Arnold's POV
I'd be pathetic if I said that I wasn't scared at all. The moment that I saw her running for her life, I was devastated. I saw how she held on and did her best to reach that village, and I hoped that she'd be safe inside those walls.
I was taken aback when I felt his soft palm brushing my hair while the other was tapping my back. She was trying to calm me even if she's the one who needed it.
"I made it, honey. I'm alive, and nothing bad happened to me. I did my best to survive and make sure I'll come home for you. It might be a scary experience, but it was worth it," she says.
She cupped my face and met my eyes. "It's worth it because it's you, my love. It's you whom I'm running for. So please... smile for me, okay? Can you do that, hmm?" Lucille says, trying to make me feel better.
