Chapter 9 - Chapter Nine-Fired?

"What do you think you're doing?"

He fixated his gaze on her like she was his prey.

"Trying to sleep with my wife, I think?" He answered so innocently Sabrina let out a scoff. She withdrew her hands the moment she noticed she placed them on his chest.

"We need to sleep with eachother to consummate our wedding, don't you think?"

Her face paled at his words.

"You say what?" He couldn't be serious, right? He just couldn't be.

"We are married, aren't we? The necklace on your neck proves it. You haven't give me mine though."

As he talked, his warm breathe fanned her face, the minty smile from his body attacking her nostrils.

"We married due to conditions." Lexis raised his brows at what she said, obviously not catching her words.

"Just for the time being, we are just husbands and wife on paper." She continued.

His face darkened. He softly grabbed her chin in a firm grip.

"Mrs Woodsman, it seemed I didn't make one thing clear, there's nothing like divorce as long as I am concerned. There's nothing like divorce between us. You and I will never, end this marriage."

"That's crazy." She pushed him away, "It's not like we married for love or anything."

Not saying a word, Lexis just got and slammed the door hard as he left the room.

Sabrina laid back on the bed, confused ans speechless. She let out a sigh. She was going to divorce him afterall. Whether he liked it or not.

They had married to solve each other's problem- for her to get rid of Jason and for Lexis to be saved from the robbers, and also to be giving him upkeep.

They didn't marry for love, so what was he so mad about?

She couldn't be stuck in a loveless marriage, just like her mom.

———-

Sabrina was sleeping soundly when the ringtone of her phone woke her up.

She rubbed her eyes in drowsiness and picked the phone from the nightstand, straightaway without checking the caller.

"Sabrina Olive Wonders! I have a lot to settle with you for ignoring my calls since yesterday but right now I need you to come to the company! You are getting fired!." Windy's anxious and loud voice woke Sabrina completely out of her slumber.

"What are you saying?" Sabrina pulled the blanket from her body, and sat up on the bed, " Why would they fire me out of the blue?."

" I don't know. I have no idea too. I'm as confused as you are. Didn't you see the headlines last night? Your father disowned you, and the marriage between you and Jason has been cancelled."

"How does that affect my work at the company?" She was unfazed about the news of her dad disowning her. He was a piece of shit not worth mentioning at all.

It was good he disowned her. Now she could boldly say she has no relationship with the Wonders family.

"I really can't explain over the phone. You have to come by yourself."

"Alright, I'll be there in twenty minutes." Sabrina hastily got up from the bed and dashed into the bathroom.

She washed up quickly and decided to wear the clothes she wore yesterday, since there was none to change into in the mansion that belonged to her so-called husband.

Lexis saw Sabrina walking down the stairs in a hurry.

He causally dropped the cup of coffee he was sipping.

"What's with the rush?"

Sabrina picked up a glass of water placed on the table and drank it.

"There's something urgent at my workplace. I need to see what the problem is."

"What's the need to work? You have to relax." He took a sip of the coffe, "You just got married yesterday. Today's supposed to be your resting day."

"Are you freaking serious right now?." Sabrina stared at him as though he was telling a joke, "For the fact that we live in this mansion that belongs to God knows who, doesn't mean I should remain idle."

Lexis didn't bother to make argument with her.

"Okay, have breakfast first."

"There's no need."

"Just a little."

"No."

He glanced at her outfit, "Why didn't you change?"

She tied her hair into a rough bun, "There was no need. I don't think there are clothes to wear. I just moved in yesterday."

"Did you check the closet?" He took a sip from the coffee once again, his eyes focussed on her.

Sabrina slapped her forehead, "Damn, I didn't. How could clothes be there? My size?"

"I got someone to prepare them yesterday for you."

She eyed him suspiciously. How could he prepare her other just yesterday that she moved in? How did he even know her size?

"I'll check when I'm back. Bye, I'm off to work."

Sabrina barely made for the door when he stopped her.

"Wait." She turned and glared at him

"What?I'm really running out of time!."

"Kiss me before you go. Kiss me on the cheek."

Sabrina was glad no one was in here with them, or she would have wished the ground would open and swallow her.

She folded her arms, "I'm really busy." She made for the door.

"Then you have to kiss me whenever you're back on the lips." Lexis half-yelled as she walked out, and Sabrina thinking it was a normal request, simply yelled back an 'Okay' and hurried off.

Lexis smiled and brought out his cellphone and called George.

"Yes Lexis,why calling?"

"The name of Sabrina's workplace is what?"

George yawned as he rubbed his eyes, his head unclear, "Who's Sabrina?"

"My wife."

"Oh." George sat up, "I think it's the Diamond company."

Lexis smirked, "Investigate what's going on there, and buy the company. Change the manager and director as well."

At the mention of buying the company, George became alarmed. "Why?"

"Do as you're told, no questions." With that, the cellphone went dead.

George sighed in exhaustion.

If not for how close the both of them were, he would have quit a long time.

Lexis was such a pain in the ass.

At the Company…

"Windy, what the hell is going on?" Sabrina asked the moment Windy halted in front of her as she exited from the taxi.

"Chloe is throwing your stuffs out from the department. Everyone is gossiping about how you are being fired."

Sabrina's face darkened.
