Chapter 15 - "Frightened"

It took Xin Gan about forty minutes to reach the station. The station was dilapidated and bustling with people. She went to the ticket counter to buy a ticket and stood in the waiting area to wait for the train.

The bus arrived at the appointed time. Xin Gan queued up to get on and sat near the window. She stared blankly at the scenery outside the window. As the bus started, she suddenly heard a rumbling explosion from the station not far behind her.

She was startled and turned around to see thick smoke billowing from the station. The crowd was running out in panic. In an instant, it felt like a living hell. There were cries of children and screams, rising and falling one after another.

The bus stopped. Both the driver and the passengers on board were frightened by this scene. It was the passengers who reacted and immediately called the police with their mobile phones.

Just a few minutes later, another earth-shattering explosion rang out not far away. The sound was rumbling and carrying heat waves, rolling around the center of the explosion.

Xin Gan got off the car with the scattered crowd. Some people were Shouting to run out, so she followed and ran outside. Her mind went blank and her heart was pounding wildly. In the next second, she was about to leap out of her throat. It was the first time she had seen such a scene up close, and she was completely unprepared.

The explosions rang out three times in total, and each time the power was greater than the last.

Xin Gan ran out, not daring to stop. He panted and looked around. The thick smell of smoke filled the air all around, which was extremely pungent.

She ran out. When she couldn't run any further, she looked back and saw that the station was deep in thick smoke.

A child got separated from his family. Standing there, he rubbed his eyes and cried, covering his pitiful face. Xin Gan gritted his teeth and ran over, picked up the child and hid outside the safe area.

Half an hour later, police. The inspection team has arrived, and so has the ambulance.

...

In the hospital, Xin Gan was holding a child and treating the wound for the nurse. She wasn't seriously injured, just a little frightened. However, the child in her arms was affected by the explosion, with wounds of varying degrees on her arms and face.

The little boy was crying just now, but stopped crying when he came to the hospital. The nurse even praised him for being so brave. That's how a man should be.

He took it to heart and nodded with tears in his eyes.

Treat the wound properly, police officer. The police came over to inquire about the situation at the scene. Xin Gan was also one of the witnesses at the scene. She told the police everything she knew. Cha asked the police again. Cha said, "This child got separated from his family. Could you help look for him?"

The police officer said, "I'll register his information first, but it takes time. We don't have enough hands. Could you please help check it?"

"Ok." Seeing how pitiful the child was, Xin Gan agreed.

She asked the police to check her contact information and address, and then asked the child to have a check-up at the hospital to see if there were any other wounds. Only after finding no other wounds did she feel relieved.

After some inquiry, it was found that the child is named Asongli, about five years old, and a local. His mother, like Xin Gan, is not a local, so he knows a little Mandarin and can communicate simply without any problem. However, he has a very strong accent, which Xin Gan couldn't understand at first.

His home is in a town ten kilometers away. He came here with his mother to visit relatives. Now his mother is missing and he is all alone. His eyes are very panicked and he keeps holding onto Xin Gan's trouser leg. Maybe Xin Gan saved him. He trusts Xin Gan very much.

Xin Gan lost her mobile phone and wallet at the time of the explosion just now and can't find them now. She called the police. Cha helped and asked if she could send them back to the inn in Wuke. Her documents and luggage were all at the inn.

The police officers politely declined. They were short of staff and already very busy.

Xin Gan could only say, "OK." Then she asked him to borrow her mobile phone. She wanted someone to help her.

But she knew Cheng Jiu, and Jiang Tang and Xiao Shi were all Cheng Jiu's men. That's why she was driven away by Cheng Jiu. How could she ask him for help again?
