"Your world is about to change." A voice whispered to me. I turned around but everywhere was dark and I couldn't make anything or anyone out.

"Who is there?" I called out into the darkness.

"I'm a friend Arin, no need to be frightened." The soft voice called out to me.

"What do you want with me?" I questioned, my senses on high alert as I could feel the person moving around me in circles.

"I don't want anything from you. I'm here to help you." The woman revealed and my brows furrowed in confusion.

"Help me?" I asked.

The slap across my face was so hard it knocked me to the ground.


"This is all your fault!" Luna Calista screamed, standing over me with anger blazing in her icy gray eyes.


I touched my face where her hand had hit me, feeling the sting spread across my skin. Around us, pack members gasped and stepped back. No one had expected the Luna to attack me right in the middle of the funeral gathering.


"Mother, what are you doing?" Kael shouted, running to help me up.


"Don't you dare call me mother while you're defending her!" Luna Calista snapped at her son. "That creature killed your father!"


"Arin didn't kill anyone," Jaxon said furiously, moving to stand beside his brother.


"Didn't she?" Luna Calista's voice was cold as winter ice. "If she had never been born, Cassian wouldn't have come here. If she had never lived, your father would still be alive!"
