Chapter 27 - Winter Isle

Once back on board the Going Merry we set off back onto the sea. What our next stop was a mystery. That was the beauty of exploring the open ocean. You could sail around the world and not see everything. There were different races and people. As someone who is currently on that journey with people that I can call friends is something that I can't put a finger on.

I leaned against the rail watching as Midwife Isle vanished from site. I sighed knowing that as exciting as it was to see Sarah it was just as sad to leave. It was good to see you old friend. I hope to see you again some day. I thought to myself.

Nami came over to me and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, Kat. We'll stop back by so you can visit her."

I nodded. "I know. It was just nice to see her. If only briefly."

She laughed. "Just think about it. The next time you see her, you'll have a baby boy hanging off your arm."

I smiled. "That's true. A little swordsman of my own."

Zoro came over to join Nami and me. "What are you, girls, talking about?"

I put my arms around his neck, winking at Nami, who giggled before walking away. "Wouldn't you like to know?" I played with his hair. "I was just letting Nami know that it was bittersweet that we had to leave. That's all."

Zoro nodded. "I understand. But just think about it. We'll have our son the next time we see her." He put a hand on my stomach. "I'm excited to meet the next generation of swordsmen."

I giggle. "Who knows, he might surpass you as a swordsman."

Zoro smiled. "We'll have to see about that." He got down on his knees, lifting my shirt and exposing my stomach. "That's what I want to see."

I giggled. "What are you planning?"

"Can't a man admire his fiancè's growing baby bump?"

A few hours later, a white landmass started coming into view. It looked deserted from afar. No one would want to live on an island that cold. With temps dropping as low as 0 degrees. As the ship sailed closer to the island. It was said that only animals such as reindeer, polar bears, and snow rabbits live on such an isle.

I stepped out on the deck with my winter coat on and lifted a hand so that a snowflake was on it. While others landed on my eyelashes. I put a hand on my stomach. "One day, little one, soon you'll be able to enjoy the snow."

Usopp and the others came out on the deck to enjoy the weather. "It's snowing?"

I nodded. "Welcome to Winter Isle. Where hardy folk and animals live. They say that you have to be hard of spirit and heart to live here."

Usopp nodded. "You seem to know a lot about his strange place."

"There are three other islands just like this one all based on the seasons. Summer island, where it's always hot, Spring island, where trees and flowers are always blooming, and Fall island where the temps are cool and the colors have started changing on the trees. Those islands are beautiful to visit."

Sanji looked at me. "It sounds like you've been there before."

"No. I've just studied them in detail."

An arrow came whizzing by, landing in the mast, leaving a small hole. It had a note attached to it. I went over to the arrow and undid the scroll. COME NOFURTHER!
