Chapter 15 - 15. Interrupted Burial

The days passed, and there was no new development on Chris' case, so he remained in prison. During those days, I was lonely. There was no way I could meet with my friends because their parents took measures to ground them. It was similar even to me, although my dad didn't care to monitor me that much. One night, after a period of silence, Ms. Gunday invited me. I couldn't miss that moment. I knew she needed someone to comfort her since she lost her job after Mr. Cruz resigned because of the incident that threatened his life. Mr. Cruz was the one who employed her. Her invite so that we could kill boredom. That night, we drank and played music. As the wine took us, we found ourselves on the bed, caressing each other until we slept.

When I woke up in the morning, Ms. Gunday was still asleep. My head was aching. I dressed up and prepared to leave without waking her up. The time I gave her a goodbye kiss, my eyes caught something, and it surprised me. There was a male necklace on the shelves of her wardrobe. I quickly went to look at it closely, as it seemed familiar. Before my hand could reach it, I knew the necklace belonged to Marcos. I got confused, looking at Ms. Gunday. However, instead of waking her up and asking questions, I just left the room, leaving her asleep. I believed she was going to tell me.

At home, I found all of my friends waiting for me. I didn't expect their visit. Judging by their face faces when they saw me entering the house, I knew something was wrong. Mariana was sitting on a sofa, her head plugged between her knees. Before I asked what had befallen, their parents came in as well. It was as if my dad had invited everyone to our house. Jeff looked at me, his eyes filled with fear. My mind raced with questions about the devils. That was the only thing which had the potential to bring our parents in one room. I asked Jeff what was happening. Instead of Jeff responding, my dad responded as he came from his bedroom. He said terrible things were happening in the city, and it was a sign that the Skyling city was falling. He suggested we return to Rockline City. I realized the situation was intense, which made my dad lose his guts. Tears dragged down his cheeks. I walked closer to him and held his hands. I was slowly getting scared. Everyone was quiet. But Veronica's mother broke the silence and announced Mr. Mann's death and added that he hung himself in the hospital. I felt a surge of shock as my skin pores opened as I tried to digest those news.

The news of Mr. Mann's death forced Mr. Thiego to drop tears in front of the cameras. As the city mayor, he cautioned people to be careful and brace for the city's transformation. He claimed the devils were back in the city. His words were the ones that made our parents come together under one roof. Most people, just like us didn't understand what the mayor meant by the devils. We believed it was a mystery tale our parents used to thrill us with. However, it seemed the devil broke from hell. The death of Marcos Mann and his father created divisions in the city. Before Mr. Mann breathed his last, he spread the news, making sure people believed the devil killed his son. So some people believed the news, others didn't. From that, I understood why my dad was in fear. People believed Chris was the devil.

Since SPD, Officer K was rushing to conclude the case. He saw a chance to do it when people were confused. He arrested Chris with the little evidence he had and closed the case. Chris Daniel was then announced to be Marcos Mann's killer. After that, a green light for the burials to take place was issued.

The officer concreted the ideas of the devil's return by declaring Chris as the devil. Everything was a joke to us, but not to our parents. My friends and I knew Chris. If he was the devil so everyone was a devil. It was clear to us that our parents were hiding something. As the news spread, mentioning the arrest of the devil, we knew Chris was certainly not going to escape prison. I thought about Marcos' necklace I saw in Ms. Gunday's house and felt tempted to tell everyone. But, I convinced myself otherwise.

The next day, Officer K ordered the burial to proceed faster, but the doctor delayed the process. The bodies were still in the lab unprepared. No Mann relatives showed up to prepare the bodies. People were already waiting at the cemetery, unknowing that the bodies were freezing in the lab. When the news reached them, few volunteered to go to prepare the bodies. As soon as those few people left the cemetery going to the lab by a car, two helicopters appeared above our heads. They hovered, whirling a giant mass of wind on us. They then moved circularly above our heads for a few minutes. Subsequently, they landed from a distance. We had all our eyes on the helicopters. We thought the helicopter brought Mr. Mann's relatives, since he was one of the richest men in the city.

While our eyes were still on the helicopters, a lady of small stature, clad in a black dress, appeared at the door after they opened it. She meticulously stepped down the stairs and wore her shades. Thereafter, she flounced in our direction, and two men in black suits followed behind her. When she was closer, I realized she looked very sexy and her dress had a vent, which left her attracting thighs in open. She knew everyone had their eyes on her, so she slowly smiled and held the badge that was hanging on her neck. I realized she had a badge after she held it. Otherwise, my eyes were still admiring her attractive points. She lifted her badge and introduced herself. We all went quiet the moment she spoke. Her name was Lady Kort, the Chief Central Intelligence Investigations Department Officer, CCIIDO. The top officials had ordered her to take over the case of Marcos Mann and his father.

We were all stunned by her confidence despite her stature. She stopped the burial services and told everyone to go back to their homes. Thereafter, they drove her to the SPD station. The moment SPD Officer K saw her entering the station, he couldn't believe it. She had higher rank than him, and she embarrassed him by canceling the burial that was underway. Everyone in the passages was saluting her. She went straight to the cells and asked to see Chris Daniel. Before the officers could overreact, Chris introduced himself as Lady Kort was standing next to his cell. She smiled and went closer to the cell.

"Oh little one, you look worked out," she said and asked, "are you the devil?"

At that instant, Officer K appeared and asked, "Lady Kort…who sent you?"

Kort didn't respond. Instead, she kept on staring at Chris.

"I asked you a question. How did you convince the top official to give you this case?" Officer K probed, his voice losing patience.

She gave him her attention. Her cheeks full of smile.

"I heard the killer of Marcos Mann was the devil," she said, her eyes full of curiosity.

"You heard correctly," Officer K affirmed.

She smiled even more, pulled her chest forward by her hands, and pinched her tits.

"When I grew up, I heard the devil had horns. He's so masculine that when a woman sees him, the orgasm will strike her like a lightning and leave her wrecked," she said, ironing her figure by her hands. Officer K remained mute, his eyes on her figure, and she added, "So when I heard you busted the devil, the curiosity of seeing him ruled me. I even wore this sexy outfit for him."

Officer K nodded his head, agreeing to whatever Kort said. There after Kort shocked him when she said, "If you are agreeing with me, then I have a right to free Chris Daniel because the devil you busted doesn't have horns and I felt no orgasm when I laid my eyes on him."

She spoke freeing Chris and told Officer K to stay out of the case until it was closed. Officer K felt embarrassed. He had no powers to stop her. The news of Chris' release spread, but it was difficult for people to change their minds about the devil being back.
