Two days passed uneventfully.
After dropping Jenna's wedding, Alex hadn't wanted to pick up another project immediately. She needed time to breathe and feel like herself again.
Julian hadn't left her side for long since her breakdown. He hovered more than usual, worried that she might run off again.
Riley, too, relentlessly scolded her when Julian reported what had happened to her. Apparently, the two had become a team, taking turns nagging her.
But despite the nagging, Alex felt more at peace than she had ever felt.
Julian had quietly taken over the kitchen, cooking her meals. Not that she was complaining. His skills grew by the day. Alex couldn't have made something better herself.
It was pure bliss.
But, alas, everything had to come to an end, eventually.
Willa had taken on a small event, a high school friends' reunion, and Alex had to step in to help. This meant she had to head to the office to gather details and get things in motion.
