"And that is what had happened at the area?" The guild member asked as he looked at Armaros.
"Yes. I've told you everything I know." Armaros said to him with a calm face.
After he had told his story to the adventurer, he was called by the Guild employes to have a questioning. But he had already thought about the story and made sure that it was a good and logical one as well so that it wouldn't raise any questions.
The guild master of the branch is also present in the room alongside two more employees as they were observing him, most likely to make sure that he is really telling the truth.
The employee looked at his board, the man is wearing the standard guild uniform, with light brown hair and wearing glasses and looking quite sharp as he has a pad and pen in his hands as he noted down the points and looked at the notes he had taken and he replayed the story in his mind and it checked out for the most part.
"Do you know any reason as to why this person would attack you and kill the three of them?" The man, Elgaf, asked as he looked at him as he tapped his pad.
"I don't know. This was the first time that I had joined their party, so I don't know any reason as to why someone would attack them. Maybe you can find something since you have their records or something, you do right?" Armaros said before he looked at him with a questioning look.
"Of course we do. But you are correct, you had only joined them just now and you're a new adventurer, so you wouldn't know much anyway. But from what I can gather from your words, it seems that the mysterious man had specifically targetted the three of them, and left you alive." Elgaf said as he wrote something onto his notepad as he looked at him.
Armaros stayed silent as he decided to just look at the man as he looked at the guild master and nodded before turning to him.
"Alright Armaros, you can go now. Do not worry, you can keep on working as an adventurer." Elgaf said to him with a serious face as the young boy nodded at that.
"Alright, thank you." Armaros said as he walked out of the room.
After he had left, the three guild members looked at each other with the guild master having a contemplative look.
"What do you think guild master?" Elgaf asked the older man who seems to be in his mind 40's.
"His story is coherent and it's true that he had just joined their party. We will have to check up the information we have on them, but we also have to look beyond just our records to make sure that they aren't doing anything illegal or we the cause of something." The guild master said as he looked at them.
"This kid was surprisingly calm during the interrogation." The employee said as he looked at the door to the room.
"He has been noted to a calm child by many in the Guild and city, but he is also know to be quite helpful as well. He doesn't have much of a reaction to things, usually remaining stoic most of the time as I have learned. But he is quiet known for being a helpfull child, and doesn't usually ask for anything outrageous, just some money or general supplies, and they are not even too much." Elgaf said as he had researched about the boy before he had called for the interrogation.
"In any case, until we find anything else on the boy, he is free to roam and work as he pleases. Just make sure to keep an eye on what he does." The guild master said to his two employees as they nodded at that.
Armaros meanwhile let out a sigh of relief as he walked out to the common hall as he ordered some food and drinks to calm himself down as he sat at the table, he patted his sword and was glad that they didn't take it from him, though he supposed that they didn't think that he would be much of a problem.
Something which he could agree as he could feel that the guild master felt like he was a very strong fighter, especially since he could see that he has good mana, something which he had learned to do after careful training to gauge others.
While he isn't very high, he has Mana levels which are a bit higher than his own and he has how one two employees so they could take him down if he did anything suspicious.
"Here is the order." The waiter said as she placed the food and drinks.
"Thanks." Armaros said as he started to eat the food and relax a bit.
But he was still contemplating what he had heard from the mouth of the three dead adventurers and he couldn't help but frown at the thought of innocent children being sold into slavery and bought for the selfishness of others.
It frustrated him, but he was also aware of the fact that he didn't have the capability for opposing the nobles and the system of slavery that have been in use for many years. Even if he is a Dawnbringer, he doesn't have the authority for making decisions about things like that.
'Right now I should focus on getting stronger. Which means I have to become more skilled in using my mana, increase my martial arts and knowledge and maybe find or create magical items for me to use.' Armaros thought to himself as he ate his food.
After he was finished eating he washed his hands and went to Rhia as the girl smiled as she saw him approach him.
"Hey Armaros, sorry I didn't come to you immediately, I had some work to do. But since you ate some food just a few moments ago, I'm sure you're fine, right?" Rhia asked as she looked at him with a smile.
"Yeah. I just said the same thing I said here and then they let me go. I am going to go back to my house now, I'm done with quests for today." Armaros said as he sighed.
"I understand. Make sure that you get ample rest. May the God of Light grant you a great day." Rhia said as she smiled at him.
"May the God of Light grant you a great day as well. See you." Armaros said as he turned and walked away.
He left the guild building and went straight towards his room and took a bath and looked over his equipment and then the stuff in his room before he went to sleep as he closed his eyes and hoped to whatever deity is there that he would be able to sleep peacefully.
-Dawnbringer Mansion-
Mary walked towards Aurelia's office as she had been summoned to her office as she reached the doors and light knocked. After a few seconds she got the permission as she slowly opened the door and walked inside and closed it as she stood in attention as she looked at her mistress.
"Matriarch, why have you summoned me?" Mary asked respectfully as she looked at her.
Aurelia herself in looking out the window at the sky and the clouds as she turned around and looked at the maid, more specifically, the nanny of her only son.
"Mary, I wanted to ask you about my son." Aurelia said in a measured tone as she looked out the window.
"What do you wish to know Matriarch?" Mary said in surprise at hearing that.
"Armaros, what kind of a boy was he?" Aurelia asked as she didn't look back.
Mary was surprised at the question but she composed herself immediately as she remembered him as she couldn't help but smile fondly at the memories she has of him.
"Lord Armaros, he is a very good child. He would always treat me kindly, he would gift me presents during my birthdays and also gave me some from time to time. He likes animals, watching the stars in the night sky, and sometimes he would just watch the sky or anything else. Even though he didn't have the same talent in magic, he was always able to smile and be happy. He is a very kind person." Mary said with a fond smile on her face and her affection for him can be heard in her voice.
Aurelia was silent as she heard her talk about him as she soaked in what the woman said about her son.
"And what did he think of his sisters?" Aurelia asked her again as she clenched her fists.
"Master Armaros, was often sad about how his sisters would treat him, but he was never angry about it. He still loved them and hoped that they would reciprocate his efforts. He was thinking about giving a present for lady Valeria, but..." Mary said as she trailed at the end as the last bit was left unsaid.
"I see. And what do you think about him?" Aurelia asked she remembered how he would act with her daughters and herself.
"I feel really fortunate that I was there to watch over master Armaros and take care of him. He was a well behaved child and wouldn't ask for too much for me to do. To be honest, I care very much about him and he was also quite selfless as he never asked me for anything outrageous. He would ask for simple things like food and the like, though I do wish he had been a bit more selfish." Mary said as Aurelia could feel the love and care the woman has for her son.
And Aurelia felt an unexplainable feeling in her when she heard the maid say that but she kept her control as she looked outside the window without making any indication of her thoughts.
"I see. You will also help with the cooking for the entire mansion now since you don't need to take care of my son." Aurelia said to her as she turned her head slightly to look at her.
"Of course Matriarch. I will do as you said." Mary said as she bowed to her.
"Good. You can leave now." Aurelia said in a neutral tone.
"As you say." Mary said before she left the room.
Aurelia stood there in place as she looked at the bracelet on her arm as she clenched her hand as she remembered how Mary had talked about him as she clenched her jaw as she stared at the sky.
'Why am I feeling like this?' Aurelia thought to herself in confusion as she stood there.
