry—I'll survive. Though, asking me to solve this might be a bit much," Alex replied over the phone.
"Well, if you manage to solve this, all High Table members will owe you a favor," the elder promised.
"Don't worry. Even without your request, I want to stop this missile. I don't want innocent people dying," Alex said before quickly hanging up.
Alex began running through ideas in his mind. Chaos magic wouldn't work—firstly because the scale was too large, and secondly, his energy bar wasn't sufficient to control such a missile. Even high-speed teleportation couldn't save an entire city from the blast and its aftermath.
Frustrated, Alex cursed his lack of strength.
Since mystic measures failed, science might help...
Suddenly, he had an idea. He had a contact who was cursed with knowledge.
He quickly dialed Tony Stark.
"Hey, isn't this Alex Ray from Hell's Kitchen? You've been quite the underground sensation lately. You set off fireworks in Hell's Kitchen a few days ago. So, have you figured out who's behind all this?" Tony teased, unaware of the gravity of the situation.
"Long story short, I'll tell you the culprit soon. But right now, I need your help. In less than ten minutes, a nuclear warhead will explode over Paris. I'm here too. If you want to know who's behind this, help me stop it," Alex stated urgently.
Tony instantly recognized the seriousness and pulled up data screens. "Jarvis, locate the missile heading to Paris."
Information flooded Tony's display.
"How's it looking? Time's tight and the stakes are high," Alex asked.
"It might be tough for others, but for a genius like me, it's manageable," Tony said. "There are two options: prevent the missile from detonating, or redirect it to explode somewhere unpopulated."
Tony paused, then added, "There's probably someone in the government who knows how to hack the missile's guidance system. It's just difficult and time-sensitive. If we had more time, it'd be easier."
"So, can you do it or not?" Alex cut in.
"Stop questioning me. I'm already cracking it. Just give me some time," Tony replied, fingers flying over the keyboard.
Minutes ticked by until, just one minute before the missile's arrival, Tony announced, "Done. I've set it to fly over the Pacific Ocean and detonate. There won't be anyone within a hundred kilometers of the blast."
. . . . . .
"Chief, someone changed the missile's course. It's heading over the Pacific Ocean now. Paris is safe," the agent reported.
The leader sighed in relief.
"Connect me to the High Table. I want to speak to their representative," the leader ordered, furious.
